do you live in a rural community tornpages? have you ever lived in a rural community? this is not about a few local government councillors trying to save jobs it is about the future of rural communities. i want my kids to have the same opportunities that I have had. the vast majority and I mean vast majority of rural queenslanders are vehemently opposed to forced amalgamtion. Something we will probably never get to demonstrate now the Beattie government has outlawed a referendum
Local politics exist because of State Government legislation not the State Constitution. Hence all local politicians work for the State's Local Government Minister (in theory at least).
After these changes come into action local politicians still need to be elected. So what's all the fuss?

Dridaho I am starting to suspect that you are affiliated with the Qld Labour Party. Being a councilor in a small rural shire is neither lucrative or cushy. It would be interesting to know whether you have even taken any time to understand this issue, before commenting on an important subject. If I find these comments on other anti amalgamation videos I will be certainly investigating whether you are paid by QLD Labour Party
