I had a private laugh to myself as in American english we like mixing up expressions from other languages into a hodge-podge of expressions that would probably be shameful to anyone truly familiar with the various source languages from which the expressions have been stolen. For example, the New York Times recently made a slight technical error in identifying one of the hordes of ponies on the show and was inundated with protests until they printed a correction. There's also the infamous "Is this name a 'My Little Pony' character or 60s porn star stage name?" game.
