I believe our safety is a illusion and could all be lost in an instant... the Bible says that only the angels are holding back the winds of strife, so that all who can be saved will be saved. I'd rather put my loyalty to God rather than our country or troops.

(this is a continuation of the last paragraph) we will know the answer to why He allowed some of these terrible things to happen and why other times he chose to intervene.

In the mean time, I just believe that trusting God and following Him gives me joy and I see it for the others that have made the same choice. If we could all just serve those around us in ways like Gary and Bob do in Guyana, we would have a different world.

How about the rest of the people in the world that need God? Why do our soldiers need Him any more than others? What about all the innocent people that are killed in the crossfire by our soldiers and militants they are fighting?

I don't know the answer to why innocent people die... why the tsunami happened, or why Katrina, etc... but what I believe about the nature of evil, God giving us freedom of choice(for example, to choose to seek Him or not to) makes me want to believe that some day

Hey, I appreciate your comment... no thumbs down here... but I guess my question for you is what is something better worth living for? The answer to that question probably has a lot to do with your view of God, but I know Bob and Gary (the pilots) personally and I can tell you that they have a personal relationship with God. If God was just an 'idea', then I'd agree with you, but they have been touched in a personal way by God and they believe strongly that God wants them to give back to others.

these people don't need to turn to the religion. The bible is a book made to give hope to those that have none, to give good morals to people. That is not saying that people who don't have religion, don't have morals. The bible is only like an instructional book that tells you a way to live a happy life. One thing God did is give us free will. That means you don't HAVE to follow his word, but you have the opportunity to. Thats how I look at it.

Every general aviation pilot flies piston airplanes. We are not allowed to work on our aircraft, that's only allowed for mechanics to do. And if you aren't going to fly multiengine airplanes you do not need that license.

Because it's a Christian organization and the ultimate goal is to help people (like you) see that Christ is the only way- I'm not saying that in a condemning way- it's not that we're forcing people to become Christians we're just showing them our point of view. :-)... OF course there are Christians that go the 'forceful route' which isn't right though.

No, I believe you must have your commercial license and many hours of training in with another missionary pilot and lots of evaluation...

I'm sure you can train under a mission pilot if they took you under their wing. But I think before you could really fly on your own most places require you to have a commercial rating and lots of hours.
