  • I'm Canadian and you speak exactly how I do. I don't think you have an accent at all. But I do notice some people in Minnesota DO have those "Sarah Palin" accents. As for how you pronounce "bag", Most central and western Canadians also say it like "bayg" or "baygel" instead of "bAgel" haha. I also say "pasta" like "posta" not "paaasta" lol.

  • you sound nearer to english than the other american accents

  • You have the generic northern accent like me! (I think it's considered that?) and I am southern Minnesota

  • your accent is the same as mine. I'm from Michigan.

  • Only thing that startled me when I moved from California to Minnesota and I also lived in Wisconsin too, was that pronunciation of the word "bag" because at least the people I was around said "bag" as the word "beg" would sound. People asked me if I wanted a "beg" for my groceries at Super America and I had to ask them a few times what the hell they said.

  • You're VERY cute!

  • Only Seattle accent rocks

  • you should email me at thegirl194@yahoo.com. just a suggestion ^ ^

  • I live in Minnesota but I did live in St. Joseph, Missouri for three years. I've been back to visit twice since then and had a discussion about this with my uncle who lived down there when he was alive. Everyone thinks MInnesotans sound like Canadians.

  • I notice no accent AT ALL but I live in Minnesota. Lol

  • eyebrows?

  • @JaimeinUK Enough with the eyebrows.

  • @Catch22HomeRun where in minnesota u from? im from mpls and i dont hear the accent at all

  • u must be from the cities cuz the more north u go the worse it get cuz i dont think u have much of an accent

  • @89britzlet I'm actually not from the cities, I'm from more southern Minnesota. I do agree, though, that the MN accent does get much stronger the closer you get to the Canadian border.

  • LOL, I say RAGtime...not RAYGtime. XD The band director at my school was talking to the class about ragtime, but since she's from Wisconsin, she said raygtime. XD Cue of laughter. LOL. Btw, I'm from Texas. =]

  • @christianac123 haha I was wondering why that word was on the list, thanks for letting me know! I'm actually living in WI now :)

  • youre very handsome too haha (:

  • @monika5748 Thanks!

  • Sounded normal to me, but I'm from Canada and that probably doesn't help the Canadian accent association.

  • @cantbeleveitsnotnaru haha probably not, but that's alright :)

  • Love the poster in the background!

  • @emAZING12 Thanks!

  • Just came back to this vid and you say BAG, not beg. Haha. I still don't hear an accent lol.

  • @monika5748 That's what I think too! But apparently there are some people out there who think we do... :/ Maybe they're just crazy lol

  • all of the dislikes are people from Missouri. ;)

  • @tolkienpwns Gosh it must be! I wasn't expecting there to be so many dislikes! This video wasn't meant to polarize people...it was actually just a video to a friend of mine in Atlanta lol, but 12,000 views later...

  • i have to same accent and im from NYC

  • @MrAndrewaaa Good to hear! I think Minnesotans really just have the general northern accent

  • I can't really tell you have a different accent and I'm from Pennsylvania o.O

  • @monika5748 haha that's good to hear! :)

  • Haha, i agree with the word "bag" I moved to Minnesota just a year or so ago and didnt get what the cashier lady when she asked if i wanted a paper "BEG" or whatever.

  • hansome

  • Right on. =)

  • Yay Minnesota!

  • People say because I'm from Minnesota I say "nose" weird, from people from Missouri! Ryan check out my videos!

  • Yay Minnesota! :)

Also, I have friends from Missouri and they're great. :) My one Missourian friend HATES how most Minnesotans pronounce "bag." Most of us apparently say it more like "beg." And I like to draw out my 'o's around her just to make her mad, haha.

  • @blynninja haha I've also done the 'o' thing a few times just to annoy people. But they still tease me for it even when I don't try lol

  • Minnesotans are decended from Scandanavians...PRIDE is all I can say.

    'Nuff said.

  • Well im from Missouri... gee thanks... :P

  • @lovercity28 haha I was afraid that was going to happen :) I have absolutely no serious gripes with the state. In fact, the Missourians who I did get to know were some of the nicest people I have ever met.

  • @Catch22HomeRun haha i was just messing with you :) and btw the only time your accent really stood out the most was when you said "Minnesotan" in the beginning, so i dont really get what people meant when they thought that those words would sound funny? lol

  • Rag nose!

  • Guess what! Ryan I know you!! Its Caitlyn!

  • @AllAmericanTomBoy13 Haaa I love your name "just thought i would say that"

  • @typexxx13 Thanks, I like yours too! :)

  • @AllAmericanTomBoy13 haha hi!

  • Because Joe Mauer is on your wall, I want to say this: Joe Mauer's a beefcake! I hope you are enjoying college

  • @BrownBrother27 haha I totally agree! And thank you, I am!

  • @Catch22HomeRun

What other sports teams do you like?

  • @BrownBrother27 The Vikings, the Brewers (my boyfriend is from Wisconsin), the Badgers (where I go to school), the T-wolves, and the Wild.

  • @Catch22HomeRun Boyfriend?

  • @KleboldWF Yep

  • @Catch22HomeRun You're bisexual?

  • @KleboldWF Gay

  • Cleveland ROCKS!!!

  • HA!!!! the "bag" Im from Wi, go to school in MO, first time I said bag it was like i grew another head, also rag and flag.

  • Puck to the nose?

  • @ThrashingKangaroo Two baseballs actually. But thank you for pointing that out. Sometimes I'm amazed at people's tact online.

  • The only accent I heard was in wagon..

  • people always say that i hold out my o's alot haha i dont here that at all in u!

  • MINNESOTA ROCKS!!!!!!

  • I was in the twin cities and ya'll white trash and only the older people have accents

  • Dude, y'all live in the city though, I need to know what a Minnesotan accent from Virginia (MN) sounds like

  • You are so cute

  • So, you say bag slightly different than I do, probably influenced by the people from Missouri. I say it like Bayg, but you say it a little more like people do who aren't from Minnesota. Almost like ba-ayg.

  • wagon sounded the funniest.

  • those eyebrows what

  • @Uktrayf It's the lighting.

  • Everything sounds regular to me. But, then again, I'm from Minnesota. =P

  • The bag, bag phenomenon will always make me laugh. My cousin who is from texas used to visit like once a year and I would say 'bag' in my regular minnesotan accent and she would instantly correct me with her 'bag' which sounds like bahg or something weird when I try to mimic it like you just did LOL.. We would go back and forth doing that for like 10 minutes. I still can't get it right xD

  • @J2thePower0f3 haha right! I wish I could have recorded the way this girl said it. Completely different lol

  • i am from MN too! but you do have kinda a strong accent lol but then again im more southern MN so that could just be me. ive heard though that when i say About, it sounds like aboot..

  • @spidermancupcake haha I'm from southern mn too actually. Marshall region. :)

  • i grew up in oregon and washington and u say everytng the same as me

  • I'm British and this accent sounds amazing to me! What are you saying at number 9? Wagon? That's the best one! lol I'll have to remember your top 10 words and post a video of me saying them in my accent..it'll be hugely different to yours!!

  • @fw965 haha thanks! And yep, wagon. Definitely make a video, and send me the link! :D I'd be interested to hear the way other accents say the words.

  • YESS! JOE MAUER AND THE MINNESOTA TWINS!!! yes, bag. Everyone not from the Cities, or MN think we say bag weird. No we don't! we say bag normal.

  • @AmandaMarie951 Totally agree! And Joe Mauer....:D Best bb ever.

  • Hey my family is from Missouri and I live in Minnesota! I from both worlds. But I don't think you have a very thick Minnesotan accent.

  • @Libster9009 haha thanks!

  • @Libster9009 My mom's side of the family is from Texas and my dad's side is from Minnesota. Rofl :D Best of both worlds, baby!

Although, I like the south more

  • Ure so cute

  • @pollyburlamaqui Thanks... :D

  • Comment removed

  • ok :)

  • hes from the cities, your gay? how old r you? i have a very cute 19 yr old gay son ;)

  • @mrsandid333 Yes I'm gay. I'm 18 right now. I'm seeing someone now, though...if that's what you're getting at. =]

  • you sound distinctively mid-western. and gay.

  • @danaeisfeld15 Well that's good. I am mid-western and I am gay. :)

  • @Catch22HomeRun and apparently obsessed with refreshing your YouTube page.

  • @Catch22HomeRun yeah, I know. I went to a camp last summer there and stayed in the dorms and everything. :) it was tons of fun!

  • @Catch22HomeRun so you go to college their? I wanna go there someday for engineering.. :)

  • @sarahgerger Yes I do. :) It's a wonderful school, you should definitely check it out! From what I have heard the engineering school is really top-notch.

  • @Barskdale222 haha it kind of does now that you mention it. Oh, well. I very much did not paint my eyebrows onto my head lol

  • @Barskdale222 ....nothing? What do you mean? lol

  • my husband is from minnesota,,,you dont sound like him you sound normal

  • @mrsandid333 haha thanks. It all depends on what part of MN you are from. He must be from further north than I am. :)

  • What the fuck? was this video about? I didn't hear a accent.

  • @SuperMiwok haha that was my point...that not all people from MN have an accent.

  • Minnesota for the win! Mankato, MN REPRESENT :D:D

    You Betcha!!

  • @BambiGaming LOVE Mankato! I actually used to live pretty close to it myself!

  • The only word that sounded weird to me was wagon.

    I'm from Chicago

  • Adorable! Your accent isn't that noticeable but you can hear it in certain words. Mostly wagon. Hodgepodge and ragtime as well but like you said, when would you even use those words? I also could here it in bag and eat. Like I said you're gorgeous and love accents.

  • @stevenalex1218 haha thanks :D

  • your pronunciation of bag sounds normal to me. I'm from Chicago.

  • @ksb78 Yes, I don't think there is much of an accent differentiation between MN and IL

  • LOL, wagon was so obvious. I could also hear it with ragtime.

  • lol ur soo funnyy its cute

  • @suns61 haha thanks :)

  • that is not a minnesota accent

  • @LucianPheonix It's the accent of a person who has lived in Minnesota all his life. That my friend is a Minnesotan's accent. :)

  • @Catch22HomeRun hail 2 that:)

  • @Theroinh Cheers!

  • dude are ur eye brows real

  • @11982463 ....yes. I don't understand what the obsession with my eyebrows is. It must be the light. I promise, they're real lol

  • Even though she's from Iowa, doesn't Michele Bachmann have a [stereotypical] Minnesota accent? Your accent isn't strong and I've listened to a few Minnesota newscasts.

I'm from Michigan and Michiganders are mistaken for Canadians when speaking as well.

  • Comment removed

  • @BrownBrother27

Michelle Bachmann IS from Minnesota. Not far from me.

  • @JennySDK38

Congreswoman Bachmann moved to Minnesota when she was 13.

  • @JennySDK38 She's from St. Cloud, I believe. Or at least that is the district she represents. She's from Waterloo, Iowa originally. Luckily, I do not live near either. Just kidding :)

  • @BrownBrother27 I have heard that people from Michigan (especially in the UP) have a strong accent. I've never been there before, though. And I do agree that Michele Bachmann has an accent, and I can only hope that I do NOT sound like her. :)

  • I don't here it!!!! You sound like a regular enlgish speaker to me! lolI don't think we have an accent.

  • @TheKimKyok Thanks :) I don't either

  • I live in Wisconsin and you sound completely normal to me. :)

  • @sarahgerger I live in Madison now actually!

  • MN Represent

  • I hear your accent, but I live in Wisconsin, so...it sounds pretty normal to me.

  • okay i dont hear any accent....... maybe because i have lived in mn all my life...

  • @OrangeAvacado101 haha maybe that or maybe there is no such thing as a Minnesota accent. :)

  • I was born in Minnesota!! so I probably have a Minnesota Accent!

  • omg your adorable:)

  • @Olllllllliepopx123 Thanks :)

  • @Catch22HomeRun

    welcome:)

  • He don't have a Minnesota accent. He's got a mid-west accent, which is completely different...don'cha kno? Anyways....back to luufa shopping.

  • @vicardaniel Sounds like a good time!

  • Lol i get the whole "bag" thing. My significant other is from Rochester, Ny and we have word wars as to what is the correct pronunciation.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE AYYYYYYE OMGGG I LOOOOVE UUUUU HML

  • @QueenBeaster haha thanks :)

  • @Catch22HomeRun WELCOME.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @QueenBeaster Thanks!

  • To me you don't have an accent! D: I'm from Canada, people think I have a Minnesota accent. Weird.

  • @lizXoX2008 HAHA! I'm from Minnesota when I moved to California people ask me where in Canada iam from..

  • @spazyk mee toooo ! lmao i moved there and they were like wtf whenever i said bag lol

  • @spazyk haha I never understand those types of people. I come across them to from time to time :)

  • Oh, and keep your eye on those Detroit Tigers. They're starting to find their groove. Their bats are going to be on fire this summer. :P

  • OMG! Ryan! You live! :D How are things going?

I found absolutely nothing odd about the way you pronounced those words. I guess being from Michigan, I probably wouldn't. I have a problem with the way some people here pronounce the words, "milk." and "mirror." A lot of people here pronounce "milk" as if it was spelled 'melk" and "mirror" as if it was spelled, "meer." A weird accent to hear is spoken by residents of the western half of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Nothing's quite like it.

  • 3 points:

    1. Sorry I fell asleep last night. It was like 3AM.

    2. The word 'county' wins hands down. I almost fell out of my chair it was so funny :)

    3. I wholeheartedly agree with your Missouri comment and also say the same about Alabama.

True story: I was in New York City three weeks ago, and I had to give the cashier what state I was from for some reason, and she automatically assumed Texas. I was apparently the only Southern person she's ever listened to :/

    Loved the video!

  • cool vid bro.
