You can be sure that at least the start is in real time due to the time it takes for the columns to advance (the rest is in real time too of course, but I can't prove it). The real trick to speed is using a graphics tablet instead of a mouse.

Indeed, that is the sad truth - I've probably played it on average once a day since it came out on the 22nd of November 2003, although across different characters so I don't have a huge experience stat on any. It is the most consistently entertaining game I have ever played.

I'm a pretty consistent CC^9er with a large smatterings of CC^12's under my belt... and I learned a lot from this vid. That was amazing. I never picked up on the technique of walking a whole line of black or tans to clear them out faster, or realized how useful it can be to keep the lines clean in front of your CC block. Heh, even when you have a simple puzzle like distilling that you stopped playing because you think you have it 'solved'. there's still more to learn.

That's great to hear! If you're at the stage I was at in the above, my next tip would be to avoid moving the whites completely to the left at each stage before right-clicking. If you just leave yourself a couple or rows on the left to play with each time then you get a lot more flexibility and long-term efficiency.

You can tell it isn't fast forwarded by the amount of time it takes for the columns to go up (when I'm not right-clicking them). One major advantage that you can't see, however, is that I'm using a graphics tablet rather than a mouse.
