Saw this film for the first time today on Channel 4, and knew that I would find this lovely song on wonderful Youtube. Thank you for doing all the work necessary for me to enjoy. I have pressed 'replay' approx six times already.
I had never heard of Tift Merritt but heard her on "New in Town" with Rene Zellweger, on TV. I'd be willing to watch the whole movie again just to hear this song. I like Rene Zellweger's quirky charm and "Another Country" was perfect for this scene. Now I am hunting for more Tift Merritt music!

you know the guy that made the wizard of oz actually had a message in the movie. He was trying to tell us that we are all under mind control from the goverment. If you watch the movie knowing this you see it . I was surprised when I watch it knowing this. He focuses on words like marvel. as in marvel comic's.And when the witch is killed the spell is broken. And the Oz trying to act all bad and they are scared until they see it's just one man he is referring to the goverment. Brain wash. love all
I just watched this movie also. It is so real . With America economy and how it shows how the greedy really are I thought it was Natalie Merchant , she sounds alot like her. I never even heard of this singer . Thanks for putting it on. I wanted to buy this song after hearing it in the movie.You know in the movie when they refer to them as monkey's they are actually talking about the monkey's in the wizard of OZ that worked for the witch.
@SidsCardShop I thought this song was great as well. I really liked the movie too. You did an excellent job... and this comes from a regular football loving, but a very romantic male even more.
@pepjrp Thank you for the compliment. In this age of everyone routinely posting unedited snippets from their cell phones, few know or care how tedious it can be to create a syncronized video such as this. The finished product is rewarding in itself, but it really helps when someone notices.

Hey, I too love this movie..just watched it for the 3rd time, it's really nice. I had to find out who this song was by, it grabbed my heart.. should've known it was Tift Merritt, I came across her last year, her song 'Broken'.. I just Adore that song and now this song too. I agree with ItsUp2Us' comment below, Tift Merritt will surely be recognized as one of the best songwriters of this generation, sure! As for Renee Z, Great, and those shoes at the end.. As Leonard Cohen was the true voice of my generation, Tift Merrit, I am certain, will eventually be recognized as the true voice of today's. There aren't that many artists that can so completely catch the heart and soul of an era.
We moved to Minnesota in October from Houston TX and this movie reminds me of us. My husband came up here for work. Love the song thanks for posting.
I don't know anything about this film, but I just love this song. I'm gettin wed soon and although this wont be our first dance, I gunna make sure it's played right at the end of the night. Just adore Tift Merrits voice.

A funny personal thing that came out of this is that I was mesmerized by the "slice" shot of her high heels flashing by, and, whereas my only opinion before was that such things are nothing but a detriment to a woman's health, I now understand the attraction. Cinematography is a powerful thing.
