Haha! I love how delicate he is when laying the puddy/resin layer...then the complete contrast when wetting out the fiberglass mat. Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack!

I am pretty sure it is a soft clay. Not sure what kind, but its just to depress the plug(fish) halfway so he can create half of the mold. Then fish and bondo mix are flipped and the 2nd side of the mold is made after clay is removed.
