Interesting to hear your thoughts about this and inspiering that see that there are people out there thinking in these ways!
I have have traveled long term a lot with family. It has actually been our lifestyle for many years. We have put a lot of focus on beeing able to creating an independant life. We haven't been tied up neither by a specific job nor school for the kids. We work and learn from wherever we are. We have a home base but we all feel very much like world citizens.
I guess for me I like to spend an extended period in one area and go deeper into the culture. This suits me better then constant travel. Maybe I'll see you in the Baja this winter!
First, pick a place, country or continent you've always wanted to see. Then figure the best and cheapest way (for you )to do it. I pull a travel trailer anywhere I can which allows me use of my truck and motorcycle to launch my adventures and have a very inexpensive base camp with all the creature comforts I need Usually I google things first then go to the library to compare reference materials, travel guides etc. After which buy my favorite then I set a date for departure. cont'd
I travel currently for half the year. The other half I grow a garden, prep for the collapse (spend time with friends, train in martial arts, guns, learn survival skills, accumulate silver etc). I retired at 39 a couple years ago and currently collect rent as a means of income. The mobile life as you have described is what I am living. Awesome way to live, I have NEVER been happier. First get as clear as you can on what you want...the rest will follow
Nice video Janet. Be careful with your mobile lifestyle. Unfamilia places can get you into trouble easy. A pretty face like yours can attract some unwanted attention out on the road. All the best
Hi Janet. Travel writing is a really fun and rewarding thing to do, but it can be pretty difficult to make much money, and expenses are high! It is a dream for so many people, and the competition is huge! I worked in the travel industry for about 15 years (running a UK based ski company), and wrote many pieces while travelling in USA, Canada and Europe. Some were successful, some were not - it is a cut throat business! You can make a great living, but pretty difficult to get started. Good luck!
"Two adventurers climbed the face of a craggy, spectacular cliff; at the very precipice, one cried out with accomplishment,"We did it! We've achieved the most difficult climb in the history of man"; the second climber took off her jacket, pulled out her wings and caught the breeze; the other stood gloating in greatness"
I live this way, Janet. Years ago I was working on my laptop in cafes. Now I live where I choose, work for the people I choose to work for, and I can live almost anywhere I choose. Cyber-space, though, is far less limiting. I do have to be near larger urban centers because I serve those who can't serve themselves. I like your concept, although, one must discover what it is that they want. I discovered what I was looking for in life, so need to move around, for me.
My current income sources are the Adsense blogs and the PC repair business that my business partner and I own.
My ideal income sources would be travel writing (I love writing and I love traveling!!!), operating my own travel blog/vlog - and of course still the Adsense blogs.
Hopefully these Adsense blogs will be the stepping stones I need to make the transition to this lifestyle.
Life is too short to not do the things you need and want to do. Everyday counts.
An interesting idea. I used to travel light when I was your age. I could load everything I owned in my car and be gone in an hour. Not anymore though.
For the last 15 years I've concentrated on making myself as indispensable as possible in an industry that should survive nearly any economic depression (diesel mechanic). Then I got wind of peak oil & for that reason I moved into public transportation. I figure when people can't afford to drive their hummers, they won't be laying off bus mechanics
Great video, Mobility is always good. I have a bugout bag (water filter, first aid, food, fire, weapons, etc) but I do plan to hold my ground. I feel secure with family and friends at one location. You must know someone with simiiar attributes (property, water, food)? The silver is great as well, but hard to trasnsport. I have buried some of mine in locations. I can always come back if need be and loved ones know where it is. I may sound a little nuts, but I figure plan for the worst
Yeah... I have been debating on whether to get a motorcycle. I originally was going to buy some land and start building, but I don't think I'll have time/money to bring it all together in time. So mobile living is looking more and more advantageous.
ah yessss... dreams of a 20 something ...

I have been wanting to do this over the past year... however, I'm not sure where to start. What would you recommend as far as literature, or webites?

MOBILE: adaptive; ever-embracing change; risk; self-reliance; open-minded; adventure; growth; acceptance; socially diverse; abundance oriented; seeker; uncertain..... spiritually rich.
MATERIAL WEALTH ACCUMULATION: rooted; secure; safe; grounded; connected; linear; directed; scarcity oriented; established; predictable; certain.... materially wealthy
carefulcarpenter 2 years ago
I like what you said here.
I hope people take note of the inverse relationship between abundance/mobile lifestyle and scarcity/material wealth lifestyle.

Exactly, I've been dreaming about this for the last year. For the time being I'm stuck with stuff! I just wanna cut and run for sure.

Honestly, I wish you had sent me a private message if you felt so compelled to ask this question.
However, since I believe in free speech and since it isn't necessarily disrespectful towards me, I won't remove it.
And the answer is yes.
