There were 7 security camera's positioned to see the plane hit the pentagon. 5 on site and 1 from a nearby fuels station and another at a Motel driveway. My Brother worked at the Fuel station.

Shame they lost them all.

There are about 400 external security Cameras at the pentagon but only 5 had a clear view of the crash site. ( excluding the gate camera which was used for media releases ) It is one of the most surveyed sites in the USA.

If you're flying an aeroplane that's on a collision course with something, that something *will not move* in relation to the background.

Aeroplanes also move pretty quickly -- a Piper Saratoga cruises at about 180mph. or three miles per minute.

A helicopter three miles away, is really tiny. About as big as a bug on the windscreen.

A helo that's half a mile away is still tiny. A Piper Saratoga at cruising speed will take 10 seconds to go half a mile.

And suddenly, it's too late.

I am a pilot, aerobatic too. There is no excuse. It is a tragedy, of course, but that does not change the fact that there is a personal responsibility when one flies an airplane. Many pilots have become too complacent and let their guard down. Blind spot or not, that helo, quite certainly, was visible from farther away. That is a case of distraction.
