  • rien a dire

  • i love u honda

  • Please advise on how to overcome or reduce noising sound on i-VTEC valve ?

  • will it blend?

    nah jk lol

  • 04 ACCORD I-VTEC GET AT ME

  • It would be cool if they slapped two of those babies together :)

  • shitty quality!!!!!!11

  • Thsi quality is soooo bad I cant watch it.

  • Crapy video, I understand nothing about Vtec after listening this video.

  • @1997RegalGS lol. sorry man, this isn't the video to learn about vtec... i-vtec and vtec is different.

  • The new k24 for the new civics are garbage they should have just thrown a ap2 2.2 liter In that bitch instead

  • it would be great if Honda did all these for the F series on s2k.

  • 240p we meet again

  • i vtec ... best engine ever, ... CIVIC SI 2011

  • Can you make this video with a K20z4? its the one in the civic type r :-)

    Nice video :-)

  • is that blue stuff air? And the orange stuff is teh ignition right?

  • @mopartrevor426 the i in i-VTEC stands for intelligent, because it is a more intelligent version of its predecessor.

@sctflasher379 the difference is this VTEC is more intelligent than earlier versions of VTEC. it provides better power AND increased fuel economy

@Chispiolo the k20 i-VTEC is more power tuned\oriented, but uses the same technologies as this motor

please people, do your research before you ask questions like this...took 5 seconds to google...

  • I dont like the all aluminum block and plastic intake manifold. no thank you ill gladly go with the infamous H22 or G23 vtec

  • that is a lot of HP for a 1.8 single cam engine! Honda is the best for engineering the most advanced engines. mind you Honda made the F20C engine, the most HP per liter of any naturally aspirated car engine

  • @MW2guideVideos So your're sticking to some heavy ass american ####?

  • im still confused. whats the diff between vtec and i-vtec?

  • @sctflasher379 i've been wondering that as well, i think the "i" in ivtec stands for independent and in ivtec each cylinder's has its own seperate vtec so when vtec is engaged its not working on all four cylinders to give better fuel economy, hope this helps

  • but this isn'r the same as the k20 i vtec or is it ??

  • Nice a 5kg engine, fuel economy, less emissions, and improve vtec at deviate rpm.

  • Comment removed

  • You introduced the Airflow Meter? DUDE, EVERY CAR HAS THAT!

  • A TYPE of variable valve timing may have been used in steam engines. Honda spends a huge amount of its revenue in reserch and developement, and VTEC IS a Honda invention. Ikuo Kajitani working for Honda R+D department invented it.

  • I Vtec is kind of a reversed Vtec from what I see

  • All of the technology for this engine is taken from other manufacturers such as Ford, Nissan and Toyota yet they're claiming it as they're own. I drive a Honda, but I'm actually quite disappointed after watching this video.

  • @SRIreland1 Honda invented variable valve timing. Are you saying they stole the follow-up technology from other manufacturers to make i-VTEC? Because I doubt there would be any technology to steal if Honda didn't invent it in the first place...

  • @redhead8793 Variable Valve timing was first used in steam engines so without that there would be none of this, Alfa Romeo were the first company to use it in cars........

The stuff i'm saying they stole is the inlet from Ford, the piston oil jets from Toyota,

  • I've watched this about 5 times in a row already and I still find it very fascinating.

  • Its not that American cars "completely" lack variable valve technology its just they are slow to adopt technology in cars that A) increases fuel econony and B) reduces emissions, so variable valve technology, fuel injection and direct injection are not big features in American cars. I would hazard to guess the strength of America to ensure it has lower market gas prices is part of the problem. If American pays nearly "$2 a Gallon", in NZ we are paying $2 a litre ( 3.7-3.9 litres in a gallon) :P

  • sounds like gt5 music lol

  • Nice. Why does some one always has to put a stupid comment. For example "why don't america cars have vtec technology." what and idiot. Almost all of the car makers have variable valve timing they just call it something elses. If car companies would put vtec on the valve covers, they would be a big ass lawsuit because that name is a Honda trade mark. I think Toyota calls there valve timing VVT.

  • why cant american car have VTEC Technology

  • I felt like I was at some Honda seminar or something... Very informational though

  • this engine shoild have gone into Honda CR-Z!!

  • @NitroExplosion88 but the crz is lame

  • @NitroExplosion88 Yep I agree, but at least the new SI has got the 2.4L ivtec now

  • @NitroExplosion88 it will be soon

  • EURO HA HA H AHAHAH AND ALL MOTOR LOGO, LOWTECH WITH TURBOCHAGER ,ALL TECHNICAL IN TURBOCHAGER AND VVT. 1876-present with HIGH EMMISSON

  • EURO HA HA H AHAHAH AND ALL MOTOR LOGO, LOWTECH WITH TURBOCHAGER AND VVT. 1876-present with HIGH EMMISSON

  • its all about the technology we developed since the 60's and early 70's(muscle car era). If american car companies took the technology of today's high output small engines (hondas vtec engines) and put them on the beasty displacements of older ford/ gm technology we could really be making some horses. Subaru's boxer motor is perfectly balanced, so the perfect engine in my mind would be a boxer 8 with vtec on both banks of that motor.

  • @GarrettKeetley Yeah but look at like.... hyundai. A inline 4 Turbo that makes 275 hp and gets 22 city, 34 hwy. and its a sedan. And the same with the new Mustang. Thats why im saying they need to up their power, especially for a inline 4 coupe and Still get great gas mileage.

  • I will take mine without the cracked rods lol oh and fuck tuner boys get some torque then call me.

  • Honda needs to up the power on the vtec. they suck right now

  • Pile of crap. If ur not a treehugger like me and done give a damn about the economy, go with a chevy 350, ford 302, or mopar 383.

  • @stlchevy95, so if somebody has this motor theyre a tree hugger? not really. my civic has this motor and im not a tree hugger. besides, just because this engine has great fuel economy, doesnt mean it cant make some solid horsepower. I mean, youll definately have to boost it to do that but still.

  • @GarrettKeetley you're an idiot. keep your stupid comments to yourself.

  • Piston oil jets, hmmm. the 1990's plymouth laser, or mitsubishi eclipse had a 2.0L turbo, with guess what Piston oil jets!

  • two MUST words that should be the north nowadays automotive technology, ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE!

  • This engine is for the 2006 and up Civic, right?

Wow. It also have a "cracked connecting rods" like the Mercedes too.

  • VVTi ; SLOW ,FAST SPEED CAMSHAFT COMBINE WITH TROTTLE VALVE.

  • LIFT VALVE ; NON VVTi

  • @dragonfistSSJ4 VVTi ; SLOW ,FAST SPEED INTAKE CAMSHAFT COMBINE WITH TROTTLE VALVE.

  • @dragonfistSSJ4 DUAL VVTi ; SLOW ,FAST SPEED INTAKE & EXTUAST CAMSHAFTS COMBINE WITH TROTTLE VALVE.VVTi CAMSHAFT SENSORS.

  • VTEC JUST KICKD IN YOO!

  • 100 years after the engine was born, VTEC technology finally reconciles drivability in everyday use and outright performance, creating the first uncompromising engine.

  • its too bad honda has become like toyota. nothing much to talk about

  • Lol, Torquey driving performance @ 5:00

  • @imadude10

What you want honda to cheat and put a turbo or supercharger in to get easy HP and torque?

  • what should i put in my civic for racing?

    a b18 vtec or a k20a i vtec?

  • @bmx2dayy k20z1 (that's the acura integra rsx-s engine) is like 215hp.

  • JDM

  • wow this topic is popular, its good tech, but still hondas are not race cars nor the fastest imports its the hype and the ricers that kill it i even used to own a da9 on 10psi(t3) but in the end its just a honda. economy is good in them but there are other cars equal or better(and worse) for me toyotas are a step ahead period.

  • @ST165SLEEPER Thank you that's what I've been saying. Toyotas a better brand. Hell the Accord only gets 31 mpg while Toyota and even some American counterparts are getting more (Ford Fusion 34) Honda can flash their 31 mpg in commercials and make it look like alot when it isn't at this point Honda's name is selling their cars.

Ricers just kiss Honda's ass because they want something cheap to race in and a car's racing ability doesn't depict the actual value of the car.

  • @ST165SLEEPER u got it twisted the other way bro if anything honda was always one step further than toyota , honda makes the best engines period , honda were the first ones to create variable valve timing and lift, the fist ones to make the hp per liter egine the first ones to create 4ws the first ones to create electronic abs on a motorcycle and dual assisted abs on motorcycles they have the best engineers period so check ur facts cause i can talk abut on what honda has invented all day.

  • @SS81320901 Hondas automobile engines are considered giant motorcycle engines so what r u saying , the 2JZ is the only good engine toyota made.

  • @SS81320901 also had the first aluminum space frame on the NSX, the first aluminum body on the NSX. The designer of the Mclaren F1 didn't use a ferrari, or a lambo, or a porsche, or any other german, italian, british, or american car to base his machine on; he chose the Honda NSX. Toyota can lick honda's ass when it comes to quality materials, engineering, and innovation. Toyota is left far behind honda. sorry to say but i would take a ford over a toyota any day... and i hate "american" cars 0_o

  • thats really amazing how much components take part of this little engine. .

  • But as much as I love Ford and other American companies I still love my Honda Integra DC5.

  • Uh American cars are just as reliable. Last time I checked Ford is leading the way for the future of American cars, just look at how successful the Focus and Fusion are. While GM and other companies struggled during the recession Ford's stock was steadily climbing and still is, their next generation of cars are going to set the new standard. Ford learned from it's mistakes in the past.

  • @USSRman45 ya Ford's actually turning a profit this time around. And believe it or not Buick of all people are tying with Lexus in reliability ratings.

  • Honda is the number 1 in technology!

For me no American crap, but Japanese superior technology. Americans can learn from them!

  • It is apparent to me that the fan boys of both sides of the aisle on this comment string don't know what they are talking about. They say the meek shall inherit the earth. For the sake of all mankind, I hope it isn't in reference to mental faculty.

  • it's not the ecomony the main point..it's better performance with the same amount of fuel

  • lol and hondas still suck, so in other words vtec is for economy not power. even type r's make what 220 hp and like zero torque HAAAAAAAAhahahahaa

  • @ST165SLEEPER omg you are a dick head. this is a 1.8l BLACKTOP. of course its for economy. thats what its made for. if it was a Red Top V-tec it would kick in twice as hard and much later. cos black top vtec is low end crossover rather than a later kick.

there always has to be some idiot talking shit about stuff he dont know...

thats why you drive a dirty ass looking celica... LOL

  • @RussianPIMP64 thats exactly the point have it look like a slow honda, then smoke ur punk ass k20a or f20c, vtec isn't all that thats why companies like toda have a vtec killer cam. never assume the one u talk to doesn't know what he is saying. what i am against is the hype that comes with vtec like its some sort of super technology. its not that special get over it.

  • Can someone tell me the difference between i-VTEC and VTEC?

  • ive never had an older v-tec but i think the old v-tec used oil pressure to change the cam timing as the newer "i" -v-tec is totally managed by the ECU. someone please correct me if im wrong

  • I'LL try to explain:

VTEC: There are two configurations, low speed (rotation) and high speed (rotation) to valve control. In I-VTEC, the control of opening and closing are constant to each rotation, to each moment, instead to VTEC that two configuration, low and high.

    Did you understand?

  • all of you are stupid. buy a car that suits you and stop pretending its the best fuckin thing that ever happened to the world...u guys are any diff than kids with 240s thinkin they are d1 drifters once they own it

  • haha true

  • Honestly, I own a vette and a RSX type S. I've beaten all different kinds of car in both and to me i think think its all about the driver... and whether they have the bank account to mod the car.

  • lol! my DC5 gets me 33mpg hwy and yeah i can beat v8 mustangs in the streets and at the track and its BONE STOCK! ha ha ha! v8 sucks!!!!

  • lmao bullshiiiit

  • Hahaha,

You can't beat a Mustang GT in the "streets" nor on a track.

Plus, bragging about getting good fuel economy is like bragging about being POOR.

  • those new 1.8 engines are peppy! :)

  • Honda 4 Ever!

i got a neighbor with a custom civic, and it sounds awsome.. the car almost touches the ground and it makes an amasing sound when he shifts to the 2nd gear.

i wanna have a honda civic for my birthday xD

  • sounds like ur describing a ricer...r u like 13 or something?

  • I'm 16, but mentally I'm only 10 or 9 :P

  • i can see that...thats the way i used to think when i was 10...

  • epic fail

  • the vtec isnt exactly sports car *fast* but more of speed while fuel economic. thats pretty much why i love this car. great car for a sophomore.

  • @ramod123 you just cant face the fact hondas are quick and you think there slow.just becuz its real cheap dont mean there not fast.you dont need no expensive ass car to be fast

  • While it is true you don't need a supercar to be fast, it is all in your opinion what "fast" is.

  • lol so what is fast to you???

  • vtec is the best, i love b-series vtec motors, i have a b17a1 1.7 liter vtec under the hood of my gsr, love that motor man, honda keep up the good work

  • @integra0guy for me its the b-seies and k-series

  • @importkilla89 i also forgot to add would u ever race a honda for slips??

  • if i had a Mustang GT yes i would. My cuzin and his best friend only raced for money. If a honda civic is Stock and if i had a mustang GT stock. I would race for slips. Honda Civic are no comparison to fucking mustangs. Honda Civic STOCK is sloooooww! Get it through your head!

  • @importkilla89 stock civics are not slow, ur just pissed cuz ur car isnt fast while it saves gas

  • @xYOURxNOTxALONEx lol saving gas isnt my problem. i got other problems to deal with than thinking about saving gas. having power is what i need. and my car does save gas fyi. and yes stock civics are slow. unless you've never been in a fast car before.

  • @importkilla89 civics are fast some people just baby them and drive them slow there is a big difference between the 2 and ive seen civics crush your precious mustang GT in races. if u want a mustang just look on the side of the road you'll find plenty cuz thats were they belong or even better in line at the junkyard waitin to be crushed fuck fords JDM ALL THE WAY BITCH

  • @xYOURxNOTxALONEx seriously. . never in my life have i seen a mustang on the side of the road fucked up. maybe i have but the that i dont remember. mostly little fords. and if those two civics that beat the mustangs weren't stock at all i can tell you that. cuz if they were stock im pretty sure the guys in the mustang cant drive for shit. JDM can suck my dick. take your little baby engines back to Japan for racing. they can stay for fuel saving. and thats the reason most people drive it =)

  • @xYOURxNOTxALONEx thats true, i know i baby my 92 integra gsr , it has a b17a1 1.7 liter vtec, importkilla89 don't know what b-series in civics and integra's are caple of destroyin a mustang is a piece of cake, but not everyone wants to rev it up to the redline, b-series are high rev motors, but alot of us choose not too there are some that will do just to prove civics are not slow

  • @integra0guy yea especially in chicago with all these damn potholes honda owners are real careful and baby their cars cuz they wanna keep them rollin rite til they have to floor it to show sumone whats good with hondas. its so amazing tho how a motor so small can pack such a big punch

  • @xYOURxNOTxALONEx yeah it is amazing how small the motor is and it packs a punch, many of those domestic guys don't have a clue bout v-tec, their ignorant and think their american v-8's are better, when i've seen a few 5.0 liter mustangs smked by a few civics in my town, we keep the domestic guys in check from where i'm from, yeah pot holes suck i hate pot holes

  • people like you are why us honda owners get made fun of

  • then get a mustang that cost only 20k and rusts in two years.....

  • lol then why do i still see 80's 90's mustangs driving around? go suck a dick you dont kno shit about mustangs lol. fucking ricer

  • ur a loser and i own a k20z so please shut ur mouth and stop makin us look stupid. our car is not that fast stock. sorry, it isnt. we're in the same class as the cobalt ss and the srt4...they'd stomp us to an oblivion

  • @LOKnivzOP what the fuck u talkin bout??

  • I need to know more about this intake manifold sounds realy intresting

  • honda knows what they are doing i gotta give them that

  • my turbo lag gives your v8 a chance jdm all day

  • have you ever noticed that your muscle cars were not that powerful for the size or their engine and were heavy? for example, the mustang has a 4.6L V8 and 300hp! if you look at audi, the R8's engine has 4.2L and 420hp... and if you look at toyota, the supra's 2JZ-GTE (twin-turbo) has a 3L inline 6 of 320hp.. and, it's not every turbo car that has big turbo lag. if you have a very big turbo then a low rpm you have some lag. but at higher rpm, it smokes any muscle cars.

  • @GTtuner56 yeah it comes with good amount of hp when you have a big block v8 engine. 300 hp is nothing? how much does your honda have? 130? and thats really sad that the supra only has 320 hp with twin turbo. if i were to put twin turbo on a mustang with the torque that it already has it'll whoop any jap crap. and i give respect to all audis cuz they arent made from Japan. and if you kno much about turbo and have the right person to install it you should have no lag at all. low or high RPM.

  • its not all about power a s2000 with a stock 2.0 liter is makeing 240 N/A hp thats 100hp per litter plus it can go around turns faster too. their is no v8 big block that puts out 100hp per liter with out the help of a turbo or supercharger. a import car can go just as fast as a american car can and somtimes faster. so you shouldnt be so rude.

  • @ImportKilla89 nobody needs a 500hp v8 daily driver

  • who says nobody. YOU dont need a 500hp v8 car. Someone like me and american muscle lovers do.

  • you are an idiot. I personally am not an American car person and own an S2000 myself, but I can respect American cars for what they are. Comparing a mustang to "japanese cars" as a whole is ridiculous in its scope. Narrowing it down to specific cars is ridiculous as well. A 130 hp honda would be something like a civic. Comparing that to a Mustang is completely unwarranted as anyone can turn around and say that ford's economy cars suck in comparison to a Supra or GT-R or something similar.

  • Also, Supras are stock at 320, but easily make much, much more. As far as displacement goes, an RX-7 rotary engine is 1.3 L but is capable of producing 250 hp stock and much more relatively easily. Finally, a word about turbocharging. to have a turbo setup that increases peak horsepower, you are going to have lag. If what you want is increased bottom end power, that is possible with little lag, but you won't see top end gains that YOU would be looking for.

  • @shadowpenguin36 Your the idiot. Mustangs now have had a big improvement on fuel economy. What do you expect a v8 to save as much fuel as a Honda? And second Supra sucks unless its not stock. A Mustang Cobra would eat it any day. And GT-Rs? dont give me that bullshit cuz no fucker could afford the new Skyline unless you got real money. And the older ones are not even illegal in the US. So why bother?? And i dont care about fuel saving. Im all about racing. No stock honda civic can beat a Mustang

  • @ImportKilla89 I never said anything about Mustangs' fuel economy. I was simply pointing out the ridiculousness of comparing a run of the mill ford (like a focus or escort or something) to a high performance japanese car. Obviously, the economy car will not be as quick in any respect. However, that is the argument you are making by comparing a mustang to a "130 hp Honda" which would be something like a civic or honda fit or something in that range. It is comparing apples to oranges.

  • @shadowpenguin36 i think a 1990 190 hp mustang vs a 1990 civic is a fair race.

till the honda hits 2nd gear

  • @shadowpenguin36 I like tuners myself ... i just love boost

  • @shadowpenguin36 ok so why is there so many honda people saying that mustangs suck compared to little honda civics? saying how much it'll beat it STOCK. thats bullshit bro.

  • Comment removed

  • @GTtuner56 most of them werent powerful compared to todays standards. but back then it was impressive. getting that much power out of a car 43 years ago was amazing.

  • @mastaajbomb American cars ? Yeah, in the 60's and 70's, having 425hp was incredible indeed. even to today's standards, it's a lot.

  • @GTtuner56 ya but if its a 2000hp iron boat it cant beat a 60hp go kart. power isnt shit if the car is heavy which old muscle cars are. power to weight ratio is what matters

  • @ importkilla89.. never under estimate a honda prick

  • i always do. and always will.

  • @ImportKilla89 lol yeee haa redneck ass go get your chevrolet 4x4 200 miles to the tank 32 gallon fill up POS that falls apart at 100,000 miles and hate on hondas an importsall day cause 4 cylinders are doubling fuel economy. maybe your opinion on hondas is high performance 4 cylinders that get 30mpg and are built of high quality to last and still hang with the great ol' american chevys. hmm well thats your opinion i know what im going to buy... where teh nearest honda dealership!!!

  • who says im a redneck? im far from being a redneck. you dont gatta be a redneck to own american muscle cars. how would you like it for me to tell you your a lil kid for having lil "fast wannabe" hondas? who cares about saving fuel? its all about having power. I give full respect to hondas when it comes to saving gas. but not for power and racing unless you have money for better and high performance. what do you expect?

  • we have a v8 engine under the hood. we know what we gunna deal wit. saving gas isnt my problem when it comes to american muscle. thats why i'll have a little car on the side to go to work and skool.

  • @ImportKilla89 muscle cars are only good in straight lines and in case you haven't noticed even in America roads have corners so an import tuner would still win

  • @ghtthg1221 lol no its not. haven't you seen american cars racing in a real lap track? i have. corvettes can handle better than most japan imports.

  • "Honda" Makes The Best Engines Period. They Don't Give You Problem's Like Those Other Car Company's And "Honda" Are Willing To Show You How They They Make Improvment's On There Engine's.

  • iVtec type R DOHC is totally insane

  • i just bought a brand new si last summer and the base models dont have a v tec un them

  • @mopar8903 yes they do

  • its the sameee honda sold the i vtec system to other

  • lame......i dont trust electronic throttle control.....one glitch and you loose engine control

  • If they threw the catalytic converter in the bin (Which converts carbon monoxide to dioxide, killing us later instead of now) they would get all the power back that the cat strangles out of all motors,as the engine has to force the exhaust gasses through the matrix.

  • Homer Simpson: mmmmmmmmmm...... i-vtec

  • it always same to vvt engine

  • so is this engine in all new civics?

  • No, it's an option.

  • so witch civic has that engine

  • acura rsx

  • The ones that are not base models...

  • first was accord in 99 or 00,civic in 01,I recommand u type-r from 01-2005,its crazy

  • i dont mean to sould like a smart ass but most new civics that have it says I-VTEC on the side

  • Actually ALL civics have it and if not, all Honda's made today have it. Even SOHC engines made by Honda has v-tec, Only the Si (Sport injected) has i-vtec on the side because it's v-tec is stronger than non Si's.

  • pretty much all hondas are i vtec now

  • i meant to say air in other post*** any ways... are power and rpm are controlled by the amount of fuel from are fuel injection pumps. this is old technology... and i don't wanna brag but.. and this is for u Honda lovers. American's.. as in ford and gm are finally getting independent suspension. yay! there really slow!!!

  • alright. what i c is that they adjust the valves have oil cooling jets and adjusting intake....... what year is this from? my 1992 Mercedes 300d 2.5 turbo and my brothers 1987 300d have this. but in different ways. we have oil pumped into lifter for the valves to go farther open. we have the same oil jets under are's because there diesels and we also have a non pump action. but instead of a flap being moved all the time ares can suck as much are as they want they control the power and rpm...

  • anyone wana see a v-tec v8 ? i think that would be amzing

  • v8 or inline 8? if its inline 8 it would be too wide to fit in the chassy. the new car have v10 in them now its engine bay is super huges -.-

  • @tifon128 It would be cool but Honda wouldn't do that. For the same reason that Ford won't use individual rear suspension in the Mustang.

Besides we've seen what happens when Honda tries to make a big engine. Ridgeline = FAIL (Bad fuel economy for a V6 versus alot of Fullsize V8s)

  • r18=pos d17=ftw :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • im planning to convert my ls integra's heads for some gs-r heads. just to get that v-tec. is it a good idea?

  • No. Just save up your money and buy a better car. That's what I did.
