This film was all kinds of disappointing. Bad acting and despite having all the time to cover the first 4 episodes, it doesn't stick to it's source material. I can handwave them on losing the exotic hair colors for a more realistic atmosphere, but the characters didn't even resemble their anime counterparts. At least the scenery was pretty...

A Higurashi movie? I haven't watched it, but I seriously dunno how they are going to squeeze 26 episodes into a movie, plus it doesn't have that rich 'Higurashi'-ness like in the anime. Rena's "Omochikaeri!" and Rika's "Nipah" elements don't seem to work here(I can tell), and last but not least, IF Keichi doesn't get to be with Rena at the end, there's no point watching it.

@boomk330 that's because the traditional USO DA had strong winds, moving trees and birds flying, which gave a sense on strength/how loud Rena said it. But maybe they couldn't do that in the movie, so they settled for the "shock and awe" method, to get viewers when they least expected it. get what I mean?

i couldnt agree moreso...especially if its just the first arc of the first season...that onne and the Mion and Shion ones were the creepiest...its hard to do what has already been done in an anime so perfectly...yet although they tried to make a live action film....some just cant become live axtion films....DBZ....but the anime is hands down....1 million times better than this crap and i bleleive everyone can agree with me

it looks sucks.. compared to the anime.. the anime was mindblowing.. beside they're taking only onikakushi hen arent they?.. i am curious how they would explain everything.. i bet it's gonna be like the ring.. where everything is made into a spiritual mystery.. when it is actually more of a science fiction story.. (i guess not a lot of people know that what kills the victim in the ring is actually a virus that cause the victim to be delusional as depicted by the original novel)

@RodeAPanda242 oh none taken, (most) american movies suck ass, some like donnie darko are good, but most suck, why do you think i watch anime and japanese shows/movies, they're better (story line wise, the quality of the acting and the special effects in the live action movies arent that good, some of the acting is good, but the story line in those suck, and the effects always suck, thats the only thing american movies are good with, but thats mainly it)
