  • I'm going to miss that sound. :-(

  • Another one of those cheesy USAF videos from the '80s. Much love for the C-5, though.

  • are there any c-5 pilots? i might wanna fly one of those.

  • I just refuse to believe both the Airbus A-380 and the Antonov An-124 are larger than the C-5. The only plane in my mind that is clearly larger than the C-5 is the Antonov An-225.

  • @TheEmperorOfWei the 225 is a 124 basically, with a few obvious differences

  • @TheEmperorOfWei

the airbus a-380 is the biggest "passenger" plane

  • @TheEmperorOfWei agreed

  • @TheEmperorOfWei dude the an-124 is bigger than the c-5 and the biggest plane in the world is the an-225

  • @1rich12396able Experts base size on total loaded weight. The 124 wins there because it has more powerful engines allowing it to carry more cargo (893,000lbs vs 849,000lbs). The 124 has a longer wingspan, a slightly taller height, and a slightly wider cargo bay. The Galaxy is 21 feet longer and has a longer cargo bay.

  • @TheEmperorOfWei IDIOT !!! THE GALAXY C-5 WAS BUILDED IN 1968 .

  • @DEVASTATOR478 What does the year that the plane was built have to do with its size? Who's the idiot now?

  • @TheEmperorOfWei lighting you idiot! over the years airplanes have grown in size from the 707 to the 747 to date with the A380. He studied before talking about cerebral palsy...brain's shit .

  • @DEVASTATOR478 Uhhh....A plane's age has nothing to do with it size. The C-5's ancient in aircraft terms, yet it's still larger than most other aircraft in the world, including the Boeing 707 and 747.

  • Isn't the c-17 the c-130 replacement?

  • no I don't think so, the C-17 will be around a little longer and the C-130 is another long timer.

  • No...the C-17 replaced the C-141

  • the C-17 didn't replace any aircraft boeing decided to combine the two such as refuel in mid air open its bay door in mid flight land in combat conditions and drop paratroopers its a combined variant of the C-141 and the C-130

  • And when they retired the C-141, the C-17 replaced it's mission.

  • Nope, C-17s were meant to replace the C-5s, but as we can all tell thats never gonna happen. C5s replaced 141s. Why you would not put a FE in a c-17 and replace them with another pilot is beyond me. C-17s are trash hauling trailer park queens.

  • I can't say I agree 100%..USAF was retiring the 141 and needed an aircraft that had the versatility of the 141 with the ablity to haul some out sized cargo as well as palletized cargo like the C-5...the C-17 does a little of both.

  • I heard at the Great New England Air Show that the c-17 WAS a replacement!

  • It is but more for the C-141

  • Aaaahhh!!!!

  • come to wright patterson airforce base and live in my neighborhood. Those fly over my house almost 24-7 everyday. and those are the exazct sounds they make when they fly over

  • We don't kick them out that much.. :p

  • lol i just started watching this 15 seconds after you commented XD

  • EngineJoe31: Four times is like Deja Vu all over again.

  • thanks! I love sound C5! powerful general electric engine!!!

  • So is this a C-130 replacement?

  • Carpe per diem.. Other C-5 Aircrew know what I'm talking about.

  • oh snap what happened?

  • they're no longer gonna have that unique sound because they are going to upgrade the engines that use less fuel they are going to be the same engines used on commercial aircraft so it's just gonna sound like a normal plane

  • ok...

  • right we get it..

  • why the fuck are you posting the same comment 3 times??

  • they're no longer gonna have that unique sound because they are going to upgrade the engines that use less fuel they are going to be the same engines used on commercial aircraft so it's just gonna sound like a normal plane

  • 4 times!

  • when the c-5 galaxy has a large black nose its kinda scary

  • Why is it scary when it has a large black nose?

  • there are things from the past that ive seen

  • fuckin massive jet

  • I got my money's worth. 6981.5 hours C-5 instructor flight engineer. I saw a lot of things in my short 24 year career! 1979-2003 Travis AFB. 60 OMS/AGS 22AS.

  • Well no shit, why else would sombody build somthing like that. To carry 1 billion ping pong balls???

  • Whoever you are, you're hilarious! LOL!

  • In 17 years and 6,500 flight hours, my personal experience was that I flew more humanitarian missions than I did for "warfare." Fires, floods, famine... the Galaxy has done them all.

  • Hey dude. This airplane delivered food to starving people in Somalia in the early 1990s. I was at Mogadishu Airport and saw tons and tons of live-saving food unloaded form this cargo airplane (that doesn't have guns or carry bombs.) You need to do some homework. The C5 also has delivered medical supplies to victims around the globe, as well as teams of doctors, nurses and medical personnel.

  • I was an American journalist who went Somalia 5 days after the Marines landed at the beach in Mogadishu... I'll try and find my news footage showing the C-5 and our C-130s flying in food, water and medicine. These Air Force guys hung their butts out on the line to save starving people... talk about GUTS...

  • The C-5 Galaxy? Designed for warfare? You're kidding, right?

  • yea im at travis right now

  • god i what to to see travus afb base again
