  • Don't care who says what, i saw this on wogon and went out and bought it on 12" single back in the 70s she sings this better than anyone. she is the one .

  • sorry atheist, its an Elton john, Bernie Taupin song. End

  • Sorry, my mistake. I'm getting confused in my old age. Elton John. You're right, I'm wrong.

  • Elton John? Are you guys off your rocker? This is a David Bowie song, one of his first and one of his biggest.

  • The original was fantastic but I bet Elton John is seriously pissed off now. It's probably the best cover of any song that I've ever heard.....in my opinion that is.

  • This is just so good. I too perfer it to the original.

  • Kate Bush....I wish with all my remaining days that I could have known you. End of line...

  • what she's actually doing with that ukulele is anyone's guess.

  • Ooh I do love Kate's Bush :)

  • she takes me to another place!!!! i too, prefer to Sir ELTON!!!!! a bit of Sarah Brightman!!!!!

  • Nice Reggae style of this song, with her delicate gorgeous delicious voice. And she is quite a beauty at that.

  • If that's Gordon Brown, he's a dead ringer for Alistair Anderson, moves and all. Alistair Anderson's the best there is... he's on several of Richard Thompson's albums too.

  • I luv Kate Bush, but how did Gordon Brown get in on this gig with his squeeze box?

  • Epic - brilliant song.

  • One of her loveliest vocals. I love her style in this performance - so classy. She could teach today's acts a thing or two about keeping your dignity along with your talent.

  • Surely that is Gregory Peck on accordion?

  • Many thanks to Elton John for creating this song. And what a wonderful job he did on the whole thing. The singing, piano playing, absolutely timeless and to be enjoyed forever for as many generations that there will be on earth.

And then, Kate Bush. Beautiful wonderful amazing Kate Bush. Katie, you're such a precious jewel. Thank you for this excellent version, and for all your other music. You're eternal your dream girl you ! It's all absolutely positively good.

  • She reminds me of Tiny Tim, the way she moves while playing her ukelele. And that coquettish pout! In other words, I think she sucks.

  • it's seems like she is fucking

  • parece que tá dando

  • her voice is and always will be unique...it is HER VOICE that make her songs so Special....!

  • Not wanting to starting silly arguments, but I actually prefer William Shatners version to Kate's.

  • sex"y leg"s or wot.

  • Dont you just love her!

  • Came for Kate, stayed for Gordon

  • She was hot in a Alan Rickman-in-a-wig kinda way

  • A duo with UB40 would be great for this tune. Thanks great upload.

  • its no william shatner.

  • @jordanafrank Then you have bad taste in music. Sorry.

  • @babyblue5587 It's not an accordian.

I also prefer Kate's version much, much better than Sir Elton's. Just sayin'.

  • LOL! Babyblue you really made me laugh out loud!!!!

  • Totally original take on this tune. It's just too bad she's not really playing the ukelele. Love this.

  • @cmdraven She probably can though, Kate plays a lot of instruments :)

  • Brilliant

  • I love Kate Bush probably a long list there but I am first in line, Kate when you change your mind about a younger man let know I will be waiting.

  • lol. who is kate bush?

  • I love this performance she just looks really sexy in that suit MARRY ME KATE. Although there is one thing I find strange the womans face changes a lot over the years when you see her now (however rare that seems to me these days) and compare her to when she was younger they are like two different women. It is really is a puzzle definitely prefer the older Kate.

  • imposter, she sucks :/

  • In her genius sphere she is probably quite alone like the rocket man

  • I love the guitar playing : )

  • WOW!!!

  • The latest rumour I have heard about her is she all of a sudden likes the younger man, and I mean really young barely out of school. I know that might have made a lot of people go yeah get in. Almost jail bait age. Isn't she still married to Del (I mean Danny) what do you guys think?

  • Not wanting to start silly arguments, but I actually prefer her version to Elton's.

  • @iangordoncraig oh yeah? well i prefer jamaican beer to orange envelopes... Now THAT's a silly argument.

  • @afro10k lol

  • @iangordoncraig me too

  • @iangordoncraig Happily, it would appear that most of us probably agree with you. :)

  • MORE ERMINE PLZ

  • Is it me or does Danny Mcintosh look like Del Palmer, It is so uncanny I actually thought that was Danny playing the guitar. But the performance was 1991 they could almost be brothers. Del was her boyfriend before Danny what do you guys think. There definiitely is a resemblance.

  • @FuckRetroAnything She probably is, it was the done thing back then especially on TV!

  • Yes she is brilliant and stunning, I had a teacher who looks just like her.

  • Alistair Anderson on concertina. He's from the North East. Lucky sod to play with Kate

  • Comment removed

  • Ah! Gordon,concertina supremo.lucky old Kate.

  • It's good, but give me Shatner's version any day. :p

  • I have a really hard time not enjoying anything that Kate does. And this is another example. Love ya Kate.

  • I have a really hard time not enjoying anything that Kate does. And this is another example. Love ya Kate.

  • fantastic, elton jhon version is cool but kate is so magic

  • @vishiquals Just don't watch videos of music/musicians you don't like and then leave negative comments. There's no need for it. Just watch something you like - we all win!

  • BEST VERSION. KATE BUSH YOU NOT ONLY NAILED IT YOU SANG IT WELL.

  • @vishiquals Seeing as you're so fervent in your opinion, I'd be interested in some specific examples. In what aspects would you consider a record like "The Dreaming", for example, to be "commercial". Which songs, and why? I ask the same question re: Peter Gabriel's third record.

  • @vishiquals Umm if you think Kate's music is "commercial" then you're higher than a kite yourself.

  • @kylehudson00

On the surface it seems an odd comment. On the other hand, Kate is extremely rich. Maybe not Jo Rowling rich, but rich nonetheless. You usually don't get that way not engaging in commerce.

  • like Cindy Lauper in tune

  • @vishiquals Could you shut the fuck up?

  • what a sexy woman.....;-)

  • @Scrumdidilyumpchious Someone doesn't know what talent is.

  • SEX ON LEGS.

  • @6437431 AGREE.

  • @Finnster91 Maybe she's wasted or sick.

  • The reason she's so far king sexy is that she's a goddamn genius ... and she's hot too ;-)

  • @dogonfire No argument there.

  • Im surprised Elton let her upstage him.

  • @oneleggedmonkey Only Gordon Brown can upset old Reggie.

  • Damn what a sexy voice!

  • Dude with the concertina looks like Lurch from the Addams family. He came out of nowhere like him, too.

  • National treasure is right. Kate is by far the most spectacular talent on this planet and undisputable proof that God can get things right every once in a while. She is the definition of the power of a muse. Yes my mind sparkles when I see her performances.

  • i completely didnt get this song until kate made it amazing.

  • Now that's what I call a woman!!!

  • I checked this out after hearing it played on radio 2. This song really shows off the awsome power of kates voice. She is head and shoulders above the female plastic cloned voices we get today.

  • Oh my God what a beautifil woman. How can anyone describe Kate Bush, she was definately a pagan queen in her previous life, its enough to make you want to go back to the forest, if there are any left. James.

  • @020960108 agree!!!! i moved to norway recently. theres loads of forests there!

  • @DannyCavanagh2011 Hello danny, hope you are happy in Norway. I am not that much into popular music any more but i can never ignore Kate. Just the other day i heard her singing "In search of peter pan" I had never heard it before, i dont think it was even a single, but it was so beautiful. Thanks, James.

  • I think it's impossible for Kate to do something that isn't perfect..... she turned this song into a wonderful one!

  • she is a wee beauty

  • 'Have I got New for You' brought me here :D

    Song is awesome :D

  • @shanefahey Gordon browns old friends with kate bush... LMAO

  • @farrello479 It's her husband, Del Palmer, on bass.

  • @cathoderoy Del Palmer was Kate's boyfriend from 1978 to 1993. They never married.

  • @chuckdee121 If Kate Bush had married George Bush, then he probably would have been too busy to destroy the fucking world....but then, again, Kate Bush being fucked up enough to marry Satan??

  • @cathoderoy Doesn't Kate sound fantastic on this song? What a voice. George would have been a very different guy with Kate as a wife. A very lucky guy!

  • @tangcameo ...late response (just found this): nope, it'd Del Palmer, her husband...a.k.a. "the luckiest man on Earth"

  • Is it me or is this really sexy

  • Sorry Elton fans but I like this a lot better than the original version.

  • @2001perseus it's so true

  • fantastic! inspirational! magical! intelligent! unique! one and only kate bush!!!!!!!

  • I didn't know Gordon Brown played accordion

  • @babyblue5587 I would've gone with the Addams Family's butler

  • @babyblue5587 PMSL!!!

  • @babyblue5587

    Brilliant!!!

  • @babyblue5587 Ah, those simple, carefree days

  • @babyblue5587 i LOLd so hard when i read this, just as i was too laughing at that guys face - perfect observation!!

  • @babyblue5587 okay lets argue...i hate performers that just cover a song, without bringing anything...kate sure brings it and changes it nicely...but elton holds the edge...plus i cant get by the fact its a mans song

  • nice tribute to Alan Murphy ( R.I.P) with the guitar on the chair, great guitarist , Kate great singer.

  • what a babe what a voice .. haunting seductive .i was born in bexleyheath . wish i had met her although i was younger than her . she could be my cougar anytime :-p

  • I stillprefer William Shatner's version, but Kate Bush sure is something special. The Goddess of Bexleyheath!

  • she hasent lost a thing....never heard this version before....superb

  • Oh, my god! When the reggae kicks in I was in heaven. She's awesome.

  • SHE IS ENGLAND'S ROSE, IN MY OPINION!!!!

  • @bitcheata Everyone lip-synces

  • wow what a cover maybe even better than the original

  • 57 cheesedicks wouldnt know true art if it came gift wrapped and delivered by JC himself.

  • Would that be our Liam Óg swirling in at the end?

  • @joshualayne1 I think it's Gene Hunt. He left the police force after Ashes To Ashes. :-)

  • It's Gordon Brown on the accordion.

  • Best Cover of All Time!

...and i think its gonna be a long long time till someone equals her

  • Kate Bush voted among the top ten greatest living British icons on the BBC culture show.

  • @ggarlick46 Nah it's Peter Shilton.

  • @seehispugnosedface Kate was at no7,Sir David Attenborough was no1.Mcartney was 3,Bowie 4.No Peter Shilton, although Gordon Banks should have been in the top ten!

  • I think it's terrible without the piano. It's incomplete preety much.

  • First off, love this cover.

Second, I particularly love how the guy attempts to make the mini accordion look cool.

  • who knew Spock could play the accordion!

  • @bitcheata-it's not like that. Kate is a highly respected and groundbreaking artist. This is a fun cover,

And Elton is probably pleased and flattered.

BTW your comment makes you sound ignorant about both artists.

  • yeah man, it gives the song a new life.

  • GMILF.

    RESTECPA.

  • I love the uilleann pipes on this version. Love Kate.

  • If the UK has a national treasure, its kate.

  • @NapalmTheElf

    you did miss alot

  • just a beautiful cover - kate rules

  • She is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! A hint of Cyndi Lauper! LOVE IT!

  • Both versions are spectacular. This is one of the few examples of how you PROPERLY cover a song. Make it your own without depriving it of the integrity from the original. I hope Elton and Bernie liked it.

    @gnark1ll1us Right on.

  • elton couldn't wear her g-string!!!

  • I've known this for ages that exists, but I never got around to listening to it until now because I'm just not that into the song. Turns out that was a mistake - when Kate sings it, it's fantastic!

  • Wow, I have goosebumps from this angelic voice...

I did not know this version - for me it is better than the original from Elton !!!

And she looks so beautiful and balanced from here.

  • I think it's a Bernie Taupin song, not an Elton John song.

  • Lovin' this....Kate Bush is one of those artist you never forget the first time you heard her voice....awesome performance.

  • And I think it's gonna be a long, long time... till she performs again.

  • God she is a spectacularly beautiful woman.

In this day and age of course she would have been packaged up by simon cowell.

If she got signed at all. Keep pirating your music people and kill the record companies and make music free again. Pay to see bands you like, buy their merchandise, but lets stop them deciding what is IN this week and out the next.

Quality shines through, so let it.

  • There's a little Elton in Kate...and there's a little Kate in Elton, too! They inspired each other.

  • She's PERFECT in everything she does.

  • Anyone know the name of the bloke on the squeeze box? Wogan was great for performances like this.

  • @arosegrowingold There's a lit candle on the chair as well...

  • I like originals but I love Kate Bush. I have to say I like this version - even though I prefer the original.

  • Long hair she has!

And the performance is simply amazing

  • i think lady gaga is cool and i am sure kate will agree. as for the bass mistake . it cant be easey to play a bass with the end missing

  • i just love the surprise appearance by Gordon brown!

  • @wooly964 Did you watch that episode of Have I Got News For You as well, when guest host Jo Brand pointed that out? ;o)

  • Bass mistake at 1:42 starts to irritate me, perfect song though

  • epic

  • Interpretation!!! Excellent!!

  • Interpretation!!! Excellent!!

  • best version ever. love her and love the bass players moves and he looks a bit like my dad.

  • @joshualayne1 isnt it Gerard Depardieu at the bass?

  • better

  • The most original female artist ever (even though she's doing a cover). Sadly, nobody has even come close to truly stepping up to the plate for decades. Male or female. Sad really

  • @perrystroika Genius doesn't happen every day, Darlin'. That's why we gotta treasure it so.

  • @perrystroika Joanna Newsom. "Ys" is a far more original record than anything Bush recorded in terms of songwriting. There exists literally nothing even SLIGHTLY similar.

  • @Cacophonaut No comparison, Kates songwriting ability is far superior. Her songs are more well known and more unique.Fellow musicians acknowlege her ability thats why a lot of her songs are covered.

  • @Cacophonaut I've heard 'Ys.' It's not a patch on several of Kate's records.

  • @perrystroika great point, but there has been a couple to step up. thom yorke for one, jeff buckley would have matched him if he hadn't been taken away. there has been a handful of true greats since kate's heyday. i agree though, best female artist ever. she wouldn't see it that way of course.

  • I bet she would be a little tiger in bed- I would love to get high with her then burn her down in a beautiful all white bedroom with big soft quilted down comforters..then let her sing to me a bit while I nap. what a great way to spend a rainy sunday afternoon. then hot tea and some fruits and berries that hse prepared wearing nothing more than an apron.

    way to go Kate !

  • @nootaramus what the fuck?

  • @nootaramus Burn HER down?? Better have some Red Bull and a fire extinguisher handy!

  • 2:42

Okay, am I the only one who sees the piano guy of Abba? Scary, he shouldn't be there! He looks just like the guy though.

  • This is one sexy lady. She does rocket man way better than Elton could ever do.

  • Love Kate, but this is a crap version of Rocket Man. Pointless.

  • great version

  • I love how Kate doesn't shout, scream or rap when she sings.

  • @trafficsignal101 I don't think so! I have never heard of Shatner, who the fuck is Shatner?

  • @trafficsignal101 Bill Shatner is an actor that has performed on many TV shows and movies from Capt Kirk of Star Trek in the 60's up to Denny Crane from Boston Legal. Here is his Wiki profile since it appears you are too friggen stupid to look up any thing youself. Before you drop the F bomb try pulling your head out of your own ass and do a little research!

  • @trafficsignal101 Well, you're a royal boob aren't you? If you thinks Shatner did a better version, you must have cancer of the ear drum or just suffer idiocy.

  • @trafficsignal101

U realy dont understand music do you
