  • My god, does he spill his heart out on this song.

  • I hate to break it to you people, but he's married.

  • Meh. Talented, but not really acessible. Not bad, really- but not the sort of thing that would get mainstream popularity.

  • @Sailortrance and thats why its so good

  • @Sailortrance you suck.

  • @cseikaly18 Not going to get into a flame- war- I just expressed my opinion- and politely, I might add. There's no need to be hateful.

  • @Sailortrance you still suck tho.

  • @cseikaly18 Alright. Have a nice day : 3

  • @Sailortrance

Well that's good news! What goes mainstream is what is pleasing the majority. And the majority, as you probably know, sucks ass.

  • Why doesn't this video have millions of views?? It should D:

  • I traveled from Chicago to London to see Peter Gabriel as a fan of 20 years...there are no words to describe that...nothing being said...I'm pretty sure if the situation presented itself I would buy the same ticket for Andrew Bird after being introduced to him through Starbucks (of all places) just 2 years ago. A true artist. Before you know it, you know it...thank you AB

  • I saw him in the summer of 2008 at Millenium Park in downtown Chicago in the Jay Pritzker Auditorium. It was surreal. That's about all I can say about it.

  • the applause for this song was the worst part of the video. they were clapping like he just sang jingle bells

  • This is sex in song form.

  • @tbush2020 well said. i've been watching this video for 6 months and it has not declined in its wonder yet.

  • @TheDanification

I happened upon AB 1.5yrs ago. Can't believe I haven't been listening to him since his career began. If I knew then what I know now....sat in the 1st pew at the 4th Presbyterian church/Chicago for his show recently...heard this song live, not expecting it-too good.

  • @tbush2020 damn...that made me jealous lol. i can't imagine the grandeur of hearing AB in a church where the acoustics are proper. take care brother.

  • I listened to this song so many times, but I still cant figure out the timing. Mr. Bird, you confuse and amaze me, thank you.

  • i really miss Jeff Buckley... damn i think Andrew "channels his spirit" .)

  • @Tritium8 hell yeah. for a really long time jeff buckley and andrew bird were the only musicians i listened to because they're so different and creative. not to mention talented. rip jeff

  • @Tritium8 i totally thought this sounded like jeff buckley the first time i heard it

  • Damn you for being so easy going.

  • Hey we are a new studio in Florida. We have been getting the best bands in the area to perform live in our new web-series called off the avenue. Check it out!

  • the name Andrew Bird goes along with "Pure Genius"

  • Amazing

  • So full of intensity that notes are not sufficient. Emotions are squeezed out of him by all means!

  • I would totally sleep with him.

  • @likethewater get in line, sister.

  • he played this live in Winnipeg this year, and it was epic.

  • He kinda reminds me of Tiny Tim...but way better.

  • I saw this man once in concert at the Largo, and as soon as I found out he was playing another show at the same damn venue three days later, I immediately bought tickets. He's brilliant, he's beautiful, he's the best.

  • holy fuck

  • I would kill to see Andrew Bird perform live.

OK maybe I wouldn't kill, but I would definitely commit some kind of felony.

  • This show was so great. Feel quite lucky to have been there.

  • i got to see him once...since then he's always sold out :*( but at least i got that one time

  • 6:00 Would that be what you'd call "a nervous tic motion of the head to the left"?

  • @Turrreena sort of - I have them when I perform sometimes. It's like a little thing that distracts you and pulls you back from focusing on the audience, shifts your headspace.

  • he is too talented!!

  • i'm genuinely amazed by his ability to whistle like that lol

  • genuis

  • I love how he gets into his music.

  • I would love to meet this man some day. So passionate in his music.

  • I fell asleep at this show. It was a great show. But I did fall asleep.

  • eudaimonia!

  • truly amazing..... fiery, elegant, and beautifull

  • check out my andrew bird cover on my page!!!!!!

  • THATS NOT HOW YOU PLAY A FUCKING VIOLIN

  • @paniccat -LOL'D-

  • Whyyyyyy... has this song to be so damn sexy? It's a spell or a curse he put on me. Might be the way he smiles so tenderly.

(Or maybe it's just the fact that he's an unbelievable musician.)

  • is he always this animated?

  • @alexwonton no no no, not an insult to violinists! just hes so good (:

  • he is brilliant. never has a violin sounded so good.

  • is that an insult to violinists, or does his violin sound better than the usual violin? lol :P

  • Sting meets Talking Heads......wow!

  • ANDREW BIRD.

    I LOVE YOU.

    lets get together and create.

    [sad cus itll never happen]

  • Because of Andrew Bird, I've always wanted to learn how to become a good whistler.

  • @strayedmusician because of Andrew Bird, I've started to learn to play the violin...it's totally addictive... :D

  • What a beautiful man/musician - and I've gotta say, that whistling always makes me melt.

  • So brilliant and hauntingly graceful. Andrew Bird's music sounds like home.

  • Please release this Guthrie show in high quality somewhere. I would buy the shit out of this dvd. It would make amazing gifts for my friends.

  • buffyrown: indeed.....when i discovered his music i had the same reaction. i have yet to see him live but i'm sure i will soon. try to buy all of his albums......he is brilliant!

  • @linkailun1 off to amazon now to buy all the andrew bird that i can get my hands on! :-)

  • Saw him live last Saturday and it was amazing. I felt like picking up a musical instrument after the show, something I haven't felt the urge to do in a while. I love this performance.

  • i have just discovered andrew bird today. this may be the start of a long and happy obsession. what a perfect perfect thing this is. all the sounds i wanted to hear but couldnt find anywhere. thank god someone is making music like this!

  • Right on.

  • Seeing this guy live is amazing, especially in an intimate venue. I love everything he does. The evolution of his music over the years is fascinating.

  • Don't want to sound like a ..well, unromantic type.

But me and this lovely young woman have a sexual relationship, we both listen to Andrew Bird.

This song just ...fits the relationship. x)

  • purrrfect

  • The best way I can describe the beginning is like flamingo blues on a violin....amazing

  • flamenco violin!

  • This is why I play the violin. To try be as creative and boundary pushing and talented as Andrew Bird. Though in my own special way because he is inimatble.

  • That suit is so snappy.

  • OMG this is what I wanted all along from music. I'm smitten with my ears. I'm all ears. Oh my.

  • i do believe this may be mr. bird at his best.

  • hmm., i like it. My cousin recomended Andrew Bird...great taste I must say

  • 5:06 - 5:17 is incredible, the way his voice is synchronized to the violin. magic!

  • I can't wait to be blown away when I see him live soon.

  • there's just no way am not seeing this person live until i die ... fruKin amazing

  • Saw him play with the Decemberists in Oregon this summer. Together, they were incredible, but alone, Andrew Bird was a million times better. He's the most talented musician I'VE come across in years.

  • so true his lyrics, but i like the frame even more ;)

  • lots of people have talent... but Andrew Bird is also interesting.

  • @Mattprole WELL SAID!!!! and oh so true!!

  • i loveee the begining of thiss

  • You got soul....

  • He's the son of Jeff Buckley and Imogen Heap.

  • Don't think so mate! JB would've been seveen when he was born!

  • I was just making a "musical" observation and comparison.

  • interesting, but I don't see the imogen heap thing that much. I guess b/c Imogen is so very emotional and sentimental.

  • you fail.

  • awesome! i saw him on PBS the other night.... just a trip!

  • so so so inspired. LoVe!

  • This version gives me chills. So good.

  • I know its a bad habit; but if he could incorporate a cigarette (a nattie would fit) that would make this the awesomest song ever. Okay.... it already is. But you have to admit a nattie would be an awesome touch.

  • @gammadaddy, hm i dont agree, if everyone would just play violin (as wel as Andrew Bird) instead of smoke, the world would be a much nicer place.

  • its on The Swimming Hour but the original version is nothing like this. Still great though.

  • saw him in boston -- sheer delight and suprise!
