LR was a pioneer along with Bo Diddley and a few others. I dont believe it's possible to listen to his music and not move your body...or at least your soul.
Nope, not the '64 Vee Jay version. The sax break on that version strays well away from the Specialty version. Which was I believe recorded 'on the road' without the usual band. Try the '77 version on Creole records LP Little Richard Now? Incidentally worth seeing Richard using TWO synchronised drummers on his later gigs. I recall Richard saying to Charlie Gillett he'd recut his songs in 77 to improve his royalty deal from the Specialty days. Further reading 'The Quasar of Rock' by Chas White.
@Tpow1985 i was actually just making a point that despite all these film and games that they proberly are in that u and other people say i just like song bottom line
@Felduin Well, thanks for your nice words. My point was that I never noticed that the intro of Rock'n'Roll (by Led Zeppelin) was very similar to the one of Keep a Knocking (by Little Richard). I suppose it's very apropos, since the theme of the Zeppelin song.
@ClueBand i know what u meant, but first i think the intro doesnt sound anything like the intro of rock´n roll by Zeppelin, and second i just wanted to express how retarded i find the people who constantly keep on bashing zeppelin for "ripping off music", blues music was always "ripped off".....but dont let us start this stupid discussion again
I think my problem is that they don't need to knock, they don't even need to push the door... it's wide fucking open and try as I might it's gonna keep flapping open so I guess 'll have to accept that and do some knockin of my own
Lil Richard must have been a time traveler, because he traveled to the future to rip this off from Led Zeppelins "Rock and Roll" from Led Zep IV. lols
@lauraevc Actually, Page said that Rock and Roll came to be when Bonham started drumming the intro to Keep a Knockin (during a jam session) and then Page himself added a guitar riff. After that all the Zeppelin members joined in, and that song came to be Rock and Roll. :)
@dancingbatterystudio yeah, this version is good stuff n'all, but for some strange reason it's a bit of a challenge to find his original recorded takes here on youtube...
when your sick like me and you dont want anybody to see you play this song and i think that they will get the message that you are trying to send out which would be YOU CANT COME IN!
no its not just you i think thats where bonham got that from it sounds to much like it little richard influenced alot of rock n rollers including elvis...little richard is great
