It's like this: the young are still educated for college prep and then they are expected to pay through horrible long-term loan arrangements to pay for their college educations and after they graduate they have to hear how the education they just got is no longer needed in the workplace. WHO should pay? The students, the government or the stinkin' rotten corporations who make phony demands to flood a workplace so they can exploit it with lesser pay and benefits?

Yyyyeah, but my problem with that is accountability.

I owe the government $60k due to education loans, and I knew what I was doing each time I signed a promissory note. Not once have I heard that the education I worked for is "not needed" in the workplace. I know we're in an employment crisis, but people with degrees still have the advantage.

My answer to corporate bullshit is self-employment. It's not for everyone, but I don't feel comfortable blaming corporations for me having loan debt.

Whether a business collects the tax or not, the state still will pro-rate it. Yea, I wrestled over this but you apparently fail to recognize the first amendment enumerated in the U.S. Constitution, and that includes a ban on taxes of newspapers because you cannot turn a right into a privilege and tax it. And if you interrupt financial operations with tax levies, then you have violated that newspaper's rights. The government does NOT have limitless powers.

The federal government is fair! Actually, it is a first amendment cause, and has little to do with taxation without representation. I think what I meant to say is double taxation or duplicate taxation wherein the costs are absorbed ultimately by the consumer, yet there is no credit or the benefit of deduction for having paid the excessive tax.

This was NOT a matter of cheating. I reported every penny I owed to the state of New Mexico. I just did NOT pay it. I revolted. I DID NOT CHEAT! Further, I paid more than $23,500 to rid myself of the tax liens on my pursuit of happiness and now they stated again to hound me over the $3,500 I still owe, which I've been paying off monthly. Further, today the ACLU returned my call and will be sending me a complaint form. Then they will decide if my case merits a looksee.

Hi, Dorothy, I know, so I ended up paying $23,000 or 85% of the total due and they agreed to remove all liens, leaving me the $4,000 balance to pay without further penalty and interest. Question is: does my case fall under an infringement of a free press? I don't think anyone has challenged the NM law in any court and if I were to do so I would go to the US district court for remedy. Or start something to change the state law. What do you think?
