  • This is such a great video! So beautiful :)

  • i love jane austen's stories so much! excellent song choice!!!

  • i love how each of her heroines exhibit sorrow according to their character. dramatic marianne in the rain, elinor hiding away on her own, catherine innocently crying, proud emma, despondent lizzy, resigned fanny & the long suffering anne. it's beautiful.

  • @KatiB88 true!!

  • What was the movie at 2:34 ?

  • what film is with kate winslet and snape from harry potter :P ? (sorry i dont know his name)

  • @MegaMagicStars sense & sensibility.

  • That was soooooooooooooooooo beautiful!! Fantastic job! Thank you!

  • Where on earth do you all who do those compilations get the video footage to work with??? There are plenty of clips from all the Jane Austen movies here on YouTube, but I don't see anyway to download them... I'd really like to know cuz I want to make a compilation of my own! Thanks

  • How pretty! Thank you for this<3

  • Could you please tell me who is the blond actor in the very beginning? Thank you!

  • @dmitriylosev It's Rupert Penry-Jones. :)

  • hallelujahbutton . com

  • First time listening to this cover, and loving it! Video was put together nicely as well :D

  • Beautiful, touching..Simply Loving it

  • Fabulous video... I'm a bit surprised to see one or two movies that I haven't watch in there.

  • well done! thank you for sharing it!

  • I congratulate you on your production!

  • Thank you so much! That was absolutely beautiful! One of my favorite songs, one of my favorite authors...stunning!

  • breathtaking video made!!!!

  • This is an amazing video. Thank you. It's fantastic!

  • Love it! <33 but I missed the latest "Emma" with Gwyneth Paltrow..

  • Love hurts - all those longing looks!

  • love the end, it gave me the chills (since it's like a metaphor or a representation or something like that, can't think of the right word right now but you probably get my jist), and the video is so lovely, makes me want to cry...so thanks!!!

    (that's actually a good thing)!!

  • Awesome tribute.. Truly Jane Austen lives forever in each heroine and each day passing. I can almost reach out and touch Jane Austen as she lives within the hearts of so many admirers.

  • What a lovely, enjoyable video. Of course I love Rufus Wainwright's reading of the Leonard Cohen song, and I love Jane Austen -- in print, on screen. The irony here, though, is that this focuses on the suffering in her novels, when she always offers the reader emotional fulfillment of one sort or another at the conclusion of her novels.

  • This was really well done! I love how you added the scene of Jane writing at the end. It was all beautiful. Well done :)

  • this shows beautifully what makes jane austens novels so special!!! MARVELLOUS VIDEO!!! :-)))

  • oh wow this is the perfect mash up of austen films! i am especially pleased with the clip at the end from becoming jane; it works seamlessly with the other bits, kind of like "this is where it all began" kinda thing :)

  • Hey=)

Great video and the music fits very well!

I love Jane Austen´s books and her amazing characters!<3

    Thank you for doing it!

  • You should redo this with the Gwyneth Emma and the new Emma...but I LOVE it! WELL DONE!

  • Beautifully done and this version of the song is gorgeous. Great job! This is definitely a 5-star video (wish youtube would bring that back), but I did Like and Favorite this. :-)

  • love the end!!! perfect wayt to end it!!! <3333

  • This video made me cry... I think my heart is yearning to fall hard into love even though I don't usually think about it conciously...

  • a great creation- song and stories.

    LOVE

  • absolutely wonderful - I cried the first time I watched it - love Austen and you did a great job of editing - to my favorites

  • actually, the song is by leanard cohen, but he picked rufus wainwright to sing it.

  • the best video i have ever seen... almost made me cry!!!!

  • Just FYI--This song is not by Rufus Wainwright. Along with hundreds of other artists, he did a cover of this song which is by Leonard Cohen.

  • I love this song and you have made a beautiful clip - well done you!

  • love this vid!

watched over and over again , love to listen to this song, i heared many versions of it , but this is a great one

    100000000 stars for uploding *____*

are all of janes books made to films? i've watched every i could find , but i dont know al the english titles ( cause im from germany) so its a bit dificult to find the ones who are a bit fewer popular , so does anyone have a playlist with all movies or something? that would be very kind :)

  • Oh it´s funny! When I wached this vid, I thought: Hey she should have used a scene frome "Becoming Jane" at the end.

And then there was this writing scene in the end. But you don´t have the movie in your list. So I´m confused. Was it really Anne Heatherway as Jane at the end, or am I going to become senile?

  • @TheGwynchan No, no, you're absolutely right about the "Becoming Jane" thing. I just forgot to add it to the list - silly me. :)

  • beautiful!

  • Oh my gosh, I must add, there was so much subtly! I love how the line "all I ever learned from love was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you" was for Colonel Brandon and Willoughby! A reference to their duel! Brilliant! Very subtle, very ingenuous!

  • That was fantastic! Perfect, beautifully edited!

I have a question. From this video it seems liek you've watched pretty much all of the Austen movies. I've seen Sense and Sensibility, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, and the older Persuasion (with Amanda Root). But I'm curious if the other movies--Northanger, the other Persuasion, whatever else you had in there haha--are any good. I love the Jane Austen books so I'm picky. Thought I would ask your advice

  • @invaderzooky Well, I believe it's a question of taste really, but IMO Northanger Abbey (the 2007 version) is really great and entertaining, just the perfect adaptation; the new Persuasion is a bit modern but also lovely, however some things aren't entirely true to the novel. The Mansfield Park's (1999 and 2006) are both changed in some way, for instance the 1999 adds a lot from Austen's life and the 2006's Fanny was a bit miscast, I think. The Emma miniseries (1996) is very well made.

  • Incredible incredible.... It´s just perfect! :D

  • Beautiful & powerful song that you have embedded in my spirit even deeper by your exquisite and fitting tribute

    Magnificent!

  • I love this song version and I love Jane Austen...perfect combo for me!

    Great job.

  • I love this!

  • Wonderfully put together. The song goes well too.

  • i love love love your video !!!

  • Persuasion (1995 and 2007 BBC series); Northanger Abbey (2007 version and an older one); Sense and Sensibility (the movie with kate wislet and the 2007 BBC series); Mansfield Park (2007 BBC serie)...if i miss someone, somebody help me!!

All of then are in youtube, you should see!! Will never regret!!!

  • I know only : Pride And Prejudice, Emma, Becaming Jane But i dont know the rest, can someone tell me the name of the movies please?

  • perusasion, northanger abbey, sense and sensiblity and mansfield park

  • It´s nice. Well done. The song is good for this video

  • This is AMAZING!!!!

I feel like this video should be shown in an English class studying Jane Austen's works. It really focuses well on the melancholia in the book!

Is there actually a genius of a (high) school that studies Austen's works as a whole?

In my Grade 12 class we only had THREE weeks on Pride and Predujice... I don't know about you, but I find that wasn't enought.

  • amazing!!!!!!!!

i love jane austen and this song

    you made a brill video

    thankyou for putting it up

    x

  • 3:24 is Sense and Sensibility, BBC 2007

3:28 Mansfield Park of the same

  • what is 3:24 and 3:28 from?!

  • if sweetness has the power to kill this song will surely kill me....there r very few songs which keeps such an impression

  • I think it was brilliant how you ended the video with Jane sitting and writing her stories. Really brought the video down to reality very nicely. I like how it showed all the melancholia in her books matching how she felt in her real life. Great job!

  • i agree, absolutly perfect ending.

    wonderful video!

  • really beautifully done

  • I love so much that you ended this with a shot of Jane writing from Becoming Jane. That was just the perfect ending! I also love that you included so many versions of her stories -- this was really very well done!

  • Absolutely beautiful! It strangely enough fits in with most of Austen's classics, so I'm glad you thought of doing this

  • Lovely <Great Song Too!

  • I love it!

  • emo face. Loved it! There is so much sadness in all of her stories, that it would just be unbearable if they didn't all end with happy endings.

  • what is 2:10 from? Northanger Abbey?

  • 2:09 is Northanger Abbey (Felicity King-Catherine Morland)- 2:10 is Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley-Elizabeth Bennet)

  • Great job, thank you !

  • That was quite good! It fit perfectly with the heartbreak in Jane Austen, I love it!

  • Thanks a lot! :)

  • A lovely video!! This song is absolutely wonderful and I have only learned to appreciate the lyrics about a month ago. Leonard Cohen did an outstanding job with writing this song and I love the versions from some other artists. Your perioddrama clips matched perfectly with the lyrics and it is really melancholic and touching. Just awesome!! 5* and in my faves. Keep up the great work!

  • Thank you very much for this amazing comment! You're absolutely right about the song - it's awesome and it's one of my all-time favorites. :)

And sorry that I'm replying to your comment so late! :(

  • i love this song:)

    perfect job honey:D

  • Thanks! :)

  • Lovely video! 5*

  • Thanks for the nice comment! :)

  • I love this song and you chose excellent clips! They really show the sadness and longing in Austen, and also the depths of the characters. Fantastic! :)

  • Thank you very much! This is exactly what I wanted to express - sadness, longing and the wonderful characters. I'm very happy that you liked this video so much! :)

  • Beautiful! Awesome song. Didn't Jeff Buckley write it?

  • Thank you for the lovely comment! Actually, it was Leonard Cohen who wrote the song, but it's so popular that many singers have covered it.

  • OH this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Fav'd this video and the song is wonderful and I thank you!!

    your friend,

    Ladyknight

  • Thank you very much, Ladyknight! I really appreciate your lovely comments! :)

  • Truly beautiful.

  • Thank you, Anne! :)

  • Great vid,Kathy! 5/5 and favorited!

  • Thanks! Very very happy you liked it! :)

  • I LOVED this video! Also Rufus, but I like the Leonard Cohen version better - deeper and more affecting. And what a tribute this is to British costume drama - lovely!

  • Thank you for the lovely comment! I agree - Leonard Cohen is amazing and his version is great. But I liked this one by Rufus as well and it suited the piano sequences, that's why I used it. And British period drama is my obsession - I adore it!

  • i really like your into with the Austen women playing the piano :) this was really beautiful!

  • Thank you very much! It has something melancholic in it when someone plays piano, really...

  • Nice video. I love this song, but I prefer the version sung by Jeff Buckley.

  • Thanks! I know Jeff's version and I agree - it's really awesome! But I used this one because of the piano - I wanted to use some scenes with the girls playing piano and the music had to be fitting.

  • Really lovely video thanks for sharing it!

  • Thank you very much! :)

  • This is really beautiful! So many clips!! A great period drama montage, I wish I could call it my own ;) Very lovely!!

  • Thank you, Zosia! I especially appreciate your opinion because you have so much experience with video-making. I'm soooo happy you like it! :)))

  • That was very good.

  • Thanks! :)

  • Such a sweet and touching vid! 5 stars and fav:)

  • Thank you very much! :D

  • Thank you. The song is really very beautiful! And represents the spirit of JO stories. Sad moments but happy end!

  • Thank you for the lovely comment! O love this song, too, and I'm very glad you like the vid! :)
