I recall dancing to this song at the Cartwheel in New Hope, PA at the Ladies parties for lesbians back in the 90's. Awesome times! Clubbin is the best!
Boy oh boy was a HUGE hit when it came out!..I played it so much it was used up and worn out when I finally retired it! Major classic. PWL Records, England. 1990.
It's WAAAAAY better than the Odyssey version. I had no idea it was even a cover until I just looked for it on YouTube. I've always known it to be by Pat & Mick! It's much more fun! My favorite version is the Direct Hit version.
This was the "confetti" song at Petrus Atlanta back in the ealy 90's. (Opera now) in Atlanta. Would be the closing song on Sunday nights; the gay night. The dj would play a looping remix while the confetti machine machine would shoot out at every 4/4 beat. Funny explaining the next day at work why you had confetti in your ears, clothing, body, etc.
My friend Peter moved to Halifax from Toronto, and started working at the club where I was dj'ing. This songs was one of his contributions to our playlist. EVERY time we played it, the dance floor filled up and people did this dance, kinda like the macarena...but better. It was a great experience...and it never got boring.
The majority of people believe this song/video is geared towards homosexuals. My " Lakewood " comment was insensitive and insulting. For this I apologize to 10 cubman.
YUP! This song was the 1st one I ever heard & saw MALE strippers dancing to when I "came out" in 1989 at The Gay 90's in Minneapolis! So it has real fond memories for me! :)
In Chicago this song would pack the floors. You'd hear the first few bars and there would be a huge drove of people going upstairs to the dance floor. Bistro Too was the club to be at.
@libbygurl1 Oh my Lord, you were there too? I was one of the many that ran upstairs at Bistro Too when that opening bassline kicked in. It was such a floorfiller!
OMG!!!!! Just stumbled on to this clip and time waarped to a crowded dance floor in Orlando FL Parliament House sweating my ass off for the entirety of this song and EVERYONE-I MEAN EVERYONE, was on the dance floor, shirts off and bustin a move!!!!! THX!
Circa 1990 and the dance floor goes wild at the Village Station in Dallas...........those were the greatest days. Sorry, kiddies............but you'll never know.
Such a wonderful energy song. I played the hell out of it @ Scorpio in Charlotte, NC. Two copies and I had the floor wall to wall packed for 20 minutes. Great times!!!
Played live in a big sound system in Boston in the late 80s, this tune was amazing, a total barn-burner. It came out at a moment when people were rediscovering their joy, the discos and partying after years of sadness and grief. Dee-Lite was a big part of this moment, and it was wonderful.
@tooby4060 I live in Boston now but I was only 6 when this song was big here. I remember hearing it ALL the time on Kiss 108 when I was a kid. Now that I am living in Boston in 2010, I feel disconnected from the image of Boston nightlife I envisioned when I was little growing up all throughout the 90s. I remember thinking I had something to look forward to when I hit 21! It ain't like that anymore though - theres no real nightclubs or dance music following here anymore...

Way better than the original and I just LOVE the first minute of the song, how can you not want to get up and shake your body down! Superb job by SAW!
I love this song so much. I wish I could've gone in the clubs and danced to Pat and Mick's music from the late 80's to the early 90's? Do the clubs still play Pat and Mick's music today? I love Pat Sharp and Mick Brown so much they are great DJ'S and I have a crush on Pat Sharp he is so cute, fit hot and so sexy Mick is cute but not as fit as Pat Sharp. I hav their 1993 album Don't Stop Dancin and it's brilliant it's a great album to dance to. Love you forever and I always will Pat and Mick xxxx
I was at Studio 1 in West Hollywood when this debuted.. I was.. 18 or 19??? I feel old now.. lol.. This was hot.. and so was Damian - Time Warp at the club.
I remember Pat and Mick and there music at the Pivoit Club in Appleton, Wisconsin, we danced to it every Saturday night. The Pivoit Club was the biggest dance club in the Fox valley back in 1990.
I had no idea this song had been such a success on the club scene. I'm jealous of everyone who Shook Their Bodies Down to this at the club at the time!
