I agree with your notion that you don't need to post a video to have a jump in subscribers.. But why is cheating O.K on YouTube but not in the US elections?
Because the US elections actually matter. This election came down to 7,000 votes in Virginia for the Democrats to take control of the Senate. Someone easily could've cheated 7,000 votes and changed the course of our country from this point on. Youtube on the other hand, doesn't. If someone cheats themself to the top and you know it, you can just ignore them, or even harass them if you it so pleases you.
I'm not saying it justifies it, it's still wrong, but what happens on youtube isn't as important or have as much effect on the world as the people elected for Congress and our government.
