To Billy, Albert, Harry, and Mike lost somewhere in Belgium & France respectively and to my grandfathers who came through, one seeing active service in WW2
i went to all those places, omg i found my relitives there , at that german lamarck grave yard and at the gate ypres on the wall , and they both were on diffrent sides, 1 from ireland and 1 from hungary, so sad, to see them there
It's always weird going to these things- I recently went to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp near Berlin and it's a really odd feeling. Good video btw. (Guess who as well!)

From the places you went, it looks very much like the itinerary of the Leger "All quiet on the Western Front" tour.
Was it?
I did that one, my guide was a historian called Paul Reed (author of Walking the Somme). Absolutely brilliant tour but very moving too.
It stayed with me for a long time.
What really drives home the scale of loss is the cemetaries, so so many of them.
Our party found a live shell in the sunken lane below Hawthorne redoubt mine crater.

Very moving, more people should go to Ypres and see for themselves.
