@mozzer35 You have a good point, but keep in mind that YouTube did not always allow 1GB files to be uploaded. This was uploaded 5 years ago! They had file size limits of 20MB at the time and most videos were completely pixelated. 240P was all there was. I did this as an experiment in compression...and at this point, there is no reason to take it down. That being said, it still looks better than most of the other versions of this same video, it just doesnt have the size options.

Check out the Marés Vivas 2008 performance here on youtube! He's still got it, he looks and sounds great! I was fortunate to be able to see him live in Cleveland back in '99 when Wild Birds came out, and see Bauhaus when they opened for NIN a few years back, wish I could see him on his current tour, he's in top form and has a great backing band..still holding my breath for one final Bauhaus tour...

Once he opened up for the Cure in the Woodlands, Texas in the early 90's. Some dude was singing along with him in the front row and he stopped performing, then he screamed into the mic "you sing the fucking song"...then he threw the microphone at the floor and walked off stage. It was bizarre.

I figured it was just Goths do...Anyways, just an anecdote from my highschool days for anyone interested in PM's history. Cool song.

As far as I recall it's about drug addiction so I have no idea why everyone is giving negative comments on your comment :( But as to limiting it to a specific the most likely choice would be coke. As far as the small pupils go, in that clip the sun (or a strong light) is directed into his face so that would give the impression of heroin usage. Hope that helps :)

I had the pleasure of meeting him on his Holy Smoke tour at the Greek Theatre in California. He is really nice and signed our disc sleeves for us after realizing we weren't stalking him. Best show ever outside under the stars with Final Solution as his encore. Will always remember his stage presence as magical and majestic.

You can hear 'Cuts you up' on 'Deep'(1990),one of Peter Murphy's best records.

This song is from his first solo cd Deep and it's a must own. His other stuff, unfortunately, isn't as good. This tune is a classic. For another great album along these lines look into Siouxie and the Banshees, Tinderbox.

Actually 'Deep' is Peter's 3rd solo album. His first one was 'Should The World Fail To Fall Apart' which came out in 1986. His 2nd was 'Love Hysteria' in 1988 and IMO is his best album. 'Deep' was released in 1990.

This video was made in 1990. You still had to be creative. I LOVE the running though the woods sequence. It make me long for Autumn. It takes me back during a time when i was a young teen. When i once could walk outside during a cool October night and smell fall leaves burning.

it's actually a synth. they tried to have an actual cello during the sessions but they couldn't get it to sound just right (as you hear on this track).

not sure if an electric bass played with a bow would really sound like that anyways....

I asked my brother-in-law, who is a professional bass player, and he says it is impossible to play an electric bass with a bow without special flat-wound strings and a special bridge to raise the strings properly. Basically, it looks cool for the video, but it was a synth like twistedviewlabs wrote.
