Blasting cross handed is only useful for alternate blasting so you can use your leading right hand in the single stokes. Adler uses a hammer blast in this song which is smarter to play open handed. Playing this blast cross handed is dumb because you will get less volume while it's harder to do.

Only one comment on it; the people who usually blast open handed usually listen to bands like....Lamb of God....and lets be honest, they aren't exactly the best metal band out there, they're just very, very mainstream.

So, usually the people who blast open handed are the guys who listen to more mainstream "metal", just an observation I've made which usually seems to be true.

@humbug595 yes I know Lamb of God isnt death metal, just saying that death metal use this technique more, especially since they do most of the blasting, and no i cant for the fact that im not that much into the death metal world or know that many drummers who do blasting but i know 2, George Kollias and Derek Roddy (sorry if i misspelled their names) and you can see it in many of their videos.

@H0022 That's for blasts with snare on beat, a lot of people find on beat blasts easier to do with the right hand doing the snare, but if you learn to blast like that, you're fucked when you want to blast with the snare on beat and off beat on the ride, because you've fucked your learning up.

Its best to practice both ways, but in my experience learning open handed blasts first thing isn't a good move, it really limits you.
