i have my rz 350 registered now and fully rebuilt, have jim lomas pipes on and you wouldnt believe the sound they produce. went for first long ride and have a few minor issues to sort out bike is a weapon and will wheel stand under power will post some video at earliest available time.
hi rustycycler, just put all bits together on my rz, fuelled up and all fluids in, kicked it over and started 2nd kick after engine sitting on the bench for 3 months while i got all my go fast bits delivered, you should hear lomas pipes close up nothing can describe it and add the smell of r30 2 stroke oil to the sound and you are in heaven
aaron, when your ready to sell those Lomas pipes..... gimme a shout !! Your RZ project sounds great tho, I should start moddin the hell outta mine, but I'm broke from the ATV project I'm working on. Im currently building a frame-up Honda 250r project. All aftermarket. Maybe once I get the 250 running, i'll throw some cash at my RZ.
And ya, Klotz R30 2 stroke oil smells sooooooooooo damn good.
i am rebuilding one right now, carbon reeds, re jetted, jim lomas exhaust, tarozzi rear sets & fork brace, y boot toomey air filter, polished wheels & polished fork legs & polished triple clamp & battery box, galfer braided lines & wave disks, fully sandblasted frame and powder coated, everthing has been cleaned and new gaskets all round, just waiting on finished paint panels to come back in red & blue kenny roberts colours. Long live RZ 350, i also have a MV 1000 to play with
aaron your RZ project sounds awsome. Make sure you post up some video when you get her all together.
Iv been moddin' Banshee's for 10 years now and I picked up my RZ back in '04. The RZ has a set of FPP pipes(wish I had a set of Lomas). I have the Toomey air filter\no airbox and Im running a set of V-Force reed cages.
I wish I would have been able to get a hold of a 2 stroke bike when I was younger. I talked to guys who used to race them in england and they say nothing really compares to those old bikes
Oh that sound brings back memories - I rode an '81 RD350LC for years. Just today as a matter of fact, I dropped a check for an RZ350R.. ready to go next week, except for the time of year of course. Cannot wait to twist the wrist on a ring-zinger again.
they were RD350LC[liquid cooled]in australia and later on they were RZ350YPVS{yamaha powered valve system].Owned both, the rz being a little more refined if you can use that term in regards to these bikes. They were obnoxious, anti-social,fukin fast and a shit load of fun
nice vid. I guess I am partial because there is an 84 RZ-350 in my garage sitting next to an 85 Tri-Z 250. If you've never ridden a 2-stroke ya wouldn't understand.
