Antony describes an epilepsy attack with such accuracy, so detailed but without being offensive and full of emotion. It's just perfection. I think we -people who have no idea how it feels to have an epilespy attack- will never get closer to this felling than this song.
I love this Video! Artistic expression of what a Tonic Clonic seizure can be, aura and all. I think it's retarded that this video has been age restricted! It's Dance!!! It's art, and too many people put TOO MUCH sexual innuendo into the beauty that is this video. Not to mention the Pagan aspects this video portrays...
I love it but most people are just too closed minded!

@s1kb45trd I thought that this was the lyric too, but upon further reflection I think the lyric may be "cut me in quadrants, leave me in the quarter," which is even more genius!
Wow this is amazing it's great to see the wonderful paintings of artist Tino Rodriguez and Virgo Paraiso come to life they did an amazing job at creating the magic forest and those masks are wonderful too and of course Antony looks divine : ) yay!!!
@whatsabecca Wow...thats the most amazingly stupid thing I've heard someone say in quite a while....a very...very long while. Although I am entertained by how ignorant some people are...so please write back with an angry rambling message. Preferably one in which you mention what your Idea of 'good' music is, so that I, and everyone else can laugh and be entertained by your feeble ideas of what constitutes your list of musical favorites.
This illustrates perfectly what seizures can be like when you have epilepsi in the frontal part of the brain (Suddenly forgot the correct name for it, sorry)
@ stangesque: try looking for the positive. it's obvious by your grammar that you weren't utilizing school other than to dwell in a pity party. it's much easier to be forgiven for ignorance than stupidity! arrogant? yes! it sounds that way. I say this because I've been there and have been working through it. hopefully I'll keep working and learning the rest of my life.
Strange that so many have interpreted the title as "Epilepsy is like dancing" or "Epilepsy is the same thing as dancing". To me it has always meant that epilepsy is a creature who is dancing - a monster if you will. Though there's no judgement here, just description. Reminded me of a line from the letters of Dostoevsky - the Russian novelist who was an epileptic. "Some attacks of the illness are ecstatic", he said. This video seems to express a thought/feeling/experience a bit similar.
Surprisingly (?), I rather feel fear, than astonishment. It's just that I envy those, who can compare their seizures to a dance of colourful deers (?) mooses(?). I'm not even certain what they are.
Waking up alone in the street, without a deer ahead, with a shattering headake doesn't make me smile at all.
Waking up with people around is even worse though;D
Greetings to all EPIs and Antony and the Johnsons!
"...and I'm finding my rhythm as I twist in the snow..." The words alone paint a heartwrenching picture, but if that was not enough, the compelling and beautiful arrangement make it that much more overwhelming. Antony is an artist in every sense of the word.
I hear there's been controversy over this video / song stirred up by actual epileptics. I'd just like to say you're complete idiots and missing the point. I'm gay and if I took every reference to it in music and media literally I'd never leave the house. Why are so many people determined to be offended?
Simply haunting! I think he handled the subject matter as tastefully as it could be handled. I don't think he is trying to say that seizures are fun but that otherworld feeling that comes with it. The girl laying on the ground does not look like she is having fun.
To all those with or without epilepsy who are trashing this video, calling it offensive or vile or what have you:
Have you ever heard of the word metaphorical?
Also, the lyrics do not imply that having a seizure is fun, magical, or any of the ignorant things you have a assumed because of the (again) metaphorical video.

lol yes alot of people are smart but i have met people who decided not to be my friend anymore because they thought something might happen to them if i have a seizure not really friends are they?

OK... so I met this band a few weeks ago, liked Antony's voice and all... then I heard this song. I felt kinda bad listening to it, though I tried to see the artistic side of it, but after watching this video, all I can say is that it's sick. I cannot see art in a person having a seizure and suffering, even if in this video it is shown like it can be a beautiful thing. It's not. Seeing all those positive comments reminds me of that famous toilet or w/e that people considered art some time ago.
@anonymus88 You ignorant fool. That famous toilet is ''Fountain'', a 1917 work by Marcel Duchamp. And it is considered great art. Duchamp is one of the fathers of modern art. Get some education.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That's why I said "toilet or whatever", miss. And I made this comparison because it was not beautiful or interesting at all and there was a bunch of people who thought that was the best thing ever done. To me, that's not art, just like this video. And please, some respect. I gave my opinion without offending anyone, and so should you. I am not ignorant for not knowing details about something that doesn't interest me, it was a COMPARISON based on my OPINION. Get some respect for other's opinion.
Ok, what ever, I'm deleting my offensive reply. But you are ignorant. It's ok to say that I don't like this or that, but art isn't about liking or disliking or your saying that the urinal isn't art. It's about idea behind that act that Duchamp did.
The idea behind Duchamps ''Fountain'' is brilliant. And if you don't get it, it's your lose. Nobody cares if you don't consider it art. Objectively, it's brilliant art. Art isn't about opinions. Get over it. Your opinion is stupid and the problem with the world today is that we respect to much of stupid opinions.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I don't care if you think it's art or not, or if it's considered great or not. To ME, it's still meaningless, and it IS about opinions. I'm not going to discuss this with a person that cannot accept or respect that there are ways of seeing things. And you don't even know me, you can't call me ignorant for not liking an urinal ¬¬ That's actually the funniest thing I read this week. None of this changed my opinion about the video, the urinal or anything. I'm sure a lot of people think like I do
Whoha, lots of offended people with epilepsy...ever heard of metaphores? And if you listen to the text you can't really say it's glorifying the condition. It's the difference between the words and how Antony softly sings it that makes it interesting.
And I'm tired of people who think that just becouse you have a disease it's ok to be offended by the smallest thing, "couse I'm sick and everyone should know how hard it is!" I'm m.depressive myself and would never be offended by the "emo-song"..
This actually made me cry, that's how exquisite Mr Hegarty's music is (& the phantasmagorical visuals added not a small amount to the affect as well) ~ (•8-D}

An inadequate video?? oh my god, breast, painted human breast¡¡¡ such an inadequate thing¡¡ please youtube, hide the human breast and show the AK-47, hail to the moral developement of our childs¡¡¡
I believe this is a different kind of epilepsy (which does exist) called "frontal lobe epilepsy". Sometimes people don't know it's happening to them sometimes, and you can get inspiration from what you see, or something like that. That would explain the lady's grin at the end of the video.
I can see how this can be offensive but I think it's tasteful and beautifully done. I like "prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faun" also.
Une des plus belles chansons qu'il m'ait été donné d'entendre... Par contre le clip vidéo me met vraiment mal à l'aise, j'espère ne pas avoir les images en tête à la prochaine écoute de l'album.
let's not be so picky... if you read the post by yidneth it may have some grounding in reality but hey - it's artistic and a video clip - does it hurt you to create or see creativity?
I guess it's inspired in temporal lobe epilepsy, it's a special kind of epilepsy that sometimes causes this daydreams... I have it so I know a bit about it, as a musician myself it's been a source of inspiration for me too
Antony describes an epilepsy attack with such accuracy, so detailed but without being offensive and full of emotion. It's just perfection. I think we -people who have no idea how it feels to have an epilespy attack- will never get closer to this felling than this song.

Connecting epilepsy (a moment of losing consciousness) with dreaming, dancing - creating of it an artistic impression is misunderstanding.

let's not be so picky... if you read the post by yidneth it may have some grounding in reality but hey - it's artistic and a video clip - does it hurt you to create or see creativity?

I guess it's inspired in temporal lobe epilepsy, it's a special kind of epilepsy that sometimes causes this daydreams... I have it so I know a bit about it, as a musician myself it's been a source of inspiration for me too
