  • "Beat it, Flash. Take a walk". It's Michael Motherfucking Mann!!!! I always say that his best movie is Heat. BUT, the best Michael Mann movie is Thief. It's got all the stuff that you need for his movies--cool dialogue for one. Is there any difference between that line when he flashes the gun and when Dillinger smacks the guy at the coat room and says, "Hit the road, Sport". It's the SAME!!!!! All the themes he loves are explored in this movie. It's perfection.

  • @wayodd how about buying the dvd? is worth every cent!

  • What is the name of that Bar, I know they did some filming at the Green Mill, but that looks more like someplace on Halsted. Oh the Katz and Jammer, duh

  • Great scene. Some really good cop/crime films came out around 1979-1981 or so: Thief, Sharky's Machine, 48 Hrs... there are more but I can't think of them right now. Slightly different feel from we we think of as 70s cop films, but not really "80s" yet, either.

After that, they fell into the 'buddy' film with lots of explosions, and ruined cop movies (48 Hrs helped to start it, but it was above average). Lethal Weapon was really the final death blow to good 70s cop movies.

  • I love Sharky's Machine...you hit it right on

  • Me too. I just picked up the soundtrack on vinyl for one dollar. I found the Thief LP a few months ago for a dollar, too.

Oh, and Nighthawks was another good cop film from that era.

  • oh man Nighthawks..with Sly Stallone right?...i'm gonna rent that one(better yet buy it) thanks much

  • @mubirshu these are my top movies also thief, nighthawks and robocop

    great work...

  • Speaking of Sharky's Machine... did you know that a remake is planned for 2010? Mark Wahlberg is attached.

Oh, and another flick from that era I remembered is Fort Apache the Bronx.

  • @mubirshu William Petersen of CSI fame and ManHunter is the bouncer

  • this song rocks!!

  • Good ol Armanetti liquors...not to mention the bar where this was filmed, The Katz & Jammer on the north side.

  • Thanks much for info, Tommy could not remember what the name was, i'll post....

  • I think the Katz & Jammer was off Lincoln avenue near Lawrence & Broadway, right where the Greenmill cocktail lounge is

  • Great song!

  • Backoff flash!!!

  • What is the name of the song in this clip? Thanks.

  • Turning Point

  • Thanks so much. Really appreciate it.

  • Oh,wow,so that's what William Petersen looked like before he became a silver fox.

  • Did you see William Petersen get schooled

  • The Bartender with the towel that James Caan Pushed Right, yeh I thought that was him, he looks like a kid! thats cool you noticed that, I would have never If I did'nt post this clip. Thx for watchin...

  • Petersen's film debut... Mann later would direct him in Manhunter (the prequel to Silence of the Lambs)

  • Brycejaney isnt that Willie Dixon with him?

  • T-Bone!!!
