  • That one dislike was probably an accident...Like his parents didn't plan his conception. haha jk.

  • Brilliant!!

  • 3:46 I love how Geddy triggers that vocal sample then sings the rest of the song, they are just unreal

  • I photographed Rush in 74 and 77. To see the shots go to ianmarkmusicphotos (.com)

  • Cannot wait to see them in June. Its gonna be the best concert I will ever go to.

  • Whats cool is a lot of their inspiration, ala style, came from hearing King Crimson but Rush continued on to a new level

  • gonna see these guys in june yeah!!!

  • can anyone guess what my new favorite song is?

  • think about it, Alex creates a slightly different solo for this song every night they play it live, and some are quite creative. I love this song, love these guys, how can you not like em?. Can't wait to see them once again INSIDE THE BALTIMORE ARENA (the now first mariner arena) coming up in April!!

  • did you hear that solo? This is a very difficult song to do live, the cheering at the end is kind of obvious...

  • Gedee Lee, a fellow Lansman.... You do us Hebes proud!!!!!

  • Anyone else just amazed that nobody disliked this video? Thats awesome! Nobody should Dislike ANYTHING. and I mean ANYTHING by Rush.

  • Did anybody else notice Geddy messing up at 4:30 ?

  • @skaf1950 So Geddy Lee is only human, kewl. Their music still blows me away.

  • Best song to open a concert with ever!!!

  • remember mister alex, your solo, tips of little quips of self, like nonself pronouncement

  • Anytime Peart's pen touch paper, amazing lyrics were born.

  • No dislikes. A great song that even Biebers' fans can deny.

  • World´s best band!!!!!! love u..... from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil!!!!!!!

  • What synth instrument are they using? I'm trying to recreate that, but I can't find the right synth instrument.

  • Or something comparable, at least.

  • @Umagula

Probably because Rush got all their instruments personally from some extraterrestrial life form with a deeper understanding of music than humanity.

  • @chitoryu12 well deep duh kemosabi we art jung. crack the sky oh mighty trimveritas cymbalic epic crack the skyy it sea, it urged, hell upon the curb, keel upon the heel... my gawd what a restless d minor

  • @Umagula You might try looking up geddy on wikipedia. was reading there the other day and it listed a lot of the stuff he has used over the years. you might find what you are looking for there. Hope that helps

  • @nailers99 snortlaughingly immortal

  • I always wished Alex would have toned down his reverb in his solos.

  • @80sMetallion

No way man, it's like his signature now. Covering you in sound, it's awesome.

  • @80sMetallion

It's delay--not verb. In my opinion Alex is among the finest textural guitar players ever. That delay is part of what makes his sound what it is.

  • @80sMetallion Amen brutha!

  • @mgunn77 amen

  • Gitarrensolo ist übermenschlich gut !!!

  • 1974-1982, 1989-2010. best rush. 1984-1987 + a show of hands (89). not great.

not a fan of their synth stuff but roll the bones and test for echo are amazing, as well as counterparts.

  • @ericplayzbass2

You got that right, although I will say I like 1 song from that era you refer to as "not great" But still, it's only one song.

Some of their synth based songs are really good (Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, ones from the early 90's), but they abused the synthesizer (like most bands in the 80's so don't blame them) and the synth in not a good substitute for guitars (except in rare cases)

  • Agree. But all rush = underrated. 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's whatever.

  • FANTASTIC

  • @63cmn so whats your favourate track from moving pictures

  • whats your favourate..RUSH track

  • @superrockian La Villa Straniato or Cygnus x-1. Can't desire which one is best.

  • @Inthescissor The best time was putting Hemispheres, Fairwell to Kings, 2112, Caress of Steel on the turntable putting on the headphones laying on the bed with the eyes closed and picturing everything Neil was writing about in that AWESOME music!! He paints such a great picture in Cygnus X-1,it just feels like you are along on the journey!

  • @Inthescissor la villa strangiato is the best , the hardest and the most creative song they made :)

  • I cannot get enough of RUSH!!!

  • I was at this show and was sooo stoked to hear this opening riff!!! A great show...I can't believe this is on here!!

  • TEXTp gives an interesting result

  • TEXTp gives an interesting result

  • CHROLO....I LUV U!:-)

  • That Geddy Lee -he's the real deal

  • neil peart never gets older. He just get better

  • This may be an old video (back when the quality got worse every time you watch it) but it is still great.

  • I still can't believe this live o_o Neil's drumming and Geddy's voice is spot-on, and Alex just rips through that solo.

  • Saw them in Rotterdam Ahoy ,Holland

It was Great, Awsome , Fantastic and Magnificent !!

    Long live RUSH

  • This song is just so good, i love Alex's guitaring, i love Geddy's voice and i (or course) love Neil's drumming and lyrics!!

    Rush forever!

  • By the way: Detroit rock show audiences are the best.

  • if they were...they would record a dvd there.

  • I was there... albeit a mile away from the stage. Primus opened up and played a 10 minute rendition of Nature Boy. It was the cat's pajamas.

  • god i forgot how much i love this song

  • My first Rush tour.......unforgettable

  • frightening song

  • ohmy god this song is SO good live!!

  • @mushanekoproductions Agreed. I was lucky enough to watch it live in person twice, thus far. If only there was a way to bottle up the experience and power of the performance for future use.

  • I love how Alex Lifeson plays in this song.

  • but then again I guess thats true for most Rush songs

  • Estaba buscando esta canción hace años!!! Ahora puedo morir tranquila.

  • Yes, it's from the same show at Auburn Hills. It was filmed by the venue, not Rush. They also filmed the Presto and Roll the Bones tours there but the RTB show has never leaked. You can see several clips from it though on various documentaries. There is also a proshot full concert from the Presto tour shot at Mountain View, California. Clips from all of these are on youtube.

  • I'm guessing this is from the same concert in Michigan during the Counterparts tour where Neil's drum solo was recorded and released on his "Anatomy" DVD?

  • The best 90's Rush has to offer

  • Who filmed this and why was it never released? What a great version!

  • @Snowdogkh - The Palace Vision people are the ones who "record" these. They have about 6 cameras in the place at various locales. ( We were at this show. 5 rows up on the side, right in front of Geddy) - They broadcast the entire show live (obviously) on the video monitors throughout the arena. (Bars/Eateries and on the jumbotron above the floor.) So Rush must have let them "publish" this one. ;-)

  • What a great great SONG!!!!! There is no one better than RUSH IN MY OPINION. Alex is so creative and emotional in his guitar playing. I just Love the way he plays!!!! Geddy is a SMOOTH Master at Bass and i dont even need to tell you how incredible Neil is.......I get goosebumps hearing this...

  • I watch this at least once a week just to catch that badasss guitar solo.Lifeson is so multifaceted it's amazing.

  • I was there for this, fucking awesome, a great concert, good post.

  • This is better than the version on "different stages" - superb. Rush aren't as good as this anymore (but then who the hell is??) - the five-year layoff didn't help and Geddy's high register is fucked these days.

  • WTF are you smoking? Did you even catch the R30 or Snakes & Arrows tour? How about either DVD? There STILL fucking fantastic...and IMO even better that they have been in A LONG tme. There like a fine wine...

  • I got the Rush DVD "Working Men" for Christmas, and it was the first time I was introduced to this song. The version on that DVD is way better than this, your wine statement is spot on, seeing as how that was about 15 years later.. :)

  • neal is a good !!! XD

  • it's a nice video

  • Christ.Look at Lifeson's Mullet!

  • Alex lifeson...Is awesome

  • 90's rush= underrated!

  • @stallionplaya52: WTF? Roll the Bones is their 2nd best selling album (Moving Pictures being 1st), Double Platinum, and also the biggest audiences, even more than 80s. People don't know sh!t about the bands they like... god.

  • Their '90s material (including Presto as well) is mainly disdained because of the lyrical change and the genre shift. Many fans of Rush during the '70s and '80s stopped listening at this point.

  • You don't seem to know much about Rush as well, I know probably 10x more than you do. And that comment was from over a year ago, I'm more educated now, I guess.

  • @stallionplaya52: there were more people coming to their fanbase than leaving... the bigger audiences and record selling just prove that. People love to call everything underrated because they think they are the only ones wise enough to enjoy some stuff. Yeah, you know a lot more, sure...

  • You don't seem to catch what I'm saying. The Rush fans during the '70s and '80s stopped listening to them.

  • @stallionplaya52 That's incorrect. Fans of 70s Rush stopped listening around Signals. The direction the band was taking was drastically different than that of their prog rock style, so the fans jumped off the bandwagon. It wasn't until the 90s (Counterparts to now) that the fans have rejoined. The electronic style of the 80s has now been abandoned, and Rush has returned to their original rock element.

  • Their '90s material is no where near their original rock element. It's more hard rock/arena rock.

  • @stallionplaya52 Right, but a lot of their original fans returned due to the rock element and guitar coming back into main focus. What they didn't like was the synthesizer-based pop rock they were making in the 80s, so when they realized they have returned to guitar-based rock music, they jumped back on the bandwagon.

  • But Signals and Grace Under Pressure were really only the synthesizer oriented albums. At least what I think. Power Windows was amazing.

  • @stallionplaya52 Well on that we can agree! I love Power Windows. One of my favorites.

  • @stallionplaya52 Well, I have to throw Hold Your Fire in there for synth overload. I like some of the songs from that album, but the "much too prevelant" electronic sounds drive me nuts. Turn up the good, turn down the suck!

  • Mission and Open Secrets are great songs from Hold Your Fire.

  • @stallionplaya52 My favorite is Lock and Key. Writing, vocals, and music excellent, just wish Alex was turned up and the keyboards turned down, if that makes any sense. Great solo..very under-appreciated guitar player.

  • @stallionplaya52 agreed

  • This is such a great boot -leg video!!! I use to have it, let someone "borrow" it and never got it back...... Great version of Analog Kid also.....

  • RUSH is the best band EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thumbs down for you haha.

  • Great audio!

Maybe the best I have found of this song live...

  • i'm just fuking with you canadians. yall get so defensive over the littlest shit.

i fuking love rush. they could've come from some village in russia and they'd still be awesome.

  • Exactly. They could be from Uganda and they'd still be the bomb.

  • who cares were their from I'm from Canada. Yes im proud to share a country with the best band in the world and americans dont but who cares. They kick ass. Thats the main things isn't it ?

  • Canada has a few great bands, and alot of good ones, Why does it matter so much where they come from? Idgaf if Rush was from Pakistan, point is, they rock, so lets just enjoy them okay?

  • so defensive.

  • you cocky canadians! so you have one good band. oooooooooooooooooooo.

  • No. They only have one that you've heard of.

  • Rush, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Guess Who, The Band, Steppenwolf (Born To Be Wild), Nickelback, Sum 41, Simpleplan, Barenaked Ladies. James la Brie (Dream Theater) is Canadian, as is Sebastian Bach, top producers Bob Ezrin and Bob Rock are Canadians. Voivod, Annihilator, Exciter

Frank Sinatra's My Way was written by Paul Anka, a Canadian.

Then there are Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Avril Lavigne, Brian Adams, Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennit, Shania Twain.

  • More Canuck musical artists: The Tea Party, Blue Rodeo.Tragically Hip,Cowboy Junkies, Arcade Fire, 54-40, Triumph. I Mother Earth, Jeff Healey, Lighthouse, Jann Arden, Mathew Good, Mahogany Rush, Max Webster ( Kim Mitchel, Moist, Our Lady Peace, Ronny HAwkins, Theory Of A Deadman, Bruce Cockburn, Tom Cochrane ( Red Rider), Sloan, Wide Mouth Mason . Lots more -

  • Wow,what a profoundly honest statement. It takes a 1%er to get that one.Mind if I borrow it sometime? At least with ignorance there is the potential for growth, and freedom from bias. Rock on dude.

  • was this a dvd witch one is it

  • I was at this show! They were simply amazing as usual!!

  • SUPER RUSH!!!!!!!!

  • Alex looks verrrry old when they flash the orange filter.

  • i love schuchtern big time!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • But I love a very sweet man somewhere in Canada, sorry for you glibsporass ;-)

  • learning that we are only inmortals, for a limited time....NICE.

  • A pretty sweet song!

And Geddy looks kind of like Steve Vai at 1:10 ...

  • brilliant...

  • For the first time in my time on YouTube I will actually say: I was there! Primus opened up... great show!

  • Oh, my thats the compass he was talking about

  • GO CANADA!!!

I hate when nerds think their all funny when they make fun of Canada!!!

Im from Houston Texas and i got respect for Canada.

  • Me too!

  • i know huh lol

    lol are you from Houston?

  • Perhaps.

  • Oh fo sho lol!!!

  • NERD haha

  • I'm from Edmonton and I laugh at America! But wait you don't have anything that is half as good as Rush. Oh well.

  • No They have diabetes :D

  • metallica? probably the most overrated band on the face of the earth.

  • right... right...? and by the way, nice picture, jackass. you look like one of those pissed of 12 year olds who'd masturbate to snowboarding videos. go die in a fire.
