This is the one I remember from the nineties!!! I still have it recorded on VHS (but w/out the Eisner intro). I kept watching the other versions on youtube and knew right away they weren't the same one based solely on the theme song.
CHILDREN OF THE 90'S! THIS IS THE ONE YOU'LL REMEMBER!!!
I get the idea that Disney had a soft spot for the macabre. The Skeleton Dance, the queen's lab in Snow White, Sleepy Hollow, the banshee an the stagecoach in Darby O'Gill & the Little People, and on and on.
Back when I was in high school (god, I'm old) we got to play Night on Bald Mountain in concert band, and I had all of the fun parts because I played the orchestra bells. That was a great piece, if you can imagine a bunch of band geeks and our director practically headbanging to it (anyone remember headbanging? Anyone?)
I am twelve going on thirteen, I wasn't even born in that wonderful era of Disney but I love it a whole lot more than what they're airing now. I could care less about stupid pop stars and wannabe wizards. This is the true magic of Disney and I'm proud to say I'm growing up on this instead of what we have now. Thank you for uploading this and thank the other people for uploading other Disney Channel classics from the 80s-90s. <3
Now this is classic Halloween! I remember watching this so many times either before or after trick-or-treating around our neighborhood when I was a kid. It always got me into the "spirit" of the season, and continues to be a staple of my Halloween movie watching experience.
I am 19 years old and I remember watching this every year on Halloween with my older sisters. I was so blessed to watch the same, classic Halloween cartoons that made my day with the fantastic music and little voice. Thank you so much for bringing back part of my childhood. You are truly a hero. <3
@ses2314 That's exactly how I feel! 8o} Shit I'm 27 now,but dammit I'd definitely be watching the Disney channel more if they still showed classic stuff like this lol

59 and 1:30-1:37 scared me to death as a kid. I was afraid of our front rooms for ages because they reminded me of this. (which is weird because I loved these specials)
oh man! They showed this when i was a kid in the 90s but i was too little to remember it, so my dad taped it and now we watch it every halloweeen. It's not quite the same though because the tape is sooo bad, but this is great! thanx a million for posting it!! :D
@DTVzone First off, thanks for posting this! I, like so many othrers, used to love watching this at Halloween along with the other Halloween specials channels like Nickelodeon used to have. Now then, I think I know what 2wingo means. Disney had another Halloween special before this called "A Disney Halloween Treat." It aired in 1982 and featured many of the same segments as this but was hosted by a talking jack o' lanturn. This special first aired in 1983. It can be easy to mix them up.
THIS is the version I saw as a child and not the "Halloween Treat" version. I cherish this and I still have it on VHS of which also has "Halloween is Grinch Night" and "The Girl from the Future."
no this isn't available on dvd and neither is the pumpkin version. you can only get it on vhs for like a couple hundred bucks on amazon. best thing to do is download it and burn it off from ur computer.
@Disneyfan82 i agree with what you said and really you're right i mean halowen is fun, im 19 and still love it , but people that say halloween is for satan worshippers need to grow up, i agree some people do crazy things on that night, but dont punish your kids because of it
I know this won't happen, but I'd love to see a channel, or at least a regular series, maybe weekly, probably late night. "Disney Treasures," or perhaps "Original Disney." It would air their original cartoons and features, all of them, and be preceded with a warning: "The following films are aired in their original forms. No attempt has been made to adapt them to modern sensibilities."
Back in the days (early Fifties) the Disneyland TV show was on Wednesdays and at Halloween, they would show the Night on Bald Mountain segment from Fantasia, and a Donald Duck cartoon where Huey, Dewey and Louis go out treat or treating. They had a song called "Treat or Treat for Halloween." They also had a early cartoon Lonesome Ghosts with Mickey, Donald and Goofy as Ghostbusters.
I really wish Disney would bring this special to DVD and Blu-ray with the cartoons and audio remastered if only just for the old-school fans, because I realize how much technology is leaving behind My way to watch it on a TV, I lack a VCR to play it on My family's wide screen TV since it just has a DVD player but the VCR in My room only shows static with video tapes now and only works with DVDs but not tapes, I realize I won't be able to rely on that recorded VHS forever. I mean *2bcont.*
*Continued* I mean I appreciate what DTVzone is doing by uploading these specials online but nothing compares to watching them on an actual TV in an official legal way. I mean every year at Halloween I wonder why this special still never comes out on DVD or Blu-ray, I'd much rather watch it than the stupid Miley Cyrus, High School Musical, and Jonas Brothers crap, I mean I'm thankful I still have it on recorded VHS but even then I'm still losing the means to watch it.
Disney used to make such simplistic but beautiful cartoons. They had such depth. Nowadays cartoons have a more adult sense of humor but no adult sense of depth or beauty.
@DConS81 This was first aired in 1982, a few years before Eisner had any involvement with the company. Also, Eisner generally made good decisions until around 1995, when various checks and balances to his power over the company eroded. You know the rest of the story.
I used to watch this all the time when I was little! I literally wore out the tape till it snapped! When I was 2 years old I wanted a bat birthday cake (I'm female, btw) because I liked the Night on Bald Mountain sequence so much (I got an early start at being "the weird kid" I guess) and I got it, too! I don't remember much about being 2 but I remember my parents taking me to the cookie stand in the mall and getting me one of those giant party cookies with a big bat frosted on :-)
Disney's Halloween Treat, Raggedy Ann and Andy (pumpkin who couldn't smile) and The halloween Tree were all my favorites as a kid.... It's too bad our younger crowd has to deal with "nothing" or at the very least that Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktakular.
My mom recorded tis forever ago for me and my siblings and I remembered i always insisted on watching it every year! It's tradition, I mean I can't have a halloween without watching this! It brings back the best memories!
I hate it when overprotective parents try to ruin everything these days over little things. No offense to anyone's parents. But some of them need to learn that they can't just hide their children from the world forever. They'll have to let them go someday, but how is not letting them trick or treat on Halloween gonna teach them anything. They'd be missing out on part of their childhood. Anyways, watching these holiday cartoons bring back memories from the time when Disney was once cool.
@Disneyfan82 i have to agree. i was one of those poor kids that didn't go trick or treating..my mom wouldn't let any of us kids cause she said it was the devil's holiday. it sucked
THat is a shame. Sure Halloween along with other pagan holidays might have started off on the wrong foot, but the real issue wouldn't be the holiday itself, it would be what people do with it. Now it is celebrated as a fun event. Halloween can be fun as long as people learn to take proper precautions and don't do things that involve hurting people or animals.
@Disneyfan82 People seem to forget that most of these cartoons are from a different time. Leonard Malton said it best in the Disney Treasures...Disney can either pretend they never made them or present them and just mention that times were different and we are better now.
Best example....I can't believe Song of the South hasn't been released on DVD (or blue ray) yet.
@jwace Indeed, times were different, people weren't bombarded with phantom fears in the media who now get very rich off of it. People just wanted to have fun on Halloween and they did.
ya it sucks that people wont let their children go out and celebrate halloween because of religion or what other nonsense...i mean im a christian and i grew up as a christian but i would never stop my kids from celebrating with the rest of the other kids
God I miss the "Disney's Halloween Treat" song. So fun to listen to.
I taped this back in '91, but I haven't been able to find the tape it's on in the past couple of years, so I'd like to thank you for putting this up so I can still watch this special every year.
Do kids even know their cartoons are preaching PC garbage at them today?
Let them out of your sight to play ghost in the graveyard, and they'll build courage & character the fun way. Kids are so hovered over, trick or treating with the sun out if at all! Sad. Tell your kids that someone wants to hurt them around every corner & you'll only teach them fear. Fear paralyzes the spirit of every child. Fear is not awareness, never has been.
Oh such sweet memories! I saw this when I was about 4 in 1985 or 86. Never missed it again when it came on (before the drivel that is aired on Disney now...)
I miss this so much! As a kid I would always watch this around halloween time :D back in the day when disney was still a decent channel that had good stuff on.
Ugh, I'm like an adult now, but I love this! I hate that my little sister never knew that Disney actually made awesome cartoons. I miss the times when Disney had holiday shows air all month long.
Almost identical to "Disney's Halloween Treat". Bald Mountain comes from the Disney hit "Fantasia", where classical musical is played and viewers can learn to appreciate different variations of genres. The dark-haunted Bald theme came from appreciating classical Rock. Also, loved "The Sword And The Stone". Madame Mim still remains one of Vault Disney's legend villians to this day. She always had a light humor to her sneaky ways.
@DTVzone thank you. I had originally heard that the first Halloween party took place on Bald Mountain. I'm going to google that to see when the actual date was. Sounds interesting!
Woooow I didn't think I'd ever see this again. I remember Coming home from trick or treating and watching this every halloween. I miss those days so much
Thank you so much for posting these...Oh my God does this take me back!!!...I can't wait to show our kids these classics I so fondly remember...Oh how time slips away.......
I taped this off tv back when it was still showing and I try to watch it right around Halloween every year. So nice to see it here on YouTube where it can be shared by others and a younger generation can be shown it.
The Night on Bald Mountain segment from Fantasia here, well as odd as it sounds back when I was little none of it ever scared Me despite the way Chernabog looked and all the ghostly monsters and demons he summond. Though My memory likes toplay tricks on Me because now that I've seen the Fantasia segment I see that he hides from the sunrise but before I saw that My memory rememberd that lightning from the heavens struck him and he fell off behind his mountain or something like that and *2bcont.*
*Continued* and thats how My memory from before remembers the end to the Night on Bald Mountain segment. But like I said My memory played tricks on Me. Anyways I hope Chernabog is a boss in the upcoming Epic Mickey game, though since he isn't completely forgotten I wonder if he isn't not recent enough to be included in Epic Mickey I would have to say the darker version of him in this segment in Fantasia isn't used a whole lot recently these days by Disney for fear it might scare *2bcont.*
*Continued* for fear it might scare children (which I guess is the same reason the Heffalumps aren't portrayed like they were in Blustery day and the more villainous ones in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) and yes I know the darker version of Chernabog appeared in Kingdom Hearts as a boss but the first Kingdom Hearts was released ages ago and yes I know he appeared in House of Mouse but so did Phantom Blot and he's in. And besides I never got to fight Chernabog in Kingdom Hearts *2bcont.*
*Continued* besides I never got to fight Chernabog in Kingdom Hearts anyway, and even if I did I still want him to appear in Epic Mickey, and besides I bet a whole lot of you would like him to appear in Epic Mickey too. I mean I can't be the only one can I?
this used to be somewhat of a Halloween tradition for maybe 5 years as a child was to watch this when it aired on Disney Channel...i'm sure other 80's born kids can relate
@mariseladullum I'm with you this should be shown like the Grinch and charlie brown for christmas. EVERY HALLOWEEN. I mean they show Halloween Town every year on Disney, and Hocus Pocus
this was a halloween treat. i sure missed this. THEY WILL NEVER BRING THIS TO A LIGHT OF DAY, not the way disney is now. so water down like nickeldeon and cartoon network is.
Anyway, thank you so much for uploading this. I haven't seen this in so many years
I remember watching this when i was really little. My dad taped it, but it got lost for years. It also had on it Casper's halloween special, Flinstones' halloween special (i don't remember what the name of it was), & Halloween is Grinch night.
I love a Disney halloween. it was always my favorite disney holiday special, also i loved the theme to a Disney halloween.
Where can I find a high quality version of "A Disney Halloween" or, Disney's Greatest Villians? -The torrent for this version at 666mb isn't that good, but your download here was a better video source except the file size was small, and the magic mirror scenes didn't convert that well to a 4:3 aspect ratio.
i love this! i have it on vhs but i cant find it atm. but i used to watch it all the time, even have a shirt that has the skeleton dance on it. <3 <3 <3
"A Disney Halloween was a 90-minute Halloween-themed television special that included portions from both Disney's Halloween Treat (1982) and Disney's Greatest Villains (1977) featuring classic short cartoons and excerpts of various villains from Disney feature films. It was hosted by an offscreen narrator and the Magic Mirror from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
wow, 'A night on bald mountain' what a work of art. I think I still have this on tape somewhere. Thanks so much for posting. This brings back wonderful memories. :D

Now it is celebrated as a fun event. Halloween can be fun as long as people learn to take proper precautions and don't do things that involve hurting people or animals.
Disneyfan82 1 year ago 2
@Disneyfan82 In fact the festival Samhain - The Festival of the Dead is still celebrated in the wiccan tradition.
Gideon235 11 months ago
@Disneyfan82 People seem to forget that most of these cartoons are from a different time. Leonard Malton said it best in the Disney Treasures...Disney can either pretend they never made them or present them and just mention that times were different and we are better now.
Best example....I can't believe Song of the South hasn't been released on DVD (or blue ray) yet.
jwace 3 months ago
@jwace Indeed, times were different, people weren't bombarded with phantom fears in the media who now get very rich off of it. People just wanted to have fun on Halloween and they did.
cheapcape 3 months ago
ya it sucks that people wont let their children go out and celebrate halloween because of religion or what other nonsense...i mean im a christian and i grew up as a christian but i would never stop my kids from celebrating with the rest of the other kids

God I miss the "Disney's Halloween Treat" song. So fun to listen to.
I taped this back in '91, but I haven't been able to find the tape it's on in the past couple of years, so I'd like to thank you for putting this up so I can still watch this special every year.

I love this! The old cartoons are awesome!

She always had a light humor to her sneaky ways.
bluffgrad07 1 year ago 2
@DTVzone thank you. I had originally heard that the first Halloween party took place on Bald Mountain. I'm going to google that to see when the actual date was. Sounds interesting!

Thenumber1yoshi 1 year ago
*Continued* and thats how My memory from before remembers the end to the Night on Bald Mountain segment. But like I said My memory played tricks on Me. Anyways I hope Chernabog is a boss in the upcoming Epic Mickey game, though since he isn't completely forgotten I wonder if he isn't not recent enough to be included in Epic Mickey I would have to say the darker version of him in this segment in Fantasia isn't used a whole lot recently these days by Disney for fear it might scare *2bcont.*
Thenumber1yoshi 1 year ago
*Continued* for fear it might scare children (which I guess is the same reason the Heffalumps aren't portrayed like they were in Blustery day and the more villainous ones in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) and yes I know the darker version of Chernabog appeared in Kingdom Hearts as a boss but the first Kingdom Hearts was released ages ago and yes I know he appeared in House of Mouse but so did Phantom Blot and he's in. And besides I never got to fight Chernabog in Kingdom Hearts *2bcont.*
Thenumber1yoshi 1 year ago
*Continued* besides I never got to fight Chernabog in Kingdom Hearts anyway, and even if I did I still want him to appear in Epic Mickey, and besides I bet a whole lot of you would like him to appear in Epic Mickey too. I mean I can't be the only one can I?
Thenumber1yoshi 1 year ago
this used to be somewhat of a Halloween tradition for maybe 5 years as a child was to watch this when it aired on Disney Channel...i'm sure other 80's born kids can relate

I need your help again DTVzone.
