Zola also played with a better group of players, which in turn made him better. Given that knowledge, I would have to say that those honours are a misrepresentation of the actual skill between the two players. In terms of skill, I think Zola was a better player, but not by as much as people probably think. Both of them are favourites of mine, but I like Di Canio more.

Di Canio's bizarre, often self-indulgent play, was great to watch but Zola, who was just as skilled, was more level-headed, more consistent and showed he could cut it for top teams, which Di Canio couldn't. No disrespect intended to West Ham by the way, for whom Di Canio was probably at his very best.
