  • Wig-Wags are still up as June 21, 2010.

  • which crossings in windsor were wig-wags anyway?

  • Nice to see some wig wags still in use, whether they're in Canada, the U.S., or anywhere.

  • what city is this in? and what street is it on?

  • It's on Gleason Line, a concession road east of the Town of Tilbury, which is along Highway 401 east of Windsor, Ontario.

  • aww that sux id of paid big bucks to get crossings =(

  • First, Thanks for subscribing to my videos, hope you enjoy them. Second, is the wig-wag still in place, and how much traffic runs on this line per day??? Is there any other opperating wig-wags in Canada??? Thanks again, and take care. jackdk...

  • It's still there, but is slated to be removed within a year unfortunately.

This is the only confirmed wig wag on an operating line in Canada, although apparantly 2 concessions over on the same line, there is another pair (also slated for removal). Knowing CN, they'll be scrapped and not donated/preserved.

As for train frequency, I think it's now a tri-weekly service. I got really lucky when I video'd this (no scanner, pure luck), and havesince returned for more photos/video with sound too!

  • Is there a red light in the middle of the swinging paddle?

    Thank you.

  • Yes there is a red light on the banner.

  • Canada is okay, but acording to my Canadian teacher I had when I was seven and eight years old it's very cold around there nearly all year.

  • It depends. Winters can get to around -35 celcius a few times a year, and its not uncommon for summer temps to average the mid-high 20's.

  • Nice to see a Wig-Wag, on the CASO, but aren't those tracks gone now?

  • No, it's on the line just east of Tilbury. CN has kept the piece between Fargo (Blenheim) and Windsor (as well as the old C&O between Fargo & Chatham) as they're "main line" to/from Windsor so that they don't have to deal with the CP diamond west of Chatham. VIA trains still use the former CN mainline between Chatham & Windsor, which VIA now owns/maintains.

  • Ah, ok i think i saw this Wig-Wag on the railfan . ca page on YouTube
