  • it's KABHI KABHI not KHABI KHABI

  • Nelly Furtado's Version is a lot better...

  • @amoralis123 Where did you get all that from? Urdu comes from Persian. Written urdu has almost same alphabet as Arabic. Hindi is nowhere like Urdu. Original hindi is totally different.

  • @MissCurious007 you clueless fool. Hindi and Urdu both developed out of the same common tongue of Hindustani which was a mix of Farsi/Pashto and numerous north Indian languages. Hindi and Urdu was actually the product of codifying and refining this common and varied bahasa. Hindi drew more on indiginous language and Urdu on its foreign Persian roots. Yet apart from different script a person from each language can understand each other. So to claim they are unlike is total ignorant fallacy.

  • this is the best old love song one of my favorites

  • @onlystar786 A movie by the same name (Kabhi Kabhie) according to Wiki !!!!

  • bhaiyaa bhabhi ki story...

  • nice song...................................

  • everything is relative and we all are too, we won't know it until we pass to divinity.....

Thank you Lata Mangeshkar for your voice, it's so beautiful! you are the Queen songbird Universely... your voice makes me quiver, wake up and love all at the same time.. all hands down to the Queen Lataji....

  • ME JANTA HUN KE TO GAER HA LEKIN KABHI KABHI MERE DiL ME KHYAL AATA HA :)

  • nice song i will try

  • BEAUTIUL SONG, LOVELY BUT SAD TOO

  • I dont understand a word and yet this is beautiful to me.... like haunting

  • CarerKhan...your comments made me laugh... that is funny but sad....it happens often does it not - when marriages are arranged by families....but as experience shows...love marriages don't have a survival rate of arranged so - think LongTerm buddy.

  • arranged marriages survive because they are just that! "arranged" it's a family affair!

  • hmmm....well that is most interesting....my best friend from my childhood days whom loves me is married....though he loves me a lot is tied to his commitment and his current wife and family. I often wonder how can one go on but it is so cool to know that commitment and honor of the family is so highly regarded that a beloved can sacrifice his or her own self for the unity of the family. This is rare and special

  • In my opinion, arranged marriages are done for convenience. It takes a lot of guts to stand up for what you love. It is more "convenient" (in more ways than one) to choose an arranged marriage. Loved ones don't require each other to "sacrifice" oneself. Your friend hasn't sacrified anything. You're better off as you don't want to be married with someone who lacks a back bone. There's nothing "rare and special" about arranged marriages. Genuine love marriages are rare n special.

  • @pmaknoni Yes, you are right, love marriages don't have the same survival rate as arranged marriages but that's because, like I have mentione before, it is a family affair, not the the couples' decision. I would also think about twice about getting a divorced if my family disowned me and if my own people treated me as an "untouchable." Think that!

  • Beautiful song,shot in a v.tasteful and sensual way.

  • The same thing happened to my life on 17 November, 1989 Night---- the very night of my FIRST Marriage Day with my first wife Nazma Akhter. That Night I was thinking about my first love Ferdous Akhter like the wife in this song! My feeings to Sumayya Monirul break the mosques break the mandirs , break every thing you can, But dont break a heart because ALLAH lives in hearts( Sufi Poet Mian Muhammad Buksh).

  • Monirul,

I can feel your pain...they say time heals heart's pain. But some feelings, experiences, unstated thoughts, and suppressed love...just strengthen with time...and revisit our hearts and minds years, even decades later....life moves on, we may have kids, and they may have kids of their own...but the sweet fragrance of those thoughts escape every so often from the deep vaults of our hearts...flowing mellifluously into our very soul...transporting us back to our long lost beloved.

  • @exoticbronze that was the best thing ive read in a while..its jus so true...Im sad jus reading it..

  • u r the true devote of God.U may one day find him." Tiratha kaun kare mana mehi ganga mana mehi yumuna mana mehi dhera dhare".Love is all a true sufi can said this. thanks.

  • TQ friendlyuser01 for hving sent me the translation of this song in English. Of course the original MUST hve been more poetic in its original language. At least now, when I listen to this romantic song, I will understand it better coz luv is a universal language. Taj

  • Hey guys, I am neither a Pakisatni nor an Indian, neither an Arab nor a Persian. Can someone plz translate this beautiful song so English speaking people can comprehend the emotional undertone? Songs are universal. Stop being parochial.

  • He: Sometimes in heart there comes a thinking that have been made (only) for me.

She: repeats it (first all) than only ...made for me.. have you lived till now on a star (reats it two times)

you have been asked to come on the earth (only) for me futher she sing methaphorical by comparing the music on a wedding with her feeling

He: I know you are someone strage but sometimes a thinking comes into my heart...

  • why the hell ru talkin about arabs, persians and pakistanis yu fool ... this is 100% hindi (INDIAN) song and we are proud of it...!

  • Sometimes the thought crosses my mind / That you were made for me. Before this you lived among the stars You were called to earth for me. Sometimes the thought crosses my mind That your body, your eyes are in trust for me. The dense shade of your hair is for me alone, These lips, these arms are in my trust. Sometimes the thought crosses my mind

  • As if wedding music plays on the road. It is our wedding night and I'm lifting your veil... You're melting in my arms, blushing with shyness... Sometimes the thought crosses my mind. That you'll love me forever. You'll always look at me with love in your eyes... I know you now belong to another, but still Sometimes the thought crosses my mind...

  • Man imagine, the very first night of your wedding, you come sit next to your wife and she starts singing "Kabhi Kabhi merey dil mein khayal ata hey".

    What the heck?

  • beautiful song, one of my fav...very touching

  • beautyful Urdu song, what remains in lata ji and mukesh ji without URDU?

  • @konpal urdu is only written words but singing needs voice that can make any laguage or word beautyfull .

  • wat an unfortunate husband n wife.one is being cheated.other is suffering.bad luck.

  • i cant believe that in 2009 we are still arguing about hindi vs urdu or pakistani vs indian. get a life. we r all human beings and no one is better than the other by race but their charachter. so always look in the mirror to see what needs improvement

  • hello there do you know where i can get this movie khabi khabi the full movies with english sub pls

  • @tigeronpar i agree with you we are human first

  • indians are better ..lol

  • @tigeronpar right there bro..................

  • beautiful song, guys i look forward to comments that other people also appreciate the song, but it is very disappointing to see people arguing about language.the beauty about india is that hindi is much indian as urdu or sanskrit. just appreciate the song for once.

  • it is mostly hindi, mixed with urdu words...love this song! makes me cry

  • yeah, yeah, it's absolutely urdu, so don't get jealous....hindi is what the pmspke on 15 august, where you couldnt understand crap...fyi, taare zameen par and ghajini are urdu films...dont believe me?! ask aamir khan...

  • ho ho ho dude, I am an Indian...so this song is urdu and it's Indian man, not pakistani...sahir saab was born in India...nevertheless, the more important thing here is that it's in URDU, and so is bollywood....not hindi......

  • mfo you pakis are born out of India. India tumhara bap hai. Urdu was born in india not pakistan.

  • simply superb!! love it!

  • i love this song lyk crazii i listion 2 it while im in d bath jussiieee x

  • this is a real story...it is expressed so well here... depth of emotion and what commitment gives and takes... va

  • evergreen song ...love it

  • is it urdu? i thought thats hindi because im learning hindi and they refer to this and use words from the song.

  • hmm there is not a single word from sanskrit , so it is urdu because you could spot words that are derivate from arabic & persian.

for example amanat is derived from arabic word. khayal is persian etc...

  • True even the grammer and how you construct the sentance is from Persian and Arabic. I have met so many arabs and persian who understand Urdu quite well because it has so many words from there language. Have you ever seen a Hindi speaker who can understand proper Urdu? naah....

  • @lawowalker it is Urdu. Hindi is vastly different, urdu consists of persian and arabic. Hindi is a combination of sauraseni prakrit, braj, awadhi, and finally khari boli which have all evolved to include some arabic words after the mughals. Urdu was seen as the language of knowledge during the mughal period and of poetry, so mostly in bollywood songs, they are highly influenced by Urdu, most songs r in urdu, but obviously not all. Although this song is definitely urdu.

  • @maryasha Original is a ghazal from Fraaz. Original name of Urdu is Reekhta. Urdu is a Turkish word for Army. It was a spoken language of the Army of Mughals. It has the sweetness of Persian, Philosophy of the Vedas, flow of Hindi and the ability to swallow words and expressions of other languages lock, stock and barrel. The other language that this ability is English. Both are unique in having present continuous tense. It is a pity that India shunned it. It is a very rich language.

  • what a song. love it. love you too S........ .

  • THATS CALLED BEAUTYYYYYYY

  • First of all it is a lovely song.

Second, it is offensive to use the term gay to denote something that you do not like.

  • THat does not make sense...

  • loved this ever since i saw the movie many years ago!! excellent!!

  • thats right, mostly indian singers have to know urdu language and learn how to pronounce it.. coz many indian songs r written in urdu..sorry not offensive but truth...

  • and according to you Urdu isnt indian? It wasnt born in Lahore or Peshawar you know.

  • hey ppl why r u arguing on language no matter da song is sung in which language..the song is beautiful and we should care abt song nt da language all of us cn understand the meaning so chill guys listen to the music

  • Hey guys, what ever may the language, Hindi is one of the most beautiful language in the world!! I'm not an indian but I love this language from any other. :-)

  • Its actually in Urdu, similar to Hindi but some fundemental difference. Dont get me wrong, Hindi is a beautiful language in its own right, but this song was sung in Urdu.

  • ...well said

  • What's the difference between Hindi and Urdu?

I can understand people who are say they speak the two languages, so I don't understand how they are different

  • I never said they are different to the point where you cant understand one language over the other. You can understand them because they've been used prevalently throughout Indian history. I can read and write Urdu and Hindi, and aside from the text, Urdu encompasses some Persian and Turkish influences while the structure of Hindi is influenced by Sanskrit.

  • At the basic level Urdu and Hindi are similar, but at intermediate and advanced levels they are completely different. The adjectives and nouns are completely different. Hindi words come from Sanskrit and Urdu comes from Arabic and Persian. Indians tend to mix the 2 languages into one and many I speak to can't tell the difference. Some even say Punjabi is the same as Hindi, but it's not. Punjabi is a completely different language.

  • wow..I dont speak any of these languages but often heard people say that Urdu and Hindi are similar but never thought to what extend? Thks for the brief explanation.

  • Urdu developed in India in the 15th century,Urdu means Army encampment, which was in the red fort in Delhi,Turks,Persian,Arabs and Indians, mixed the languages, and Urdu developed. Hindi is Based on Sanscript, Hindustani is a mixture of Hindi and Urdu.Real Hindi does not use Urdu words,Bollywood always mixes it up,that why people think they are the same,Apart from Arabic, all the others are Indo Aryan Languages, including Punjabi, and in many aspects they are similar.

  • Well Urdu originated from hindi, persian and arabic. It was originated in India so ofcourse it is similar to hindi. Spoken urdu is almost as close to spoken hindi and now spoken hindi in India is not pure hindi anyways. Written script of hindi and urdu are completely different. And urdu also has some words from hindi so its not all taken from arabic. U can search for origination of urdu.

generaly if u understand hindi u can also understand punjabi and urdu but yes pind ki punjabi is difficult.

  • Comment removed

  • lol as soon as u said hindustani is spoken all over in india except tamil I knew u know nothing. There is nothing like hindustani, india is bharat and no longer hindustan if u know. If u read my comment properly I said spoken hindi now is a mix of hindi and urdu and also english. Hindi is just spoken by 47% of population in india. I had also mentioned if u know hindi u can understand a tad of punjabi but not the pind punjabi. please visit ur sites for origination or urdu.

  • Comment removed

  • Well there is no language as hindustani and no if you even go to east people dunn speak hindi. Hindi/Urdu is spoken in only rajasthan, Delhi, harayana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya pradesh, Bihar, Utaranchal, Jharkhand, Punjab and I dunn know if I am missing some state. No other language is mixed but my point is a lot of languages came from sanskrit and when u know any of them its easier to understand the other ones like marathi, gujrati, urdu, punjabi, bhojpuri etc. That doesnt mean they r same

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah I am indian but currently in US. Well hindi is my mothertongue and I adore urdu as I read and listen quite a few shayaris so I guess its good.

  • @ranmenike i totally agree... Hindi is very nice to listen to .... altho i'm a south indian, i did not learn this beautiful language... i will just settle with listening to hindi songs and people talking this language...

  • where can u find this song to download ?? Any advuce would be appreciated highly.

    Good video, Thanks

  • For bachlinda, Sanskrit has not came at all from south India. Sanskrit came from somewhere far north by path of evolution when Aryans invaded India. All south Indian languages originated from Dravid, and later blended with Sanskrit.

Whereas, Hindi defintely came from Sanskrit in evolutionary as like the other north indian languages. And later blended with Arabic, Parshi and many other languages to give rise to poetic Urdu.

  • like this song because of a certain someone...

  • world most sweet and expressive langauge URDU.

    URDU itself love,romance,poetry,lyric,music,melody.

another name of URDU is also TAJMAHAL.

  • I guess from your comments, you are from Pakistan. Hindi was the original language for the commoners to communicate. When the muslim invaders invades India it was very difficult for them to communicate so they simplify Aribic to to urdu and both languages blended. If you noticed that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages and that came from South India.

  • Urdue is not the simple combination of Sanskirit and Arabic, it contains also a handsome vacabulary and grammer of Persian, turkish and definitely Arabic. This song is in Urdu and I thnik most of bollywood songs are written and sung in Urdu ccent and contain a very few words of Hindi, partuculary. And you will rarely find any song in pure Hindi accent.

  • i agree for example in hindi flower is pronounced fool but in songs the word phool is used n phool is in urdu another in hindi site is najar in urdu is nazar another word like then in hindi its fhir and in urdu phir s yea most songs r actually r sung in urdu most indian sngers have to study urdu. all songs javed akter writes r in urdu. Urdu is more of an romantic and professional language. Hindi is a bit slang

  • Najar and fool are only pronounciation of words that originally come from Persian. Phool and Nazar are Persian words, not Hindi. Hindi is a beautiful language in its own right, but modern day Hindi borrowed alot from Urdu. In fact, Bollywood itself was dominated by Urdu dialogues up until the 1980s

  • just because you used few words from another language doesnt make it foreign. English has words from almost all the major languages of world, that doesnt mean it is no more english. Urdu is nothing but Awadhi/Braj with few parsian words. Its grammer and majority of vocab is still Indian. Thats the reason other language groups like Punjabis can easily pick it.

  • Never said Urdu was a Persian language or anything of that sort. I know its an Indian language, but in this case, they are Urdu words that originate from Farsi. The syntax of the language is still very much South Asian with heavy influences from Middle Eastern languages, more so than any other South Asian language.

  • Sanskirt originated in the North of India and many subcontinental languages are derived from it not just Hindi & Urdu but also Punjabi, Bengali, Pali, Gujerati, Assamesse to name a few. Thoughout history, due to settlers, invaders, religion & local idosyncracies each language developed it's own unique personality. All northern subcontinental languages have influences from Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Pushto, English and Tamil and others. Be proud of your rich heritage & common background.

  • Madar in Sanskrit is Mother (pronounced the same..), Biradar is brother in Hindi, Biradri is same meaning as bretheren. The Alphabet to English is the same as well as written from left to right instead of right to left as Arabic is.

  • sleepless song pravin

  • Timeless Song.

  • I'm from Sri Lanka. I like many hindi songs and they are unbelievably great. Though I don't understand anything, I feel the meaning (even without the video) of the song. I like to request many great songs, unfortunately I don't know even a single word.
