I'm very glad that Miyazaki wasn't allowed to make the landlady the 'real brains' of the show, that concept would've ruined the series. Still, I'm glad this was made. Holmes stories with a Miyazaki vibe are exactly what I need, even if it includes anthropomorphic characters.

That's ridiculous, it sounds like thoughtless reverse-sexism, Japan's awful about that. It's a fun show and it's a good way for kids to learn about Sherlock Holmes, but I honestly don't like the direction the show took.

@Memmiliio They refers probably to the hound dog. A hound is a kind of dog that assists hunters by tracking or chasing the animal being hunted. In fact all the characters of this anime are anthropomorphic dogs.

What the? This isn't the opening song for Sherlock Hound. At least not the ones I watched. For the ones I watched it was always the Japanese song without the words being sung. RAI Tv co-produced some episode with TMS and created a different opening song from the Japanese. An American user posted your same comment after he saw this intro. So I think this opening has never been broadcasted in UK and USA.
@Olanov I agree with you. Only when the Japanese version has lyrics. Otherwise, the tune was more fitting. It sounded British, fit the animation's rhythm, and gave Sherlock a more heroic and noble air. When it has lyrics I agree with you completely that the other is superior.

@Memmiliio@Memmiliio in some ways you are right, but in this case I believe you are wrong. Why I prefer the version I remember listening to over this one is because it fit Sherlocks character more. It was British sounding which is what the makers purpose was. Unfortunately, I found out the there were lyrics for that version too, which I think demeaned the impact and feel of the song.
Besides the fact that it sounds British, there are two main reasons why I prefer my version over this one. First, have you actually listened to the lyrics of this song? "You've got all the qualities we look for in a man." Not mentioning the fact that he is not a man it sounds like it is a love song with his name repeatedly thrown in there. Also it doesn't seem to me that that the music matches the rhythm of the pictures. Don't get me wrong I like this song a lot, but not for this animation.

What the? This isn't the opening song for Sherlock Hound. At least not the ones I watched. For the ones I watched it was always the Japanese song without the words being sung. This opening song is horrible compared to the other!! It's so corny and dumb. Are you sure that this was the original opeining song for teh english version!? It definitely wasn't for the ones that I watched when younger.

I know. This opening has been created for Italian public tv.
RAI Tv co-produced some episode with TMS and created a different opening song from the Japanese. An American user posted your same comment after he saw this intro. So I think this opening has never been broadcasted in UK and USA.

@Olanov I agree with you. Only when the Japanese version has lyrics. Otherwise, the tune was more fitting. It sounded British, fit the animation's rhythm, and gave Sherlock a more heroic and noble air. When it has lyrics I agree with you completely that the other is superior.

@DragonoftheMaster Hey! In my opinion this song fits much better to the whole series and this video! Opening like this without good beat and singing is terrible...

@Memmiliio @Memmiliio in some ways you are right, but in this case I believe you are wrong. Why I prefer the version I remember listening to over this one is because it fit Sherlocks character more. It was British sounding which is what the makers purpose was. Unfortunately, I found out the there were lyrics for that version too, which I think demeaned the impact and feel of the song.

Besides the fact that it sounds British, there are two main reasons why I prefer my version over this one. First, have you actually listened to the lyrics of this song? "You've got all the qualities we look for in a man." Not mentioning the fact that he is not a man it sounds like it is a love song with his name repeatedly thrown in there. Also it doesn't seem to me that that the music matches the rhythm of the pictures. Don't get me wrong I like this song a lot, but not for this animation.

I'm so glad that I discovered this quality show. It's not widely known that it's one of Myazaki's early works. So, unsurprisingly, it's a quality show which I really like.
