Why abandoned ? How many owner change hand. Each owner change, it increase the cost of staying. Finially, cost too much to stay. This is very common on apartment too.

in the first room visited, the hotel leaks from the roof, made heavily moldy walls. thanks for the vid. I used to poke around many abandoned buildings in Los Angeles, Ca in the 80's, lots of fun, now all long gone due to earthquake hazards of unreinforced masonry.

Actually, in November, some drug addicts who had made a home in there left a cigarette burning and the building had a huge fire. They've pretty much gutted the place, and I think they're going to be turning it into condos or something. It's kind of sad to think I can never go back and see the place...

Cool! Why do people leave these places abandoned? Seems like it could be fixed up and utilized for something...

I think it was because it would have cost a lot to bring it up to code - the electrical and plumbing were very old, and there was asbestos and lead paint. Unfortunately, there was a fire in it last month when some people broke in and left a lit cigarette, so now even more repair work needs to be done. However, there's tens of thousands of dollars in clawfoot bathtubs up there, which has excited the building manager, so maybe something will get done.

No, it's locked, but I work in a store underneath it so I have access to the keys.

you guys have no idea how lucky you are that there was light. and most of the windows that are there are not boarded up the hotel i went to  is all boarded up and has absolutely no light at all
