Callas never PERFORMED the queen of the night, but she did teach it in a masterclass at Juilliard back in the 70's. There is an audio-only video up on Youtube somehwere. It was a great class, and you can hear her singing along with some of the coloratura parts particularly in the first aria. It's crazy that she could have performed the role if she had wanted to.

I know Callas never perfomed the Queen of the Night ... omg, I said, for some moments, Diana's voice reminded me of Callas voice. I have that recording of Callas in my favorites, i wasn't born when she died...I only hear bad recordings and most commercials have her voice , my parents went to hear her when she came to lisbon. I think she may have, but just chose not to do it on stage. She had a really good E at one point. I really think that if she had really wanted to sing the role she could have done it with maybe a less desirable F than what would fall into the rest of her range - Kind of like Beverly Sills.
