I just ordered mine today. This Strat as well as the 62 Vintage Hot Rod is the closest thing you're gonna get to a Fender Custom Strat. Your playing is sweet bro. Keep Rock'n!
Beautiful playing my good man. I have one of these beautiful hotrod 57's. I'm taking the pickups out it and I'm putting in a set of EMG DG20's. As a kid seeing Gilmour playing that red strat had such an effect on me. I know you have to be him to play like him but what the he'll. My other 2 strats are set up differently from each other so I have a nice balance with the 3 of them.
@MrMalq Thanks for the feedback! Appreciated :-) 3 strats hmmmmm nice! I've had 9 over the years and no 2 werer teh same :-) Got to mex 70s ones now and I just love em.
@MrKingNemanja I had, a 57 reissue with texas specials. Awesome fat bright tone. The dimarzio on the hot rod sounds more generic and less stratty ... but I prefer its fullness. I'd have texas specials in mid and neck if they were quiet ... For me the lack of noise and the dimarzio wins for me.
@MrKingNemanja agree that a lot of annoying noise, but the guitar has a lot more vibration with alnico v pickups, with noisless is a little bit without vibe, like numbed.
nice vid and i own the new american deluxe with the three n3 pickups and it is great. it also has an SI switch that lets you go from parrallel to in series
Very nice, you play very well, and that guitar has a wonderful tone. Have you played the the vintage reissue, with the vintage frets? just curious...about the fretting out problem everybody keeps talking about??..anyways..youre guitar/and youre fingers have a wonderful tone.
@stratcat429 hi. Thank you, you are very kind. I had a 57 reissue and couldnt get on with the fatter, sticky neck. Sounded awesome though. I've likted the hot rod pups into a classic 70's strat and I prefer that to the hot rod .. despite its thin frets and 7.5" fingerboard its easier to play - closets to my 1st strat a 1974 hard tail ... lovely U shaped neck which is my fave profile. No fretting out - never bothered hendrix, gilmour or Blackmore:-)
@hafstrat I agree..if it's good enough for Gilmour, Hendix, and the list goes on.and on , It's good enough for me:-) Ive been researching 57' reissue's for a while, "you tube is great". But your'e video definitely sold me on them. I guess ill just haft to get used to the sticky nitrocellulose finish neck. Thank you for helping me make a Big Decision.
@barclytheking I havnt played a new american deluxe so I dont know. Depends on what neck profile you like and if you want a mini bucker in the bridge. The soft V on the hot rod is best for me. Its a matter of preference so there is no better or worse. The hot rod costs more ....
To be honest the neck is still a bit sticky feeling but the back is slowly going more matt, which is good. Slowly. Fitted emg dg20s so it'll get more play time now.
@hafstrat May be I'm blind :) Can't see that you wrote it in your description lol)) Could you send this backtrack on my e-mail please? tupolevm"at"mail.ru
@TokeHuge Wow. I am flattered to get such praise from a Les Paul owner. Praise indeed. I love Les Paul tone. I've put the hot rod pups into a classic 70's strat which sounds even more awesome. Maybe its the rosewood board. Got emg dg 20s in the hot rod - popped em in 2 hours ago. Man its the strat to die for. silent as a very silent thing silently padding through soft thick snow. But the tone RIPS :-) looks cool too. ala Mr Gilmour.
@UltimateStratocaster Thank you, you are very kind :-) Its a great strat, noiseless and hotter than the US standard, but it doesnt quiet have the tone of the regular single coil pups but it rocks. It has less top. Still very nice and hey, you can compensate on the mixer.
I have an '08 American Standard Strat in black that I had installed EMG DG-20 set (white pups, black pickguard). I really like the guitar, but I'm really tempted on trading up for one of these '57 Hot Rods (a red one like yours). The problem is that I can't find any in stock at any store near me. Sometimes I prefer a thicker feeling neck than the one on my Strat. Do you think this guitar would be the way to go based on my preferences? Classic looks, "soft V - neck " & Gilmourish tones. Thanks.
@315hb Hi there. The hot rod is the best strat I've owned, (out of 8) also the most expensive but worth it :-). The neck is much slimmer than the US 57 re-issue and the fat frets and flatter radius make it much easier to play. And its very very quiet. I'd like to swap the pups if I get some spare cash. Single coils do it for me. Search on line, I got mine on line and paid £1200. Dolphin Music are great. I've bought 2 strats unseen on line - from reputable dealers and and loved em both. :-)
@daehkcarc Hmmmm. I am not a Santana fan but I guess I've been influenced by everyone I've heard. Gilmour and Moore inspire my bends. At the end of the day this is me playing like me :-)
@hafstrat Sounds like David Gilmour inspired your tone too. How did you get it? As lovely as those pickups sound, I am surprised that you haven't swapped them out for the EMG David Gilmour pickups. I would imagine it wouldn't be too much trouble removing them from that horrible pearloid pickguard and installing them on the 57's white pickguard for a true replica of David's Strat of choice throughout the 80's and 90's? Awesome though! Would love to hear you playing some Floyd/Gilmour!
@DannyNewman Right on! I had a red strat with dg 20's and didnt get on with it. Too pristine. I am making a replica of the black strat. Waiting for cs 69 pups for it. At some point I'll drop something else in the hot rod ... fancy a seymour duncan ssl5 at bridge. Its a greta axe but the pups, though quite arent "perfect." Check out my shine on 70s strat vid!! What do you think to THAT tone?
@MacDrevi0us HI. Thankyou. The strat has 2 x single coil noiseless pups and a bridge dimarzio mini-humbucker. Played into a Pod X3 live, via a behringer mixer into studio monitors. Recorded direct into an 8 track Tascam Portastudio. Been playing since I was 16.
@hafstrat Nice setup! I meant more of what specifically what were you using on the PodX3. Obviously an overdriven sound but I was wondering what other subtleties might be going on?
How many years has it been since you were 16? Haha not trying to make you uncomfortable just trying to get an estimation of where i think I should be at in relation.
Reprofiled? No. Chose a neck with a 9.5 profile yes.

Great playing =D I've got a question: Is the neck getting worn with time? As i know it's the NITRO lacquer so it should be "wornable".

i must admit, as a les paul owner, that your strat has a very thick, creamy tone, which is incredible.
