what kind of stuff is the black (not the silicone mat but the other one) sheet made of?? is this the same kind of the cuttlebug embossingpad is? (some kind of foam)
Thanks for sharing your tips....love your videos. So what is the purpose of the rubbing alcohol? Is it so that the design will be more defined on the paper?
from watching this video (and having done etching and embossing using fullsize printing presses) the alcohol seems to be there just to soften the paper enough to take the impression. Adding the extra piece of cardboard increases the pressure and causes the same effect.
eh. was going to run out of room. it might be interesting if you got good quality watercolour, rag or printing paper (you'll need to go to an art store), dampened these using a sponge or handtowel and then run them through the press. :) This is the same technique we use on the fullsize printing presses, we just make our own texture plates or designs to emboss into the paper.
ooh! had another thought xD i'm not sure what you can and can't do with the Big Shot but it might be interesting to roll ink onto the textured plate so that the recesses int he paper are coloured. :)
Another question: I ordered my Big shot... Does the pack include those rubber pads for texture plates? or we have to buy them separately?
