@tochbomb1 yes you can however unless you wanna play the most demanding games on ultra settings completely smoothly there is really no need to. The i5 runs cooler than the i7 and is actually faster at less demanding tasks and so should not be overclocked in my opinion. I have an m14x with an i5 and 6GB that can cope jus about any game I have tried so far on ultra at 40 fps easy
Does it help with the lifespan problem of an overclocked processor if you change your clock speed according to your needs? Like changing it back and forth depending on whether you play demanding games?
@ReaperStalfo you have to make sure that u save it went choosing overclock enable, if u do . download cpuz to have complete information about your cpu frequency if it still 1.3 ghz then is a defective laptop , change it. if is still in warranty. ;)
@MrMaxComputer It works now, i had it on there before, just didnt notice any faster/smoother gameplay even when all settings are low. Didn't know what defragmentation meant 'till yesterday, so imma go ahead and do that to the games and hard disk. Thanks for the help anyway
im mean really, why would they even bother putting a overclock on the computer if it doesnt work, come on... unless they want it to break and we will have to buy a new one :(
I bought one of these Mx11 1 week ago been overclocked since then just fine this laptop is awsome HDD alrready up to 23gb full of games none had problems yet 90% of them runing highest graphic options its very goood
@CoDSath 11.6 inches i find the screen perfect i like the idea of a portable gaming laptop i jsut experienced something new you can actually put the video card on powersaving and on battery powersaving aswell i was getting 8-9 hours of battery life for just internet browsing thats pretty damn good i left it a full 8:43 minutes unpluged browsing internet only
i go on advanced, but my m11xr2 didn't have enabled cpu overclock option, it hav only disabled and the speed from 132mhz - 164 mhz, i try to choose the top number and restart it. but the cpu still how me 1.2ghz. what should i do?
@troyluna555 , those are bad from factory , u can change it, alienware will take it back and send u a new one. they suppose to run stable on overclock feature , that is the reason that they dint unlock the cpu multiplier and clock speed.
@MrMaxComputer Huh? Technical support told me that they couldn't help me. :(
It worked fine for like 6 mos when I got it and then the motherboard fried. After I got it back from depot service, it BSoD'ed in overclock.. I called and they said they couldn't help me.
@MrMaxComputer alright so if I overclock my alienware m11x, then the built in fans should keep it cool enough and i shouldn't have to worry? and if something does overheat i can swap it out long as it is under warranty correct?
nice intro
