  • that is hilarious

  • bow wow zippy yo zippy yay

  • What a dog!!!!!

  • @YY4Me133 better than these dogs being on the street where they could be harmed by cars or sick people wanting to hurt animals. They will get walked reguarly and they have a field to roam in during the day. You have a point but this is the lesser of 2 evils. I got my last dog from my local shelter and would encourage everyone to do the same.

  • I love Red so much. He's smart and rascal enough to win my heart. I'm so glad he found a home and I wish they will love him forever. He will bring his owners a lot of happiness and I hope they do the same for him.

  • Brits love their CCTV :)

  • Those poor dogs. It's like they're in prison. Dogs, like humans, are social animals. If they get along, and it seems that many of them do, they shouldn't be isolated in separate cells. It looks like at least two dogs were housed together. All of the dogs that get along should be allowed to share a space. That's the least that could be done for them since they're there through no fault of their own.

  • Amazingly intelligent greyhound. Usually they are really stupid.

  • @Beatnikzombie Well, they're usually too lazy to work things out! I have a fab greyhound - retired racer. But he wouldn't have the patience to do this, or think about the other dogs.

  • @wnesbitt1 Mine is so lazy and stupid that she wouldn't get out if another dog let her out. But she's beautiful and sweet.

  • Too funny....what a dog!

  • Smart doggie glad he was adopted:)

  • That's the kennel owner having a larf on you. Battersea is a very prestigious home known world wide. He got an adopted home after that, didn't he. It just looked a little contrived to this 'ole cynic!!!

  • This is a wonderful video!!! I just LOVE it!!! Too bad the party had to end. poor babies must miss him so much! :O)

  • Dogs just want to have fun! Congratulations to Red on finding a loving forever home.

  • We have one of those at our house! He can open all the doors in the house deadbolts and all.We have given up on locking him in.:)

  • Oh Red, you were just bad to the bone.

  • This is so cool, you have to watch it.And some people say,it's only a dog.I hate to tell people that animals are smarter than people that's why they were here when we got here.We are living on their planet,we need to respect it.

  • Every dog has his day, for sure! I hope he's found a great home with great people - and isn't causing too many more wild antics where he is!

  • awesome

  • Awwwwww, they should have adopted his girl friend too!

  • I wouldve remixed this with "who let the dogs out"

  • this video is sad as fuck. i hope many people got to see this on tv and it made them think about the way they see/treat ANIMALS.

dogs are locked up in places like that because people buy from breeders.

  • @carnivorecrusher Are you serious? Because people buy from breeders? It's not the breeders fault that the owners can't look after the poor dog. You comment is not fair on breeders at all. I have 2 "rescue" dogs from the Lost Dogs Home in Melbourne, Australia. My next one is going to be from a Rottweiler breeder. Because I want a puppy. After that I am back to buying from the Lost Dogs home. But blame should go to puppy farms, the shops that sell them and the idiots that buy them.

  • @madmaxrules I think carnivorecrusher probably means BYB (back yard breeders) and puppy mills (mass breeders), which causes overpopulation and are both irresponsible breeders. There are responsible breeders here in the US, but they do not mass breed them or sell 'under the table' for cash. Which is one reason puppy mills are being shut down here in the US, along with BYB who don't have the intelligence to properly breed. Thanks for adopting from the Lost Dogs Home too.

  • @nascarusa1 Are you kidding me? Do you not know the Amish no longer grow crops because they found puppy milling to be far more lucrative?

  • @n2wishinn Am I kidding you? What are you talking about? Yes I know the Amish are some of the worst puppy millers around. Quick cash, lots of it and no work. People could quit breeding dogs for the next ten years and we still couldn't find homes for all the dogs who are PTS daily in the USA.

  • Comment removed

  • @n2wishinn A notorious puppy miller from here, Kathy Bauck was put out of business due to constant pressure and people turning her in for probation violations. She permanently lost her license along with her daughter and husband. She had about 1200 dogs. Sheriff's deputies confiscated a 'killing box' hooked up to her ATV when she was on probation. This is the second miller shut down here in MN that I know of and at least one in ND. You must be in Ohio? or close since you have Amish millers?

  • @nascarusa1 People who prey on the vulnerable deserve life in a cage. I grew up in Ohio-that's why I know about it. I live in Carson City Nevada now where I specialize in akita rescue. :) Bless your heart!

  • @madmaxrules yes, im totally serious. when people breed dogs people will buy them, too many of those people will decide they no longer want the dog.

there are WAY too many dogs in shelters at the moment, and way too many (one is too many) that are killed on a daily basis because homes cannot be found. stop the breeding, rehome the "unwanted".

  • they obviously needed more playtime together!

  • Amazing! Dogs are so intelligent. And they are good buddies also. An investigator of dogs behavior wrote that the thing dogs loved the most was to be with other dogs, more than food. I love the video!

  • I have a 4 year old rescue lurcher ... and he is a proper little Houdini too! Naughtiness is in the lurcher genes, it includes counter surfing, bin raiding and such ;)

  • My Weimaraner could do this, it's not that uncommon.

  • they should have adopted his girlfriend too!

  • Woof!

  • I love this dog.

  • I've never heard of a lurcher dog. Where do they originate from? Love this video by the way, had me laughing out loud so much, and Red is adorable, as all the dogs are. So happy Red has a new home, hope he is loved to bits.

  • @fluffybunny451 Originated in Ireland. They're actually very common. I live in Dublin and I had never heard of them either until I started working with rescues about a year back and now I come across atleast one a week. They're a lot like greyhounds. They're such sweet natured dogs. The very first dog I worked with on my first day working in a rescue was a lurcher who very badly abused, but she still had so much love to give us :)

  • @fluffybunny451 A lurcher is the result of crossing a greyhound (for speed) with, say, a sheepdog (for intelligence). The offspring is then used for catching hares and rabbits, the smarts and speed of both parents combined results in an animal of awesome capabilities. Widely bred and used in Ireland and the UK, not too sure about rest of world...

  • That dog

  • Top dog indeed!...and he knows how to party!

  • Lurchers are the absolute best! We had a wonderful RSPCA Lurcher..she had such character and sweet nature..she was not dissimilar to Red, colourwise, [she was red-fawn] and very good at door-opening.Round Victorian doorknobs flummoxed her, but she would rattle these with her snout to say ''please let me out!'' .Hope Red has a long and happy life..

  • Aaaw, bless. Lurchers are such lovely dogs.

  • I am not dismissing any GOOD undertakings they may do and I am sure they have some (low ranking) dedicated and loyal staff who love animals but I am positively certain they are left HEAPS of money a year and it should be spent better making provision to retain life than destroying it.

I would start by slashing the directors salary to £25,000 and when he quits (because of the reality of an average london wage) you would soon be able to find a dedicated, animal loving doer to fill the role

  • @sweetypie000 have you seen the reports on how much money battersea recieve in donations per year and how much they spend? - i have, they publish the figures in their end of year report, i dont know if its online but its printed in a leaflet

battersea need people who can run a multi-million pound a year generating charity, they cant have an animal lover who will just spend 100% of the money on the animals and then everything else just collapses around them, you need business minded people

  • @snowball1988 when I see directors and other ceo's salarys being reduced to the scale that it should be when working for a 'charity' then I'll give places like THBH a break. In the meantime though.....

There are many people out there who would even come out of retirement that are qualified to do the job and would not wish for renumeration but as I did mention the fat cats protect their jobs too well.

"Charity" should be just that. There is nothing noble or humane taking an excessive salary

    :)

  • @sweetypie000 the director is female btw, the point of the panorama program was to show people the grim reality of the situation and is a way of saying that they want to see a change in how our society treats dogs, they are not asking for more money and donations, they want less dogs need their help - which is the point that some people are missing, in an ideal world battersea dogs home would not exist... also its the aggressive dogs that are dangerous that get put down mostly not all of them

  • @snowball1988 1 last thing, type in battersea annual report and click on the 'guidestar' link that comes up for a report on their total income and expendature for the year

  • @snowball1988 Animals in this world will only have better lives by limiting their numbers and who can breed them. Yes, a cull unfortunately , but not through euthanasia but by a gradual thinning of the population until a point where a person is only allowed to 'own' a pet on the thorough understanding it will be taken care of as if it were a child and not a wrapper from a microwave meal. I'd make that law.

"aggressive dogs" no. it's the society that exists that has no place for their kind

  • @sweetypie000 People who own aggressive dogs make me sick

  • but if the door was locked then it could not be opened from the inside without the key.... its is clever how he lets out all the other dogs out though... it shows that dogs care about others and arn't selfish...

  • i don't understand how, as the news recently tells us, so many dogs and cats at Battersea Dogs Home are being put to sleep

I was under the imnpression they were looked after at the Home for life there or until someone takes them as a pet.

I say this because I personally know of at LEAST 3 people that have left their entire estate worth MILLIONS to Battersea Dogs Home and the intention behind it was to preserve and better their lives - NOT DESTROY THEM

    Shame on Battersea

  • @sweetypie000 battersea pick up other people's problems - they dont have unlimited space to keep all the nations problems do they? people need to be responsible to reduce the number of dogs ending up at battersea, its not their fault that its a growing problem... you really have no idea do you..? shame on battersea? they do a lot more than you do.... what esactly do you suggest battersea should do then? they get no govenment funding yet clean up society's problems....

  • @snowball1988 Yes, shame on Battersea absolutely. They have made a FORTUNE every single year. They can do better than destroying dogs. They should offer totally FREE neutering to all cat and dog owners. The home can afford it they earn a mint. The only people not earning are the low-earning bottom level staff who are literally in the shit everyday.

At least the RSPCA offer free neutering for bull terriers (but this is of course a move to eradicate them)

TBDH is a business like the rest :(

  • I'm so happy Red found his forever home. Too bad his girlfriend couldn't go with him! But he's so handsome, I bet he found a new love in no time! Lots a personality that one! Remember... SPAY & NEUTER!

  • He looks so much like my greyhound,Angelo and greys are indeed smart dogs:)

  • He looks so much like my greyhound,Angelo and greys are indeed smart dogs:)

  • WOW!!!! My Husky/Lab mix would always get out of her cage too!!! I even tried putting a small lock on it and she STILL managed to get out, AND the lock was still on the cage!!! Very intelligent dogs!!!

  • Love the dogs but hate that bald prick

  • it's : INTELLIGENT not INTELLEGENT

  • this made me laugh ;)

  • thats not good if they all get out as they could start breeding!

  • @snowball1988 I THINK, not 100% sure on this, but I THINK that most animals in cat & dog homes are fixed.. they are usually mongrels/cross breeds and so they fix them anyway *shrugs*

  • @snowball1988 . no they are up for adoption and they are nudered and spade.

  • @RPSHammond

    LOL! and it's ' Neutered' & 'Spayed'

  • @Phaedrax2. well done, seeing if anyone picked up on that ha ha. but come on these people made a mistake in the title of the film. This is an english shelter : ) anyway. I love the shelter.

  • Good old RED! I have 2 greyhounds totally motivated by food. nce once stole frozen veggie fingers from the eye level frill tray while the grill was warming.....and the tubs of butter I have lost through turning my back for a second.

They are old ladies now, but still empty the bins given the chance

  • @rosahlyn Butter thief..My son said once ''someone has done a wee in my bed....'' and oh goodness, what a mess....not wee, but melted butter...our Lurcher had stolen a pound block of butter, in paper wrap, carried it and hidden it in son's bed...add one hot water bottle...and kiss goodbye to a mattress...it was ghastly, but funny too...lurchers seem to adore butter, as I found another squashed packet wedged down the arm of a sofa. DOGS!

  • this dog is the absolute image of my bitch greyhound lol and she's a little monkey opening doors too

  • hahahaha thats brilliant hope his new owners have padlocks!

  • good story, I have a pair of Lurchers and one is an expert thief

  • Haha at this

  • Red was rehomed and this vid was shot at Battersea dogs home - not the rspca.

  • what a twat why would you even say this when you know it isn't true? idiot...

  • Idiot, why put THAT? Totally brainless and obviously anti- RSPCA but Battersea dogs home is independent and even if there was a problem with the dog in his new home, they would have taken him back.

  • @k1971C I don't like the RSPCA 's policies on putting animals to sleep either but spreading provable lies about them just strengthens their position and makes you look like an idiot.

  • This is just so good, at least he not forget his doggy friends ha ha

  • Red is awesome!

  • well done!!

  • I love that dog! So cute.

  • i want one of them

  • amazing

  • haha sneaky bastard
