  • no we need a nuclear bomb to kill them all... XD

  • wow these look different from the kind in Tennessee! Almost look like Roaches!

  • The thousand nations, of the cicada empire, descend upon you! Our wings will block out the sun!

  • @The8ofClubz

Torch isn't badass enough, we need a FLAMETHROWER! :D

  • @fieryhand FPS Russian Style! :D

  • it must stink really bad around the base of that tree, I ran over a huge pile of them like the ones at 00:40 with the lawmower and a huge wiff of stink filled the air.

  • Wow, I've never seen that many in one place before.

I like the sound they make it blocks out my tinnitus.

  • Just gather a whole bunch up by the bucket load, get a fryer bin for of hot oil going, drop in a french fry rack, plop them in, and there you have your own episode of "Bizzare Foods" hehe! Thats a Buffet fit for a African Tribe there. lol! Cant believe they emerge out of their skins during the day, but way down here they emerge at night.

  • Can you say lawn mower?

  • I would have to pour oil on all of them and light them. My phobia of all bugs is insane.

  • time to mow the lawn >:)

  • thank god im going to israel soon this is nasty shit i wont be to sad to miss

  • those things are good multi taskers, they can scare the shit out of me and piss me off at the same exact time

  • I'm moving to Nashville in August, this is my first time learning about these things. How long does the season last & is it just in heavily wooded areas?

  • 2 words... Pressure washer....

  • if that stupid cicada's are in my garden i took my deo and lighter.

  • these things are all over my front and back yard,no-scratch that,THEY'RE ALL OVER MY GODDAMN CITY!

are these things supposed to come to iowa?right now they're all over the place in keokuk!!!i can't walk through my own damn front yard without stepping on one!

    do they ever go away?!

  • SO F-ING ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna lose my mind when the 17 year time comes

  • That's what my yard looks like right now. They're all over. They really like the small trees. If you shake one, they all fly off at once. One flew and hit me in the lip. I was just glad it didn't fly down my throat.

  • are cicadas dangerous?

  • @dreamyprettyangel no, they aren't dangerous at all. Just extremely annoying and ugly. haha.

  • Cicadas are soo cool. Such a show only happens a few times in a lifetime.

  • ahhhh theyr here now :/ I can hear them ALL the time

    Im losing my freaking mind

  • I don't think you have enough cicadas.

  • SET IT ON FIRE!

  • are all the things on the ground their shells that they shed from larva to ...well...them..?

  • @xxmirroraddictxx yea dude.them things r everywhere

  • HORRIBLE HORRIBLE FUCKIN CREATURES.

  • They're all over my yard right now. I remember the last time they came. I was 5 years old. And I hated it! Now I have to experience it all over again! T^T

  • @TheHanaKatsumi

I remember when I was really young, about 6 or 7. I'd stand in the yard with a tennis racquet and swing at them as they flew by for mere entertainment. Now I find myself sprinting to my car in horror every damn time I walk out the door.

  • @lysolbombs470

Omg....thats awesome. That's what I've been doing lately. Hell, I've even asked my g/f to go get smokes or whatever a few times because I have a weird phobia with insects and she actually loves them. hahaha You've never seen someone run like i do when there's all those cicadas around.

  • @Hartatttack420

Oh there's no such thing as a "weird phobia with insects". I'm pretty sure that's just normal to be freaked out by them. At least she's willing to run to the store for you, though...it's too hot out to sprint to your car anyway!

  • Currently in Tennessee, these cicadas are planning another invasion... after seeing this, I don't think I'm ready... O_o

  • Mmmmm. That's breakfast.

  • OMG!!!! I would want to grow wings and fly so i wouldnt have to walk on the ground!!!

  • i would have a flippin heart attack i hate bugs

  • are theybad for the tree? can they live in california?

  • @TheMr92021 Cicadas do some damage to the tips of tree branches when they lay their eggs in, but not enough to significantly harm the tree. When the tips fall down, the larvae bury into the ground to feed on the tree sap for 17 or 13 years, so they need it alive.

The periodical cicadas like these don't live as far west as California.

  • I would have taken a blow torch and burned them all! Then I would get a fire extinguisher to save the tree lol

  • OMG! I was pregnant the summer of 1998 and never knew what those things were, when I was about 7.5months preggo I fell on the ground and they were all on me (or I was just in panic mode) and winded up in Vandy. Next day I quit my job headed to my home town in Alabama for the next 3 weeks or so, I came back. My son was born that July and has a birth mark on his thigh that everyone says looks just like a cicada! Not looking forward to this for you TN folks..good thing I moved a few years ago!

  • @boonefun that sucks i'm still here lol

  • I'm surprised to see that many still emerging while the cassini are already in chorus. Usually once the chorus begins there are very few left in the ground.

  • Oh heeeeelllllll naw! Dude, look at the ground! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!

  • i love Cicadas, lul you prob wore ear Muffs.

  • These little guys are pretty cool... I remember collecting their cast-off skins as a kid and then having the husks battle and destroy each other... lol I haven't seen these in years, though, but wow... This sure is a lot!

  • In the south of England we have these things called may bugs. They try lay eggs in ur hair. We use trampoline and tennis racket! ;)

  • are those the things that cling and crawl out of their shells

  • i would call my friends and say GET YOUR WATER GUNS

  • so this is what hell looks like..... GET YOUR FLAMETHROWERS!!!!!

  • What me and my friends did: Took baseball bats around the neighborhood and smach them up against heavily "infested" trees.

Sure, the guts flew, but it was fun!

  • brb, writhing forever

  • they are innofensive by humans ....only considerated like agricultural plague but only in tree orchards...they deposit their eggs in the wood and broken tree branches, wound where disease can cause tree, it´s a secundary effect.

  • What do you do, if they invade your house?

  • @GimmeKitty You burn down your house.

  • @cyborg34572 ROFL ... I mean, I know, right?

  • @cyborg34572 Agreed. lol

  • damn me and my friends killed so many of these things back when they were in va lmao. we would also shake small trees and all of them would come swarming out of the branches and we would run away hahaha

  • When I saw the tree with cicadas, it didnt look that bad. Then you showed us the ground and I swore a like a sailor

A see of bugs, a sea of bugs everywhere

  • Do they bite?

  • @celtik916 they don't sting, but they do make a very annoying buzzing, they are like the orchestra of the insects, the thing you'll have to deal with is when they die, it'll be a mass murder, it'll be a holocaust of cicadas EVERYWHERE when they drop dead on the ground

  • @celtik916 only if they think your a tree then they will bite to get the sap

  • @celtik916 they dont have a mouth lol

  • OMG Did U kill em'? YUCK!!!

  • @pre76dator seriously? You're fucking retarded. Leave Michael alone bitch. Thanks!

  • me and my dad walked through des planes three years ago during the cicada outbreak it looked like a cicada massacre 2024 next invasion

  • let's climb the tree

  • @PaperMan431 lol what if Michael Jackson climed that tree

  • @pre76dator o.O

  • @PaperMan431 You first. lol

  • I would just set the tree on fire.

  • i like cicadas and after seeing this video i have to say from where i live mi HOLY SHIT THAT IS A LOT OF CICADAS i never seen so many all at ounce on the tree and ground WOOOOOW

  • SICK! An orgy!!

  • Ahhhhh the sounds of summer.

  • The last time this happened in PR, I remember me and my friends would throw footballs and basketballs into some big trees and a few hundred cicada's would fly out at us, and we would start swinging at them with tennis rackets and baseball bats... Good times =). I want another cicada invasion!

  • Wow! We had a 17 year cicada emergence here in PA a few years ago, but it wasn't that extreme. There were cicada's and shells all over in spots, but not to the point the ground was completely covered like that. At least it's only for a short time every 17 years, so I find it pretty neat. You'd think that many underground would kill the tree they are feeding off of.

  • was in chicago when this happened, I couldn't stand it and I was freaked out by the way these bugs look.

  • I remember these things in Ohio about 5 years ago! :O

  • Brrr horrible.

  • beautiful sound, I really love their singing

  • wow.... imagine the person who has to clean all that up.....

  • I remember shaking trunks of small trees and they'd swarm out. That, and throwing them at people.

  • i remember they came back around about 6 yrs ago in MD and i was in school at the time. People would always sneak these things into other peoples bags and then when they went to class and opened them they came flying out. lol the teachers weren't very amused

  • haha me too man. I loved these things. I can't wait for them to come back. they took over DC.

  • @KTownWho i know this is an old comment but I was just wondering how you could actually like those things.

  • Ahh 2003, when I was in 3rd grade...good times! I thought they were really evil bees and then the school made an announcement that they're "friendly bees" and they don't harm. GOOD TIMES!!

  • @statdis omg i live in MD also i remember wen my friend would put the cicadas on me i fucking hated them they freaked me out

  • Glad I don't live in Illinois! Yipes! :-0

  • that reminds me, i have alot of these in my garden. they are real pests Xp

  • I would have shat a brick if I saw that shit at my house...

  • @Browningdiva I about crapped myself every morning trying to go to school when the Great Eastern Brood emerged in 1987

  • Infested

  • It's amazing that these guys come out only 17 years, Exactly too. Also, their predators(most common) is Wasp and Arachnids usually come out every 5 or 3 years.(Considering 17 is a prime number :DD)

  • 5 or 3 years??? they are coming out every year some of them twice or more a year...

  • That is a shitload of cicadas!

  • whoaz, cool. I <3 them

  • I bet its heaven for birds when these guys come around!

  • are those the ones that make that screech sound?

  • "Yeah, It's a hot and summer day or the weather is nice...And BAM, Loud buzzing sound come's on...It's these little guy's sing to the world...XD"

  • I'm not scared of them. If I now they dont can give me poison or other stuff that kills me, then why be scared?

  • @thekitteninthetree They're harmless but they're really gross. I think they're ugly and there's far too many of them. I did not like them at all. Thankfully we don't have them in Florida.

  • They invaded New Jersey in 1996. Those bastards were everywhere!

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!

  • they could take down a guy if he was sleeping

  • how the hell can you walk/bike/drive/do anything around with that shit everywhere?

  • I don't know how, you just do.

  • @LadyASG Believe me, it's hard. Some people just ignore them and go about their business. You do have to sort of dive into your car real fast and not let one get trapped in there with you. They're very clumsy flyers. But they stay away from water, so just go dive in the pool.

  • i hate big bugs,

  • i live in park ridge. this shit happens every 17 years. try sleeping in this shit thats all over the city. bitches corpses clogged up my bike.

  • gosh i hate bugs...

  • look at locusts or centipedes see how dat makes ya feel

  • om try not to attract too much attention idk why ure not afraid if asll of em jump on u lol ull becom insect man

  • When i was little i used to pick them up and ply with them... i was a weird kid. Now they scare the crap outta me. One time i was starring right at one (it was a pole and i was like 25 feet away)and it flew right at me and too make it worse made that noise while doing so... Ill never be the same. O_O

  • Being scared of them is what is weird.

  • "Ill never be the same. O_O " hahahhahahahahahahah that was funny, but damn im scared of this shits too! O_O!

  • I live in des plaines, Literally across the street of Park ridge, And i barely got ANY! I went to Elmhurst and man, They got it, BAD!

  • WOW your A TUFF MAN

  • now your ganna kill some more bugs because ur so sad and weak that u cant hurt anything else weakling

  • ew.

  • I live in Greatlakes and saw multiple of these amazing bugs....but NOTHING like what this video illustrates! I think their eyes are awesome.

  • damn .. .
