does the name Marty Mcsorley mean nothing to you? or how about dave schultz? or stu grimson? or tie domi? the list could go on. Hatcher was no where NEAR as dirty or bad as these guys. he was bad, but not a cheapshot artist like the rest of them.
@Grim1son Really? Is that why he is inducted into the hall of fame, won a stanley cup, captained a great stars team for 10 years, won olympic gold, had five 30+ point seasons. He was a great stay at home defenseman that could play on the PK, PP, 5 on 5, and he knew how to neautralize big names on opposing teams. Sure he played physical, i would too if i was 6' 5''. I think Marty Mcsorley and Sean Avery are among the dirtiest players
@Grim1son I actually agree. I hated this guy growing up. He always picked fights with people who didn't fight. How he ever got the C on his jersey is beyond me.
@thaboysarebackintown Uh, no. He did not fight anyone who wanted to fight. He stood up for himself, but he also started shit with little guys. I remember a blues game where he started punching Pavol Demitra. You think some small, slovakian center wants to start fights? Get real. Hatcher was an ass.
He had some good hits though. Good enough to look up on youtube.
@thaboysarebackintown No, no one did anything to Modano. Hatcher was just being an ass. I understand what it's like to have pride your team, but Derian Hatcher was not cool. I mean even in this video it shows him taking a shot at little Sydney Crosby. I mean... Crosby? Seriously? That's just weak.
Plus, you see all these fights with him and people like Foot and Lindros and Hunter. You don't hear about him fighting anyone real, like Twist or Probert or Domi.
@Minacious you dont even know what you are talkinf about kid he fought chase souray lindros what are they figure skaters? twist was older time more of 80s 90sprobert was off his prime... and domi would have been killed by hatcher
hells yeah dude if u want more views put some more stuff for tags, b/c this is actually a very well put together video...great stuff, will miss the Hatchet man haha
Don't remember who from the Avs put Modano out for a few weeks in '98 but I do remember Hatcher turtling everyone he came into contact with during the playoffs game. Awesome.
I remember when he was with the Stars and got suspended, came back and started throwing his body around, and the Stars announcer said "Hatcher has come back and said 'daddy is home, tonight'". One of the best commentators lines ever hahaha.
I will miss watching Hatch go psycho in defense of a teammate. My favorite was him pounding Kelly Bookberger (sp?) and refusing to let him fall. Modano was always a lot braver when Hatch was on the ice.
How did you capture that video. Oh btw the first time crosby went to philly and lost a couple of teeth getting laid out by hatcher the one where he grabbed hatchers stick
God, I love Hatch. The best was when he kicked Ryan Malone's ass in the '08 ECF. Imagine a dude as big as Hatcher pulling your shirt over your face and repeatedly punching you. I'm glad he's still with the Flyers organization, though.
yea he had surgery a few weeks ago and his knee was reconstructed. he got hurt multiple times and he screwed his leg up in the 07-08 season..but he played in the 07-08 playoffs. he didn't play at all in the 08-09 season because of his leg

Derian was a fantastic Hockey player, but am i incorrect if i remember him as one of the slowest skaters of all NHL time? Skating is far from all.

@Minacious He fought anyone who wanted to fight, jackass. He got the C because he was a leader on the Ice and in the Locker room.

I'm just saying.

@Minacious So its weak because he checked Crosby? That makes no sense. He didn't fight Crosby.
Hatcher also fought Langdon and Souray, so don't give me that BS. I'm not saying he was dirty, because he was, but there are far worse than him.

Derian Hatcher is best known for requiring the least amount of punches to drop him in a fight in NHL '96.
