Maybe, maybe not. The Doctor has a pretty unique view on death, as he can never die. And he, and many others, have stated before that death is part of what defines us as human beings. And apart from that, a normal life, and a normal death is always what The Doctor has longed for.

The Doctor and the Master are the only two timelords left. He'd rather have his enemy alive than nothing at all. Also the doctor is the man who helps people, I suppose he would like to help the Master.
