The Air Rail Link Trains are not diesel-electric. The engines will emit 3x more NOx than the cars it will replace. It will be about a wash in terms of CO2.

Really well these Diesel-Electric Trains Use less fuel then a transport truck using a 2500hp CAT diesel generator to power the electric drive to move and power everything on the train.... some with 14 coaches ,Each weighing in at 100,000 lb each its all rather Efficient ... extremely clean aswell, Also theres no emissions since there using clean diesel engines!!

Let Premier McGuinty know what you think of his plan to run hundreds of polluting diesel trains every day through the densely populated neighbourhoods of Liberty Village, Parkdale, Roncesvalles Village, Brockton, The Junction, Mount Dennis, Davenport, and Weston. @safetyvlv Coal is not the only way to produce electricity. Calgary's LRT system uses wind power! There are ways.
