I am not sure if its me...I am using massive yarn, using 15 needles, and 10 for the double point. My cables are so tight, it feels like a knot. Being a guy, I tend to knit tight; but even when I loosen up my grip; it still ends up like a monkey-fist knot. Am I using unmatched needles, or is my grip still too tight?
@notoncemoreagain Well, I would suggest just knitting. Just knit every row for an entire ball of yarn and practice hold them very loose and comfortably. By the end you'll have a scarf and would be better at holding your project while working on it.
For tight cables, practice works very well. I always had a hole in the side of my cables when I started and now I've gotten that fixed up. Try using a size 15 double pointed needle too. Maybe you're tightening the stitch without realizing it.
@notoncemoreagain Make sure you also continue the cable, when it starts looking weird just keep going. It could just be looking weird at the start of the cable from crossing over. I hope I helped some what. If you need any more help please feel free to ask again.
hi, thanks! at last, i can do a cable! knitting along with you in these 2 vids really helped me to understand cable. i have been so scared of it for so long. soooo silly! I am very happy.
Just like everyone else has said, this was a very helpful video series. I've been searching for a complete cable video, and yours gave me the confidence to finally try them. Thank you.
ah, this video was so helpful! :D i understand cable knitting now! thanks so much!
but i have a question, how do i make for more space on the sides inbetween the border stitch and the cable itself? for example, i'd like a two stitch border, perhaps maybe like 5 stitches on either side of the cable, and the cable itself is about 8 stitches. is there a certain way to knit it so that the cable stands out from the background?
hi! i love the ur videos there super helpful! but i have a question on this one, do you absolutely have to have the two sided needles? (lol i forget what they were called but you know what i mean :P) i only have straight needles, thanks!
No. You do not have to use double pointed needles. I just used them for the sake of filming. Straight needles tend to get in the way when I'm trying to stay in camera. For cables you can use any needle. Straights, double point, circular, any needle for your project will work.
mine came a little wierd LOL but im still practicing!!! and i did it with multi color yarn so i bet that had to do with the wierd part!!! HEY GREAT VID!!! U EXPLAINED IT REALLY WELL!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!
BTW: DO U KNOW HOW TO DO THE JERSEY STITCH!¿?¿?CUZ I HEARD IT WAS KIND OF HARD BUT REALLY PRETTY!!
No I've never heard of the Jersey Stitch. Do you happen to have a website that shows this stitch? If you do, please send the link to me and I'll see if I can make a video for you.
This video (Parts one and two) was the best video on how to do cables that I could find. I'm very new to knitting and was making just a simple pot holder as my first project. I wanted to get "fancy" though and try a cable on one side of it. My first attempt failed miserably because none of the videos I was finding was as thorough as this one! Start to finish was exactly what I needed! Now I've got it. :-D Thanks so much!
That was great!! Thank you so much! Now I can do it too! You explain it very well an because you showed it without any stops, there is no confusion at all!!!
I have tried cable braid with many instructions but failed.
This is very useful to learn it !!!
I finally mastered it with your detailed instruction~ :)
Thank you so much again! :)

@PanhiaJerry When you reach your desired length, just bind off in the same pattern of knits and purls.
