we pull out trees with out major by wrapping a rope round the base of the tree and just looping the other end round the link arms and liftin it straight up
Well the rear rims are solid cast iron to add weight. (was fun fitting a new tyre recently) but trust me that motor has enough grunt to easily lift the front wheels. It'll spin a rotary hoe no probs and it has been worked hard.
Its all in the gearing and it has a low/high range gearbox.
have a 4 cil major/ ebro, in a smal ferry here at Brielle the netherlands engine is 40 plus years old about 80000 hrs(!) running no trubles with it!(LOL)
they're so gooood engines !!! My grand uncle's got a 54 (I believe) Fordson Major, he restaured it and it's like new, but it was already at the farm when my father was a child ! He also has a 72 Massey 165, did nothing on it and he's not very careful but never had troubles with it, and ALWAYS starts after less than 2 sec of cranking... it's amazing, I love this tractor, I'll restaure it one of these days...
Thats a good old girl you got there, i have one exactly the same as yours!

im surpised it could pull that out. the fordson major weighs to much for the size of motor it has

The Fordson Power and Super Major are too old now for that, get a JCB instead, use the Major for splitting blocks and and us it for light work
