  • omg she sounds like an angel and it brings me back to the old disney !!

  • To listen to Barbara is to live that song.

  • perfect.

  • what type of singer would you classify her as (opera, soul, rap (obv not but you know what i mean)

  • Barbara Cook at the ehight of her powers, here she matches a pure voice that just flies into infinity with a matchless understanding of the words...this is without a doubt in my mind the best version of this song that has ever been sung by ANY singer be it operatic or pop !

  • Barbara Cook was in Toronto and I didnt get to see her because I was sick. I hate myself!

  • @alexmz123 you missed an AMAZING show. What a wonderful evening it was.

  • i love her, i just wish she wouldnt wear dresses like that lol

  • @celtticnesses And how would YOU dress a woman in her 80s?

  • she looked and sounded like an old fairy, making me believe in whatever she was singing.

  • Barbara Cook was the only singer Walt wanted to sing the classics from his great films. Thank goodness he got her to agree. Her CD is as magnificent as the unforgetable, magical Disney creations we all remember, You will also now always khow how Walt wanted them to sound!

  • Barbara cook is probably the most accomplished singer every to start on the Broadway stage. Here she's 81, and as wonderful as ever. This is wonderful.

  • @shadowmom She's not 81 here; this is 1995, so she's in her mid-60s. She does still sound great now, though! :-)

  • this is so-called the perfection, one of the best performance ever in the world

  • I was at the concert in Melbourne in Nov 1995...a truly magical evening...there are not enough superlatives...sheer perfection

  • absolutely beautiful. amazing talent!

  • she's good

  • hard to type with all these tears of joy.....

absolute perfection she is and I thank you for the post of one of my favorite pieces of music sung by a true artist

  • Nice one!! It is really worth the effort to find Ms. Cook's Disney album - it is brilliant. My favorites include "When I See An Elephant Fly" (from DUMBO). She harmonizes with HERSELF - and credits the "girls" with names "boggled" from Barabara Nelle Cook; and "The Second Star From The Right" (from PETER PAN). This one because when she sings "..and when you bring him my way...." I really think she was singing about ME! Love this woman - simply The BEST!

  • Just the best

  • Excellent Miss Cook

  • Barbara Cook and Susan Boyle.

Yeah, THAT'S what I want to see.

We are sooo fortunate to have both at once

  • this lady can do no wrong. OOh that voice is so pure and nuanced!

  • shes heavenly

  • And has anyone spotted the delicious allusion to Meistersingers at around 3.06? Not bad.

  • Wowzer. Makes me feel like a babe in the woods in the music realm. She's incredible.

    Really really lovely!

  • Barbara has a God-given voice, and how blessed we are that she shares it with us!

  • Beautiful.......and timeless.

  • What an amazing thing it is live in a world with such talent.

  • An amazing talent. She takes a song and makes it her own. After she sings a song, I pity anyone else who tries to perform the same piece.

  • Check out Barbara's Disney CD. This song is included!

  • When did she perform this?

  • My favourite version of this song is by original singer, Cliff Edwards. And I think after that, Barbara's version which is as good as the original!

  • well, the original song was performed by louis armstrong, and he had a very special style that I have never seen anyone attempt afterward

  • dresden: Wrong. Cliff Edwards--the man behind the cricket--sang it. It was not until Pinnochio was a box-office hit that "Wish Upon a Star" became Disney's theme.

  • This beautiful song has been sung by nearly every performer from Judy Collins and Julie Andrews to Barbra Streisand and even Joan Sutherland. But Barbara Cook's version has a soulful and sincere quality that is unmatched.

  • I don't know what it is with this clip, but I've seen it a few times now and every time my eyes well up with tears...Barbara's voice is always extraordinay, but with this version she reaches somewhere in my subconcious I just can't control! what a voice!

  • Extraordinary.

  • I used to associate this song with singing mice. Barbara changes everything!

  • sublime. most singers fade with age - not her! Seeing her again in London in December and I can't wait. The voice, phrasing and personality is heavenly. A TRUE talent.

  • Amazing and enduring talent.

  • Beautiful.
