My career plan is to join the RAF as a pilot or my second path is to join the RAF Regement to then hopefully one day be given the oppertunity to become a Sniper. And i must say, ''Best of the Best'' is the best way to desribe them, shooting accurately from a moving aircraft... that must take some serious skill.
People need to have some fucking respect for these lads, sort your heads out and go back to your job at tesco. quick question to any lads in the regiment, do most regiment gunners go to iraq or afghanistan, i never expected them to be there so much, strangely
@jadlad Yes, every sqn has its tour of duty independently, think of it like a rotor, so if IIsqn are in afgan, 1 sqn will be back at honnington, they can expect to go to the same place every year but recently the number of tours in afgan has increased for obv reasons. if ur not out their u can expect to be in the falklands, northen ireland etc.
someone dangled a nice big line for you to bite on 'royal'?? take it the two tours were that action packed that your on here talkin billy big bollox with braggin rights to the kids? Any Raf Regt bloke couldnt give a toss about all the jip its part n parcel we do our job you do yours. your way off the mark though. endex. and to all the wannabes on here its simple - join up and find out rather than coming on here thinking you know it all.(ex Para/Raf Regt)
@skygod1975 When you say 'ex Para/Raf Regt' do you mean like your ex II sqn, or you were both an army para and Raf reg? If thats the case, then i'm thinking about either of those. Deffinetly will choose one of them. I know all about them, but which would you say is better. If you've got experience with both?
scarf94 what are you talking about? raf reg are an elite force. come back when you gain a little militaty knowledge and actually served . then tell us who outperforms who
well i know the raf reg are only for guarding airbases, some of them say that there special forces and they think there special, which there not as the army is much more useful and the craphats are only for guard duties.
lol like i said , yer they guard airbases which is important if they didnt who would thats the reason why they were formed and pep dont say they are seaial forces they just work along side them cus they training is far better than army training my mate is in the army in the royal regiment of fusiliers and he agrees they a great fighting force your just 1 of those mupets who doesnt have a clue im joining the regiment and proud
do they there job, which is guarding, i have no problem about that. its just they think their special and they think their at the same level as the paras and RM but there not there around the same as any ordinary soldier. im not saying thier bad im just saying thier full of themselves, and they always have the top of the range gortex equipment when the army has the old equipment and the army needs the new gear much more than the RAF REG, no offence, they do a good job protecting airbases, only.
yeah the raf looks after its people well much better than the army, but i stand with my earlier statement the raf reg arent elite SF. i was in the ATC for a while and joined the atc because they look after the people well, the army cadets is full of chavs. but yeah
BAhahahahahaaaaa army out performs them, haha now thts funny, basically .... no they dont, the raf regt may not be SF but i wouldnt say the army out performs them because i know ppl hu was in army hu either transfered to raf regt or at least came out of the army to go into the raf regt so FUK YOU xD
bahaha lol idiot, most people who fail to become an officer in the army at sandhurst go and and join the raf reg, raf reg officers have much less training than army officer fact ive seen it before, fucking tool, raf reg are as much elite than an army soldier, military knowledge, they transferred to the raf reg because they couldnt hack the army, lol tard.
what are you talking about, they serve the queen just like you. they similar training some would say better, british army is top notch compared to others.
lol luk ryt theres no point in arguin because wer all british and all armed forces do a good job and the british armed forces are one of the best in world so if we get respect frm other countries we should respect each other so, 1 sorry cause theres no point to this argument and 2 we all are fighting afghans not each other
No mate, i'm not lying, was in phase 2 when i left, just before my 4 year contract started, and i think you will find they have different jobs, i will admit marines is always non stop pushing your self to the limits, which is why it's better to most people, but it's difrent once you get there, i didn't want that, so gona go RAF Reg, You in the Marines?, if your not don't come fucking swearing at me like that, saying im full of shit, never said i was a commando, and if you are, good luck to you!.
simmer down kids/boys/teens they dont choose you young guys go for it. you go for it. sharpshooters first then THE course at honnington. dont try and mythologise the regiment its un healthy. we all know were good we dont need to tell action stories! per ardua
No i dont because i am not a regiment officer but i would advise you to go and speak to your local armed forces careers office (afco) for more information!
you show an interest, then if your a switched on trooper, you maybe asked to attend a Card'e, a kind of mini sniper course to see if you have what it takes on your own sqn, then off you go to do the real one if your good enough.
no, your allowed to wear glasses/contacts. laser eye surgery will be the best bet to be honest, but im not sure if you can have that, but i dont see why not!
i have watched ros kemp, watch warzone thats specifically about the RAF REG! dont worry ive done my fair bit of research as i am off to take the PGAC on 6th july

I didn't know the Brits gave aerial sniper coverage for the Americans.
It boggles my mind thinking about how huge of a communications net this war in Iraq must have between all of the nations involved.
Does anyone know if the Americans and British use the same frequencies for the radios on the ground and in the air?
KineticRic 3 years ago
I would amagine they only use the same freguencies during joint ops lol.
