  • Great run , didn't even know Viewed passed away what happened to cause his death? sad to hear it but this horse is the history books now.

  • @jlennon48 twisted bowel i think?? something along those lines

  • i live in Australia and i love the Melbourne cup races!!!

it is literally the "Race that Stops the Nation"

  • Viewed did not win this cup bower did. He was the faster horse. But because bart cummings owned viewed they changed the finishing times at the end of the race. Bart cummings should be stripped of his winnings! The horse raceing community would be better off if bart cummings fucked off and died. Shame on you!

  • I bet $2 on Viewed

    man I gamble xD

  • Wow.... check out Zipping's run. My favourite horse to this day, now retired. Was tracking nicely into the race at the 600m when it ran up the back of Honolulu who was traveling like a busted arse. Finished about 9th, hitting the line the hardest of any runner. Had terrible luck in the Melbourne Cup over his four starts in the great race.

  • @JohnnyGastev My favourite horse too. In my opinion, probably finished the best in all of his cups. If he had a little bit of luck in all 4 races, he would have won all 4. Such a pity he's retired, I was really excited at the possibility of him clinching a win, and backing up for a 5th straight Sandown Classic.

  • i won $100 on viewed

  • Only now I am able to watch this race again. At work we boxed 5 horses in first 4, Viewed, Bauer, C'est Le Guerre, Profound Beauty and Septimus. Profound Beauty doesn't quite run the trip out and we run 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th beaten a nose. It Paid 412 grand! Punting is evil!

  • The most thrilling finish ive ever seen.......

I cant help thinking that we are just "holding on"

Its only a matter of time before one of those "European Horses" breaks thru......

  • This is the only race at 2+ miles that I ever saw Septimus fade away in. He was always one of my favorite Ballydoyle colt's. I still to this day don't know why Septimus faded so badly in this race. Because he'd ran at this distance in winning the Doncaster Cup and the Lonsdale Cup. Also ran all over the Curragh Cup and Irish St Leger fields as well. This turned out to be his final race. I would've loved to seen Septimus finish much better than he did in the Melbourne Cup.

  • @GBeret83 the speed of the race and the quality of horses ended up being too much for septimus, yes he was usually consistently excellent over 3000 metres but you need to consider the horses he was racing against in the cup, the quality imo wasnt as good in europe as it is over here.

  • Im in shock, I dont remember hearing about the death of "Viewed"

    RIP Buddy - Never Forgotten.

  • what a race

  • Comment removed

  • rip, sad, i backed it this ride, loved him

  • RIP i will always remember him for his underdog effort crushing the hopes of the uk raiders , (septimus mad rush honolulu and co...) rest in peace viewed enjoy your home in horsey heaven

  • Very sad news to see that Viewed passed away on the weekend.

This was one of the most memorable Melbourne Cup victories ever, and his Brisbane Cup win was absolutely devastating.

Viewed was one of the best stayers that Australasia had seen in quite some time.

    RIP buddy.

  • @Mogsthamisfit101 i agree but if you are looking for a very good stayer that was makybe diva... the only mare to win 3 melbourne cups in a row... but veiwed was an excellent horse too... they were both in the same boat.. late maturers but still awesome stayers

  • @circusgal44 Yep, the Diva was really something, though I've never really been as enamoured by her as most other racing fans are, heh.

  • @circusgal44 Sorry, enamoured with her, not by her. Bad english, bad! Lol.

  • RIP.

  • if thats hih quality then im the wicked witch of the west (elphaba). anyway i remmber this day. 30 of us in the lounge room screaming our fukin heads off

  • High Quality my ass.

  • What a pain. I backed Bauer last year and Crime Scene this year.

  • i backed bauer last year aswel and was gutted to lose by such a small margin, but this year backed shocking stuck with corey brown what a ride 3 wide most of the way when the horse likes to race on the rails as it tends to pull to the left fucken ripper ride and race

  • phat. I must admit that Shocking won the hard way. No shame in being beaten by that one. I thought Bauer should have won last year.

  • Thanks for downloading this video in such tip top shape. Cheers.

  • what a shit ride by those european fukheads

  • Great race....

Breeding is the most important factor in the big races.....

If you haven't got the right breeding the horse won't win....

Check all the past winners they all have the best sire's and bloodlines..... You can't got past Alcopop he is all ready 5/8 a Melbourne Cup winner by breeding....

  • A great run in the Caulfield Cup from Viewed, although I'd Say Roman Emperor had the best run.

Personally I dont believe Viewed will win the Melbourne Cup this year, too large of competition for him this year. Including Vigor, who also had a great race in the Caulfield Cup.

  • Yep xD

  • Viewed is a great stayer.

About the only flaw for Viewed here is he took the lead too early if he had of left it for 50 metres or so he probably could have won by a length or so. And Blake Shinn Put way too much whip into Viewed to early, and too much too late. Great work finishing as he did but i think Bauer deserved to win that, he put in a whole lot more effort in than Viewed did.

  • Not completely sure without seeing a proper replay, but I'd have to say that Master O'Reilly had the run of the race in the Caulfield Cup. Good runs from a few others as well - Vigor, Kirklees, Roman Emperor and Daffodil.

Viewed will go up a few kilos for his win in the Caulfield Cup, and after nearly being run down last year I'm not so confident of a repeat Melbourne Cup win this year.

  • The talk is he will get 1kg penalty, but, he is a better horse this year than last year and he is also a monster of a horse so 1 or 2 kgs won't make much difference. I think he will win it again.

  • the more it rains the better C"est La Guerre chances check his N.Z Derby win i think Master Oreilly and daffodill are big chances too(caulfeild cup)

  • i won so much money on viewed

  • How much reptile ?

  • That was the most Thrilling Melb Cup I have ever seen.

I have to say, I think the Cup is on its way to Europe. As someone earlier said, it seems like we are just "Hanging On"

  • and to think I had bauer. What a bummer, in 07 I had the horse that ran 3rd, 2nd in 08

  • Bart is the master..........

  • Cunting Corey Brown. I had 500 each way on bauer after his Geelong cup run.

It should have shit it in with a decent ride.

  • Couldn't fault his ride at all. What exactly did you not like about it...?? Actually Viewed got to the lead too early (400m and had the whip on him at 300m) and to the horse's credit was the better stayer for being flogged for so long. I reckon he is a huge chance for 2009.

  • @WawixWorld sick one he went shit in 2009

  • @givesy123 That's cos he was almost on his nose down the straight the 1st time.

  • @givesy123 I'd say he had a very good 2009 season. A G1 win in the Caulfield Cup and a 3rd placing in the Mackinnon. Was checked early on in the Melbourne Cup and had to settle near enough to last , wasn't going to make it easy with 58kgs on his back. Still managed to run a close up 7th and add another lazy couple of hundred thousand dollars to the owners wallets. You went shit in 2009 !

  • Haha, and Corey won on Shocking this year. Bet you didn't back him, but I did...

  • NO one gives a shit.

  • great video!

  • Great quality video! Thanks!

Wish you could post more 2008 racing video.

  • Great run C'est La Guerre, he covered more gound than 1st and 2nd and was disappointed for a run for much of the straight he also carried more weight than the first two. He won the NZ Derby by 4 lengths and is a horse to follow this autumn and next spring imo.

  • Are you going to be on C'est La Guerre for the Caulfield/Melbourne Cup???

  • This race gave me my most thrilling moment in 20 years as a punter when Viewed burst to the front. Thanks for posting.
