Van Damme isn't even close in terms of rank, but he's fought in competition, keeps himself in good shape, and is going to be fighting in an MMA match this year at the age of 50.
Getting obese and telling everyone you're a 7th dan isn't very impressive to me.

@GreenPanther13 At least he's fought. And he may be old, but Seagal is old, FAT as fuck, and has NEVER fought in a fight in his life (unless you count him beating Kelly Lebrock or getting choked out by Gene Lebell).
You can talk shit about Van Damme all you like, but the bottom line is that he's at least tested himself in competition, and he's in great shape. Seagal is fat as hell and done nothing but demonstrations.

Morris Chestnut, who was in 2 of of his movies, is on record saying he's very rough with stuntmen to make the fighting look real. Stephen Quadros, a stunt guy/MMA fighter, said that he put a few of his friends in the hospital by taking liberties with them during fight scenes.
