The Dalai Lama may have told the people not to practice DS, but it is ultimately their choice whether or not they continue with their ways. It's not an issue to bring up with the Dalai Lama, but rather with the individuals. The Dalai Lama is a teacher, that does not make his word absolute, and though his advice is worth listening to, it's not the end of the world if people disagree with him.

I remember my Guru clearly said that if shouldn't allow ourselves to be rude, even if we feel the person is deserving of it! The reason being, we are operating out of self cherishing mind. Once we give ourselves a reason to justify for our actions, we will get used to doing it. Before long, we will be engaging in actions which may be detrimental to ourselves and others.

Many from within Tibetans are hurt beyond our imagination. Having risked their lives to travel through the dangerous himalayan mountains to India, just to be close to HHDL and to practice in freedom. Only to find that HHDL puts a ban on the 350 year old Dharmapala Dorje Shugden practice. This has split families, friends and even ordained sangha.

So many people have prostrated to and takes HHDL as Chenrezig on earth. From what I've read, many believes that just having a glimpse of HHDL will collect much merits and they will travel great distance to make this happen. Some even prostrates all the way from their home to the Potala. Such devotion!
Buddha Dharma is not about Chinese, Tibetan, East, West. There will always be controversies in all aspects of our lives, and yes including the religion we claim to have faith and hope in. I think that's when we can get so disappointed when we have negative experiences due to various situations.

I was raised in Dalai Lama's current town in India. As a kid I was taught to love even my enemy. I was taught not the hate chinese, coz its not the chinese who took our country, its the policy of the government.

Personally, i do not agree with the western society members who protest BUT it is very much in the western culture to protest for whatever they believe in so i respect their right to protest. In a way, they are bringing a lot of attention to Tibet which otherwise would not have happened. I am very much a pacifist and hope that this situation will come to peaceful resolution soon.

The Gaden Tripas are the spiritual leaders of the gelugpa tradition and are selected by Dalai Lama. More High Lamas are sending out a strong message re the Shugden practice. HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche is just the latest to show his support. Amazing.

Everybody should ask a simple question: Since 1959, has ANYTHING Dalai Lama has done actually helped the cause of Tibet? Other than creating violent uprisings (and then denying that he himself had urged these) and neglecting open dialogue with the Chinese (offered to him on numerous occasions but denied), what has he done?

If I'm honest I tend to agree with you. I'd rather he leave the four schools alone and respect other people's religious freedoms. That said I think the Dalai Lama would find it harder to reject democracy if he were returned to power in Tibet than the Chinese are. He's by far the lesser of two evils.

Actually ChinaHainan is right. These long life offerings by the other schools only started being made to a Dalai Lama during the regime of the current DL. It was never done before. A Dalai Lama doesnt even historically have much power or right to make decisions over the Gelugpa tradition. Furthermore, Dalai Lama has openly rejected his root Guru and banned certain religious practices. He also wishes to unify all four schools. Who is to be the head? The DL, of course! This is all documented.

Many great earlier Tibetan scholars, especially those with a precise knowledge of Sanskrit, such as master Jangchub Woe, translator Goe, translator Chak, great Sakya Pandita, the great master Bhutoen, etc., have classified a number of Tibetan Tantras as lacking the authenticity of being original Indian Buddhist Tantras.

The main concern for people who are not interested in politics is not whether or not Shugden is against the cause of Tibet, but rather this practice has been given by their holy teacher and they wanted to practice it. The Dalai Lama may have told the people not to practice DS, but it is ultimately their choice whether or not they continue with their ways. It's not an issue to bring up with the Dalai Lama, but rather with the individuals. The Dalai Lama is a teacher, that does not make his word absolute, and though his advice is worth listening to, it's not the end of the world if people disagree with him.

The Dalai Lama is protecting China with his call for a peaceful revolution to settle this problem because once he has left this world the younger Buddhist's will be prepared to use violence to regain control of Tibet. Does this then gives us the right to criticize this same person whom many up til recently has prostrated and take in their hearts as Chenrezig? Is this what the Dharmapala Dorje Shugden practices teaches? Or can we still hold steadfast without changing our views about HHDL and yet, continue to practice Dorje Shugden?

Many from within Tibetans are hurt beyond our imagination. Having risked their lives to travel through the dangerous himalayan mountains to India, just to be close to HHDL and to practice in freedom. Only to find that HHDL puts a ban on the 350 year old Dharmapala Dorje Shugden practice. This has split families, friends and even ordained sangha.

From what I've read, many believes that just having a glimpse of HHDL will collect much merits and they will travel great distance to make this happen. I was raised in Dalai Lama's current town in India. As a kid I was taught to love even my enemy. I was taught not the hate chinese, coz its not the chinese who took our country, its the policy of the government.
To understand anyone you have to first free my mind from all negative thoughts and then check the facts, to judge that person. There are thousands of languages in this world. None is higher than the another, so what does english has to do with Dalai Lama being a holy person for not?

It's so pathetic. Dalai Lama speaks English even worse than those Japanese executives. If he's such a person of deity, why couldn't he speak decent English after spending so many years in English-speaking countries? It just reminds me how stupid people sometimes can be when treating him as "His Holiness".

However, HHDL has also written praises to Dorje Shugden which is contradictory to his ban. Pls read more at dorjeshugden(dot) com to get a broader & unbiased view on what the main issues are. Personally, i do not agree with the western society members who protest BUT it is very much in the western culture to protest for whatever they believe in so i respect their right to protest. In a way, they are bringing a lot of attention to Tibet which otherwise would not have happened. I am very much a pacifist and hope that this situation will come to peaceful resolution soon.

The communists built roads so they could STEAL Tibet's trees and truck them back to China.

The Gaden Tripas are the spiritual leaders of the gelugpa tradition and are selected by Dalai Lama. More High Lamas are sending out a strong message re the Shugden practice. HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche is just the latest to show his support. Amazing.

Everybody should ask a simple question: Since 1959, has ANYTHING Dalai Lama has done actually helped the cause of Tibet? Other than creating violent uprisings (and then denying that he himself had urged these) and neglecting open dialogue with the Chinese (offered to him on numerous occasions but denied), what has he done?

@Sulmaya And then they should ask what can a Buddhist monk do? How do you stop a totalitarian regime bent on destroying a culture through dialogue? Would talking to the Nazi's have stopped them killing Jews? Did talking to the Soviets close the gulags? Does talking to the Burmese government bring about human rights in Burma? No.
So what can he do? Tibet will only be free when China becomes a liberal democracy and the Chinese tend to shoot people that want that to happen.

But Dalai Lama's regime tends to accuse and threaten anyone who disagrees with him in any public way. Are you saying that the Tibetan government in exile is a democracy? It is a dictatorship like any other. The fact that it is lead by a Buddhist monk should not make it exempt from that fact.
I am not talking about whether the Chinese invasion was right or wrong, but questioning the Dalai Lama's actions and position on the subject, which are highly questionable.

If I'm honest I tend to agree with you. I'd rather he leave the four schools alone and respect other people's religious freedoms. That said I think the Dalai Lama would find it harder to reject democracy if he were returned to power in Tibet than the Chinese are. He's by far the lesser of two evils.

Dalai Lama has been called to Delhi High Court three times so far.
He has been warned by the High Court Judge to stop infringing on Human Rights of Tibetans that practice Dorje Shugden.
Dalai Lama's ban on Dorje Shugden has shocked the Indian Psyche that any leader of his stature can 'ban' any form of worship to any manifestion of the divine.

Most mainstream historians had mentioned about the old Tibet cruel society.
Old photos and documentary films from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC had shown the cruel society of old Tibet. Many Tibetan ex-serf now in Tibet had already given their testimonies. Some of those old prisons by Dalai had made into museum to exhibit the old cruel society.
Evidences had already shown to the world. But to those fanatic supporter of Dalai, they prefer to turn a blind eye to all these and call all these "moron".

So far I have seen no evidence of serfs in Tibet before 1950. The death penalty was abolished in 1913 in Tibet and punishments were seen as soft after that. Check out

Particularly, the tibetans (99:9 percent of them) know it too well what the Dalai Lama means to them. 99.9% of Tibetan know what Dalai mean to them? Please understand that Dalai only belong to Gelug (yellow hat sect) there are other 3 sects in Tibetan Buddhism which are Kagyu, Sakya and Nyingma. All these 3 sects don't worship Dalai at all. Also beside Tibetan Buddhist, there are Muslim and also Tibetan who are Catholic Christian. Where is your 99.9% from? Do you think Dalai can also lead all these Tibetan who are irrelevant to him?

Where did you get the idea that if a Tibetan buddhist belongs to a sect other than Gelug then His Holiness the Dalai Dalai is irrelevant? Just to give you a hint; Long-live offerings were made to the Dalai Lama by all the sect of Tibetan Buddhism, including Bon religion. So, your 'divide' fantasy is what is irrelevant here, if you can put some substance into your head.

And please don't deny the development in Tibet. Destruction of Tibetan? Recently there is a Tibetan lady artist Dezhen from Tibet who has an exhibition in Italy. She was graduated from the Tibet University Art Deparment. She said previously girls are forbidden to involve in arts, but now many girls in Tibet are learning it. And there are also many Tibetan who are well educated and doing well in China. There are even famous Tibetan pop singer, actor & actress. Destruction of Tibetan? Is that so?

I am not denying your 'development'. All I am pointing out is Chinese desrruction of Tibetan culture and tradition. I am not rejecting improvement either, and it is natural. The entire world is improving, so should the Tibetans and Tibet, and they are perfectly capable of improving their life and society without the Chinese intervention and occupation.

Yeah, but the only obstacle left now is the repressive policy adopted by the Chinese government, which we saw being implemented when tibetans inside Tibet and in hundreds and thousands voice their concerns. Unfortunately, they were met with guns and bullets not even with a slight sense of humanity and dignity. That's the tragedy, and in this Tibetan tragedy, and the Dalai Lama is undboutedly speaking for his people...peace

Actually ChinaHainan is right. These long life offerings by the other schools only started being made to a Dalai Lama during the regime of the current DL. It was never done before. A Dalai Lama doesnt even historically have much power or right to make decisions over the Gelugpa tradition. Furthermore, Dalai Lama has openly rejected his root Guru and banned certain religious practices. He also wishes to unify all four schools. Who is to be the head? The DL, of course! This is all documented.

Though i am a Christian (Catholic), but i am totally not against Buddhism and i respect Buddhism a lot... but definitely i don't think my fellow Tibetan Catholic in Tibet want Dalai to be back to lead them... we have our God, Jesus. Same goes to those Muslim and other sects of Tibetan. Understand the dark histories of old Tibet and understand the feeling of those ex-serfs who suffered under Dalai before. Don't depend on the bias 1-sided news.

200 death of Tibetan in 2008 riot given by Dalai is a total nonsense where there are no evidence at all. When account given by tourists who present there is that most of the soldiers there were actually present there without any ammunition weapon, because they are order not to fire back at the rioter. There were NO serfs, slaves or indentured farmers in Tibet in 1948. The illegal invasion of the independent country of Tibet began in 1949 and is still continuing with immigration in 2009.
Thousands of Chinese have been TORTURED to DEATH since 1999 in China.
