  • It's WAAAAAY better than the Odyssey version. I had no idea it was even a cover until I just looked for it on YouTube. I've always known it to be by Pat & Mick! It's much more fun! My favorite version is the Direct Hit version.

  • I won a shit load of dance contests to this song. An all time fav.

  • This was the "confetti" song at Petrus Atlanta back in the ealy 90's. (Opera now) in Atlanta. Would be the closing song on Sunday nights; the gay night. The dj would play a looping remix while the confetti machine machine would shoot out at every 4/4 beat. Funny explaining the next day at work why you had confetti in your ears, clothing, body, etc.

  • @jagerman1566

I love how everyone seems to have these wonderful memories of great club nights attached to this song.

  • I loved dancing to this at the club and the dj would mix the song into its self and it would last 20 minutes!

  • I remember this song from Copacabanna and traxx sanctuary in ct clubs. When this song came on the club would JUMP!! I miss those days!!

  • Pat Sharp?

  • Good times with good friends at Club West Coast, San Diego - such great memories - this song was so popular they use to line dance to it!

  • My friend Peter moved to Halifax from Toronto, and started working at the club where I was dj'ing. This songs was one of his contributions to our playlist. EVERY time we played it, the dance floor filled up and people did this dance, kinda like the macarena...but better. It was a great experience...and it never got boring.

  • HEY SHIRLEY!!..HOW ARE THINGS IN SUNNY PENSYLVANIA ?..

  • The majority of people believe this song/video is geared towards homosexuals. My " Lakewood " comment was insensitive and insulting. For this I apologize to 10 cubman.

  • This is THE quintessential Disco song. It has the "whoot whoot" chant, the 1-2-3 countdown, AND the lifeguard whistle.

  • Love Pat & Micks version of this. If memory serves didn't they donate the money they made from their songs to charity?

  • The dislikes have doubled overnight :P

  • Man a happy Tea Dance at the Boatslip in P-Town!!!

  • Ahhhh the days! Allways will be great dance music - just real fun!!!

  • In Chicago this song would pack the floors. You'd hear the first few bars and there would be a huge drove of people going upstairs to the dance floor. Bistro Too was the club to be at.

  • @libbygurl1 Oh my Lord, you were there too? I was one of the many that ran upstairs at Bistro Too when that opening bassline kicked in. It was such a floorfiller!

  • @libbygurl1 This song was a monster hit in the Atlanta gay clubs also! You are so right, this song would pack the floor!! Miss those fun days.

  • OMG!!!!! Just stumbled on to this clip and time waarped to a crowded dance floor in Orlando FL Parliament House sweating my ass off for the entirety of this song and EVERYONE-I MEAN EVERYONE, was on the dance floor, shirts off and bustin a move!!!!! THX!

  • Circa 1990 and the dance floor goes wild at the Village Station in Dallas...........those were the greatest days. Sorry, kiddies............but you'll never know.

  • Such a wonderful energy song. I played the hell out of it @ Scorpio in Charlotte, NC. Two copies and I had the floor wall to wall packed for 20 minutes. Great times!!!

  • Played live in a big sound system in Boston in the late 80s, this tune was amazing, a total barn-burner. It came out at a moment when people were rediscovering their joy, the discos and partying after years of sadness and grief. Dee-Lite was a big part of this moment, and it was wonderful.

  • @tooby4060 I live in Boston now but I was only 6 when this song was big here. I remember hearing it ALL the time on Kiss 108 when I was a kid. Now that I am living in Boston in 2010, I feel disconnected from the image of Boston nightlife I envisioned when I was little growing up all throughout the 90s. I remember thinking I had something to look forward to when I hit 21! It ain't like that anymore though - theres no real nightclubs or dance music following here anymore...

  • Back in the day when I was dj'ing at Rumours in Halifax, this song would not only fill the dance floor, everyone did this group dance...it was awesome.

  • one place in Omaha....for those who know...The Run!!!!

  • Thanks to Dave @ Wicked Gay Blog for turning me on to this one; Back in my day we'd call this a Floor Sweeper !!!!!! WONDERFUL! Boogie @ its Best

  • OMG! This totally made my day! Say what you want about "disco" but it was happy fuckin' music!! No guns, no bitches, just FUN! EVERYBODY felt beautiful!!!

  • @OhHer01

Exactly. Fun music that sounds great, you can sing along to, dance to, and no inflated ego in sight! (unless you count Pete Waterman lol).

  • Great song but like their other "hit" singles I suspect the vocals had a lot to do with the PWL backing singers!

  • @andrewracker

That's brilliant. Add Mrs. Crabtree at the wheel and you are in a Southpark episode :)

  • saudades

  • Way better than the original and I just LOVE the first minute of the song, how can you not want to get up and shake your body down! Superb job by SAW!

  • Genius mix. One of the better PWL rip-offs of a club sound which really nailed it. Superb!

  • I love this song so much. I wish I could've gone in the clubs and danced to Pat and Mick's music from the late 80's to the early 90's? Do the clubs still play Pat and Mick's music today? I love Pat Sharp and Mick Brown so much they are great DJ'S and I have a crush on Pat Sharp he is so cute, fit hot and so sexy Mick is cute but not as fit as Pat Sharp. I hav their 1993 album Don't Stop Dancin and it's brilliant it's a great album to dance to. Love you forever and I always will Pat and Mick xxxx

  • What a memories in the best club in Medellin, Colombia, we were rich with of the money from de cocaine........

  • I was at Studio 1 in West Hollywood when this debuted.. I was.. 18 or 19??? I feel old now.. lol.. This was hot.. and so was Damian - Time Warp at the club.

  • @MetroAdrian I wanted to get into Studio One so bad. I was too young and had to settle on ODYSSEY instead. (Anyone here remember Odyssey?)

  • @MetroAdrian Awww, good ol' Studio One ... second floor of that warehouse-like building; the good ol' days.

  • I remember Pat and Mick and there music at the Pivoit Club in Appleton, Wisconsin, we danced to it every Saturday night. The Pivoit Club was the biggest dance club in the Fox valley back in 1990.

  • So true about Studio One--what great memories!

  • best

  • Anyone out there remember STUDIO 1 in West Hollywood?? This brings back memories. Thanks a mil!!

  • Petrus Atlanta, GA

  • check out the original by Odyssey on here, it's a classic that's not to be missed ...

  • Defenitely. I love the Odyssey original as well.

  • My friends and I would "shake our bodies down" at Tracks in DC and Charades in Va Beach. Those were great times.

  • I had no idea this song had been such a success on the club scene. I'm jealous of everyone who Shook Their Bodies Down to this at the club at the time!

  • even in Nashville, TN....at the Warehouse 28

  • I used to LOVE Tracks!

  • @dupont94 this song reminds me of badlands, who are you dupont94? I bet I l know you

  • I always thought Bannarama sang this. No wonder I could not find it........

  • Oh well, same producers (Stock, Aitken & Waterman) so no far off :)

  • Odyssey sang the original

  • Simply perfect!! To add to other comments, it brings back memories of 'Studio 619' in Toronto! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • My pleasure :)

  • Oh man... take your hat off, son.

  • ...or Rumours in Halifax - those were gay ol' times ;-)

  • Yes, it was a great club - I dropped by whist I was visiting Halifax.

  • I am not normally a great fan of cover versions but I always thought this was superior to the Odyssey original.

  • @ari979 Definitely!

  • brings back memories of the Boat Slip in Provincetown, circa 1990.
