i love how each of her heroines exhibit sorrow according to their character. dramatic marianne in the rain, elinor hiding away on her own, catherine innocently crying, proud emma, despondent lizzy, resigned fanny & the long suffering anne. it's beautiful.
Where on earth do you all who do those compilations get the video footage to work with??? There are plenty of clips from all the Jane Austen movies here on YouTube, but I don't see anyway to download them... I'd really like to know cuz I want to make a compilation of my own! Thanks
love the end, it gave me the chills (since it's like a metaphor or a representation or something like that, can't think of the right word right now but you probably get my jist), and the video is so lovely, makes me want to cry...so thanks!!!
Awesome tribute.. Truly Jane Austen lives forever in each heroine and each day passing. I can almost reach out and touch Jane Austen as she lives within the hearts of so many admirers.
What a lovely, enjoyable video. Of course I love Rufus Wainwright's reading of the Leonard Cohen song, and I love Jane Austen -- in print, on screen. The irony here, though, is that this focuses on the suffering in her novels, when she always offers the reader emotional fulfillment of one sort or another at the conclusion of her novels.
oh wow this is the perfect mash up of austen films! i am especially pleased with the clip at the end from becoming jane; it works seamlessly with the other bits, kind of like "this is where it all began" kinda thing :)
Beautifully done and this version of the song is gorgeous. Great job! This is definitely a 5-star video (wish youtube would bring that back), but I did Like and Favorite this. :-)
watched over and over again , love to listen to this song, i heared many versions of it , but this is a great one
100000000 stars for uploding *____*
are all of janes books made to films? i've watched every i could find , but i dont know al the english titles ( cause im from germany) so its a bit dificult to find the ones who are a bit fewer popular , so does anyone have a playlist with all movies or something? that would be very kind :)
Oh it´s funny! When I wached this vid, I thought: Hey she should have used a scene frome "Becoming Jane" at the end.
And then there was this writing scene in the end. But you don´t have the movie in your list. So I´m confused. Was it really Anne Heatherway as Jane at the end, or am I going to become senile?
Oh my gosh, I must add, there was so much subtly! I love how the line "all I ever learned from love was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you" was for Colonel Brandon and Willoughby! A reference to their duel! Brilliant! Very subtle, very ingenuous!
I have a question. From this video it seems liek you've watched pretty much all of the Austen movies. I've seen Sense and Sensibility, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, and the older Persuasion (with Amanda Root). But I'm curious if the other movies--Northanger, the other Persuasion, whatever else you had in there haha--are any good. I love the Jane Austen books so I'm picky. Thought I would ask your advice
@invaderzooky Well, I believe it's a question of taste really, but IMO Northanger Abbey (the 2007 version) is really great and entertaining, just the perfect adaptation; the new Persuasion is a bit modern but also lovely, however some things aren't entirely true to the novel. The Mansfield Park's (1999 and 2006) are both changed in some way, for instance the 1999 adds a lot from Austen's life and the 2006's Fanny was a bit miscast, I think. The Emma miniseries (1996) is very well made.
Persuasion (1995 and 2007 BBC series); Northanger Abbey (2007 version and an older one); Sense and Sensibility (the movie with kate wislet and the 2007 BBC series); Mansfield Park (2007 BBC serie)...if i miss someone, somebody help me!!
All of then are in youtube, you should see!! Will never regret!!!
I think it was brilliant how you ended the video with Jane sitting and writing her stories. Really brought the video down to reality very nicely. I like how it showed all the melancholia in her books matching how she felt in her real life. Great job!
I love so much that you ended this with a shot of Jane writing from Becoming Jane. That was just the perfect ending! I also love that you included so many versions of her stories -- this was really very well done!
A lovely video!! This song is absolutely wonderful and I have only learned to appreciate the lyrics about a month ago. Leonard Cohen did an outstanding job with writing this song and I love the versions from some other artists. Your perioddrama clips matched perfectly with the lyrics and it is really melancholic and touching. Just awesome!! 5* and in my faves. Keep up the great work!
I love this song and you chose excellent clips! They really show the sadness and longing in Austen, and also the depths of the characters. Fantastic! :)
Thank you very much! This is exactly what I wanted to express - sadness, longing and the wonderful characters. I'm very happy that you liked this video so much! :)
I LOVED this video! Also Rufus, but I like the Leonard Cohen version better - deeper and more affecting. And what a tribute this is to British costume drama - lovely!
Thank you for the lovely comment! I agree - Leonard Cohen is amazing and his version is great. But I liked this one by Rufus as well and it suited the piano sequences, that's why I used it. And British period drama is my obsession - I adore it!
Thanks! I know Jeff's version and I agree - it's really awesome! But I used this one because of the piano - I wanted to use some scenes with the girls playing piano and the music had to be fitting.

I feel like this video should be shown in an English class studying Jane Austen's works. It really focuses well on the melancholia in the book!
Is there actually a genius of a (high) school that studies Austen's works as a whole?
