That's sweet. Although anyone who thinks those kids have ANY idea who he is or what he does/believes is a complete moron. All they know is that he read them a story and that as long as the camera is running he is giving them attention.
thats awesome. thats what politicians need to be doing. i cant believe some are critisizing him on this. harper wouldnt be getting any hugs. iggy gets my vote.
I'm personally not nearly as impressed with Harper as I am with the credentials and background as Ignatieff. Those polls dont mean much to me, nor the 1005 people that participated (I point that out because of the relatively small amount of people polled and my distrust of polling, statistics, or presented "numbers" in general).
Ignatieff has an interesting background in my opinion and is much more 'worldy', which is something Canada needs right now. I'd like to see him get a shot.
I don't think the PM would get many hugs in a day care centre. He terminated day care funding set aside by Liberals on his first day in office despite real world programs showing huge returns for every dollar invested on behalf of children.. something Obama identified as "a cornerstone of economic recovery". He still yet to make good on his promise to fund maternity leave for the self employed, a promise which may well have helped him win his minority government.
To his credit Ignatieff was also the only one who seemed to remember "Person's day" this year. " RT @M_Ignatieff 80 years ago this week, 5 courageous women fought for equality & won."
tinyurl*com/ygoyqjy Despite all their recent announcment there was no mention of Person's Day from the "Harper Government", but with their erosion of equal rights why would they?
So sweet. Just when I was worried he was having similar image problems to John Kerry it looks like I may have been wrong.
It may be as much a photo op as Harper's piano playing but those hugs are very spontaneous. He was reading "Little Bear's Big Sweater" at a children's centre.

Oh boy, I can't wait for more of my money to be taken by the government so I can help raise other people's kids.

This is sarcasm right?

If 17.7% polling personal polling numbers constitutes a "fire" for Ignatieff, then at 34.8% Harper must be "Volcanic".
Source: Globe and Mail "Harper widens PM advantage"
I personally disfavour both men and do not see an viable alternative in Jack Layton.
I do believe Canadians deserve a better quality of leader, someone, anyone who is positive and can rise above the political bickering.
I probably sound like I'm describing a mythical or legendary person.

These kids sized up Michael Ignatieff in no time--so what's wrong with the rest of us? He sure is being a sweet guy here!

That's hilarious! Does he do that act on Halloween? I'll bet he hasn't been that close to a child in 30 years!
