It goes to show how good music really can reach all people, I just wish that more Christian artists stopped all the fake, generic, loose-theology music, and just wrote about how they feel-the good and bad, and to boldly proclaim God like Josh, and a few others do. @ikero1367 you make the point beautifully from the opposite side of things from where i am looking. There is a chasm that Jesus brought. HE said I am the Son of God, you either believe that or not. Josh's whole point is Jesus, he is not entertaining, he is telling the good news that God loves us. The world will never like Jesus.

To say the world doesn't care for things of Jesus and God is not true, I think we all want to believe in something greater than ourselves and find meaning in this world. Even if you don't believe in God/Jesus/Eternal Salvation, you will be moved by the music of Josh Garrels. I want to believe, however I am not there yet (and may never get there) but Josh Garrels' music moves me a little closer to that belief.

This song is just so beautiful! I love how the Lord works. I've had a horrible day.And was so down, then I heard this song and it was just what I needed to hear and lift my spirit. Sometimes I just can't get into the christian music on the radio, as I am recently saved. I am so used to music more..... upbeat..... So this is by far the best christian music i've heard. It's like when he is singing it's just him and the Lord, and it's simply amazing! =D

Pick a style? Umm, why? That's all you kids get these days, right? "Pick a style and ride it to death." Maybe he could start an emo band. That'd be like so hott, OMG. It's terrible people don't recognize creativity even if it bites them in the ass. And a "muffled Louis Armstrong"? Guy, you know everyone resembles someone. That doesn't mean they're ripping them off. To listen to this and conclude he's copying someone else is ludicrous. Name anyone who plays a similar style, dare ya.

Hey, so I'm not sure I agree that all emulation is of the flesh, and I am not sure I was judging anyone, if that part of your msg was in refence to my comment (the comment I was speaking to is now disappeared). I may be misreading your intention. Maybe emulation is always of the flesh, but I am not convinced anyone can be free of it. It depends on what you mean by flesh, I suppose. Flesh as the opposite of the spirit, carnal appetite, would of definition be bad, but if you only mean that

it originates in the human body, than that does not of itself prove evil. We will, after all, never not have a body. We are not only spirits. I guess my point is that judgement is neutral, and it is certainly healthy to judge all, hold fast to the good. The modern context "don't judge" carries is, as expected, merely conventional wisdom, and this, as most conventional wisdoms, is certainly conventional but not in the least wise. An overgeneralisation.

I thought of emulation simply as competition, which is why I didn't think that was necessarily "of the flesh", but looking it up after reading that, if the better definition is "jealous rivalry" it would certainly be.
